Volume 1 Chapter 4: Challenging the Boss
Zero Fantasy Setting 3:
Zero Fantasy Boss Settings:
There are countless types of monsters in Zero Degree Fantasy. There will be bosses among the same type of monsters, but the number of bosses is relatively rare. For example, there is only one slime-type boss, the Golden Slime King, near each novice village. After the boss is killed, it will refresh once every 6 hours. The explosion rate of the boss is much higher than that of ordinary monsters. Generally, more than two pieces of equipment will be dropped, and the level of the dropped equipment is also higher than that of the equipment dropped by similar monsters. Among the equipment dropped by the boss, there is a 50% chance of dropping attribute equipment, 5% may be gold equipment, and the probability of dark gold equipment is 0.05%. That is to say, an ordinary player may get a gold equipment by killing 10 bosses, but it takes an average of 1,000 bosses to drop a dark gold equipment. However, if the player has hidden luck or wears equipment that gets bonuses from items, the item acquisition rate will increase accordingly.
Some monsters belonging to the same group will have a common leader - the existence of a super boss. The level of a super boss is different from that of an ordinary monster or boss. It is ranked by ability level on the official website, and is divided into ten levels: SS, S, A, B, C, D, E, F, G, and H. A super boss is refreshed only once a week, and its probability of dropping gold or dark gold equipment is much higher than that of an ordinary boss. Only super bosses have a very low chance of dropping holy spirit equipment. The only few artifacts obtained by players in the internal test are rewards for completing system tasks or participating in official activities. I have never heard of artifacts being dropped from monsters, so it is impossible to infer whether a super boss will drop artifact-level equipment.
…
I checked my character attributes, HP = 449, physical attack = 219 ~ 224, physical defense 69 ~ 71, load = 339, movement speed = 16.2km / h, MP = 172, absolutely abnormal, although the more than 60 copper coins on my body are only enough to buy a small bottle of life water (50 copper coins / bottle, + 100HP), but I still have enough confidence to kill the slime king. I even decided not to go back to the village to buy medicine, and walked directly downstream along the stream. I knew there was a ditch ahead that brought water from the stream to the village to irrigate the farmland, and the slime king was spawned in a bush next to the ditch.
Soon I found the golden King Slime hiding in the bushes. This guy was like a huge golden jelly. There were many green, gray, and red slimes around him, guarding the King Slime. Well, this is not easy to deal with. Although the slime is not a monster that actively attacks, as long as I attack the Boss, the nearby monsters will surround me and beat me up. Although the slime's pitiful attack power can't break my defense at all, and each attack will only force 1 point of blood to be deducted, the trouble is that once I am surrounded by monsters, I can only resist the Boss's attack. The attack power of the King Slime can be as high as 100! When I killed this thing in the internal test, I first cleared some of the monsters, cut out a passage, and then cut the King Slime with a knife and ran back. Relying on the high sensitivity, it led it out of the monster pile and then singled it out. That was very simple. But now because of my low agility, I will definitely not be able to escape from the monsters, and I don’t have any range attack skills. Although I can kill the monsters one by one with a high attack, there are so many slimes, and I’m afraid that new ones will spawn before I finish clearing them all!
Damn, fortune is won through risk, let's fight! I calculated carefully, because my strength is high and weighted, the attack bonus I get for each level upgrade is much higher than others, and in terms of attack power alone, I have reached the level of the internal test warrior 15! The Slime King has a lot of blood, 2500 HP, but the defense is not high, only 40. I can deduct at least 180 HP from it with each attack, and it takes at most 14 hits to get it done. The damage of the Slime King to me is estimated to be around 30, plus the forced blood deduction from the attacks of the monsters, I will lose about 35 HP per round, and I can withstand at least 13 attacks. Sweat... As long as I have a small bottle of life water, I will be absolutely sure to kill this boss. Now I regret my decision not to go back to the village. But if I go back to the village now, it will waste too much time, and when I come back, maybe other players will have killed the Slime King. In fact, my calculations are very conservative, because as long as I make a critical hit or hit the vital point of King Slime once in more than 10 rounds, as long as the damage is doubled, King Slime will be the first to die - this is simply a situation that will inevitably occur - speaking of this, I found that my critical hit occurred very frequently during the process of killing Toads, basically once every 7 or 8 attacks, and even a fatal hit from time to time. I don't think this is a coincidence, plus the values of the modified dice when I upgraded are very high, I am sure that the reward of my special account is definitely more than the 5 basic attribute points, and there should be more luck in the hidden attribute! I can even roughly infer that my luck points are around 5 based on my internal test experience!
Luck is a good thing! During the internal test, I got two lucky rings and a lucky necklace. After wearing them, I found that luck can increase the probability of critical hits and fatal hits, the rate of treasure drops from monsters, the success rate of professional skills, the attack hit rate, the success rate of dodges, etc. In short, luck is related to all probability calculations. And I calculated through a lot of data analysis that the probability of each point of luck is corrected to 10%. In other words, the probability of a critical hit for a player with 0 luck is 10%. I have 5 points of luck, so my critical hit rate is 10%×(1+5×10%)=15%, and my treasure drop rate from monsters is about half higher than others. In Zero Degree Fantasy, there are few things that add attribute points, and items that add hidden attributes are even rarer. During the internal test, because the final data will be deleted anyway, in order to let players test more data to see if they are balanced, many good equipment are directly sent to players by GM, and the rate of treasure explosion is 10 times higher than that of the public beta, so I have the opportunity to get in touch with some top-quality equipment.
In fact, my guess was correct. In addition to the 5 basic points awarded, the account that Mr. Li gave me also had hidden attributes of Luck 5 and Charm 5 (because the function of charm was the only question I didn’t understand during the internal test, so I couldn’t infer whether my account had charm. It was not until a long time later that I accidentally discovered this secret)!
With my determination made, I picked up my short knife and charged into the slime bush. In fact, my hard-fought challenge to the Slime King was not without risks. I certainly had the possibility of hitting a critical hit, but this was not exclusive to players. Monsters could also hit a critical hit. And the most frightening thing was that I missed my attack. As long as the Slime King missed my attack twice, I would be dead. But I thought that the penalty for death for novices below level 10 was very low, only 5% of the experience required for upgrading the current level would be deducted (if the remaining experience was less than 5%, the level would be downgraded. I killed two toads on the way here, and the current experience was 162/2500. If I died, only 5% of 2500, or 125 experience, would be deducted, so even if I died, I would not be downgraded). I didn't have any equipment that was easy to explode. After I died, it would be faster to reborn in the village than to run back. At worst, I could buy a bottle of life water and start over...
Now I feel like using a butcher knife to kill chickens when I chop slimes . I chop one with one, and experience increases by 10 points (sigh, I lose experience when I downgrade and kill monsters). Because slimes are non-active attack monsters, I always attack first and kill instantly, so I am not attacked by slimes at all, and I kill them in front of the slime king easily. Hehe, although slimes have no fixed shape like amoeba, I know that its weakness is the core in the center of its body. No matter it becomes square or round, as long as it is aimed at the center, it is very likely to hit the vital point, so let's reward it with double damage first, right?
With one stab, King Slime splashed out a lot of mucus. The system prompts: You successfully attacked King Slime's vital point, the damage is doubled, King Slime's health -362 (2138/2500).
The Slime King was enraged, and his fat body transformed into two tentacles that stabbed at me. At the same time, countless small slimes around it were alarmed and rushed towards me like a tide.
I ignored the monster's attacks, dodged a tentacle, and took the attack from another tentacle.
System prompt: You are attacked by King Slime, health -29 (420/449)
System prompt: You are attacked by a green slime, life -1 (419/449)
System prompt: You are attacked by a red slime, life -1 (418/449)
…
Well, it's about the same as expected, because the Slime King blocked my front, I only had to withstand the attacks from 5 small slimes on the left and right sides of my body and behind. The damage of the Slime King to me was also in line with expectations. It seems that the public beta did not modify the attributes of low-level monsters.
Just like that, the Slime King and I attacked each other back and forth, without any skills, purely fighting for our lives. The probability of winning for both sides was almost the same, it just depended on who had better luck.
The fifth knife, good, I hit a critical hit, awesome!
Damn, the sixth stab missed, and a red Miss appeared above the Slime King’s head, as if mocking my incompetence.
Alas, misfortunes never come singly. In the seventh round, I was hit by a critical hit and my HP was only 201 points left!
The situation was unfavorable, but I concentrated more and sought a chance to win. Hmm? I found that when the Slime King retracted its tentacles after attacking, its body would shrink into a circle. This symmetrical shape was the easiest to find the center. I took the opportunity to stab it in the vitals . Bingo, the attack was successful...
After discovering this secret, poor Slime King was no match for me. I only used 5 swords for the rest of the battle - including one attack missed by Slime King and one HP recovery - and three of them hit the vital points. As the system prompted that Slime King was dead, its golden body quickly disintegrated, and it fell down like melted jelly, and quickly turned into slurry and soaked into the soil. The small slimes surrounding me seemed to have lost their backbone and quickly fled away. I still had 124 points of life left - I also missed one attack from Slime King and recovered one HP. But if I hadn't found a way to attack Slime King's vital points, it would be hard to say who would win the battle.
I was just about to collect the spoils dropped by the Boss when I suddenly heard a beautiful music and a special system prompt sounded: Player Bloody Sky, congratulations on becoming the first player in Zero Degree Fantasy to kill the Boss. The system rewards you with a set of novice suits and 1,000 reputation points.
