Volume 5: Protracted War Chapter 97: Angels Fighting the Devil (1)
Because of the continuous arrival of reinforcements, the light NPCs in the church had a great advantage in numbers, but because of the difference in individual strength, after we stabilized our position, we blocked the side door of the hall in the occupied area and stopped some enemies in the side hall, effectively curbing their counterattack. For a while, we had the upper hand, and we used clever means to frustrate the spirit of the eighth-level Light Fantasy Knight, one of the two major bosses presiding over the church. Morale was even higher, and the team gradually approached the twelve-winged golden angel statue.
Although he had suffered a great loss and his men were being defeated under our fierce attack, the Phantom Knight seemed to be still quite confident. He was suspended in the air and looked at us coldly. He suddenly sneered and shouted, "You are a group of dark sinners who have abandoned the light. You are still stubborn even when facing death and want to challenge the authority of the gods of light. Today, I will let you blasphemers see the power of the real gods!"
As soon as he finished speaking, the Phantom Knight held an object in his hand and slowly drew a cross on his chest, muttering something in his mouth, as if he was praying. After the short ceremony, he casually threw it into the air, as if it was a white and crystal light card the size of a playing card. It looked quite familiar. In an instant, the light was strong and expanded rapidly, covering the Phantom Knight's body in the light ball, making it impossible for us to look directly at it. It lasted for more than ten seconds, and then quickly faded. The Phantom Knight appeared. His face was still the same, but his expression became more solemn. His body exuded a thick and soft milky white light, even the silver Pegasus under his crotch was wrapped in it. Two pairs of white wings were waving gracefully behind him. They were not the kind of light wings that had been transformed before, but were definitely real wings. It was "Angel Possession", the strongest skill of the Light Knight, and the possessed one was the second-level god in "Heaven" - the Four-Winged Light Angel.
We witnessed the "Angel Possession" performed by the Phantom Knight with our own eyes, but the blow it brought to us was not over. On the other side, the silver-robed bishop who maintained the "Holy Light Barrier" also started to make "small moves" restlessly. Another ball of white light flashed, and a four-winged angel of light suddenly appeared in the air. "Angel Summoning", the strongest skill of the Priest of Light, was also displayed in front of us.
Encountering two four-winged light angels was an extremely bad situation in our plan. It should be only slightly better than the seventh-level professional NPC who also had the ability to perform "Angel Summoning" and "Angel Possession". According to the data obtained from the investigation, the ordinary seventh-level professional light NPC may not have received the favor of the angel through devout prayers, and it seems that they are still unable to perform these two powerful skills. Therefore, Long Xing Tianxia has formulated a plan to "pull teeth from the tiger's mouth". Otherwise, with more than a dozen two-winged archangels helping out, it would be impossible for us to conquer any church at this stage. The initial battle situation also confirmed the accuracy of our data. The seventh-level professional light NPC did not perform "Angel Summoning" or "Angel Possession". Everything seemed to be going well, but the worst situation still occurred here with the two bosses of the eighth-level profession - if you want to destroy the twelve-winged golden angel statue, you have to face the challenge of two four-winged light angels.
With the protection of the "holy light of protection" of the four-winged light angel, Xiaobai's "Howl of the Banshee" could no longer have the slightest effect on the Phantom Knight. I quickly asked it to change its target and concentrate on dealing with those level 6 and 7 minions, so as not to provoke the two light angels, lest it attract their attention and cause trouble for itself. I also shrank back into the group, trying to hide my body. If the "Spirit Sealing Card" had not been consumed in the group battle with Glory, with the Green Bone Dragon, I could still fight the light angels. Now I don't have any men who can fight against them, so I can only rely on Long Xingtianxia and the others. This situation had been estimated during the discussion in the Council beforehand. After all, as the boss of the church, and an eighth-level profession, it is impossible to be too easy to deal with. Although no clear countermeasures were proposed, Long Xingtianxia and Desert Eagle still insisted on implementing the "pulling teeth from the tiger's mouth" plan, thinking that there should be means to compete with the angels. Of course, the hands did not relax. The "touch of death" was still entangled with an archbishop, trying to absorb his mental power.
With the appearance of the two light angels, the situation suddenly took a sharp turn for the worse and became extremely unfavorable to us. The capable companions also used their means to fight against the light angels. Long Xingtianxia took out a black crystal card that was also the size of a playing card and threw it into the air. With a "pop" sound, the crystal card exploded into powder, and at the same time emitted a dazzling black light, which instantly "swallowed" Long Xingtianxia's figure. It lasted for more than ten seconds, and the strong light suddenly converged. Long Xingtianxia showed up, with a thin layer of black air lingering around him, emitting a hazy black light, and his face was a little unclear. Even the mount Speed Dragon under his crotch was shrouded in it. A pair of black wings behind him slowly waved, but it was the shape of the first-level righteous god in the "Devil Prison" - the two-winged fallen archangel. "Demon God Possession", probably with the help of special props, Long Xingtianxia also displayed the strongest skill of the magic knight and summoned the two-winged fallen archangel to possess him.
It was normal for Long Xing Tianxia to behave like this. I had received the "Spirit Sealing Card", so his merit value should be higher than mine. I thought the system would not favor one over the other. But what surprised me was Long Kong. This guy always liked to hang around Yue Linglong on weekdays, calling himself the "flower protector", but he was not brave enough to try the seventh-level magic dragon, so he only dared to sign the Iron-Armored Elephant . I always thought that he would lose his position as a director sooner or later, but I didn't expect that he had some ability. He also threw out a black crystal card, and after it exploded, he performed the "Demon Possession". It's just that the shape is a little "weird", with two more sharp horns on the head, and the body of the Iron-Armored Elephant under his crotch is covered with a thick layer of black scales. In the black air, a shadow of a bull's head appeared on the head. The summoned possession should be the first-level deputy god in the "Demon Prison" - the Minotaur. Although it is just a small god, it is a little inferior to the fallen angel, but it is at least a god's possession, and it is not without resistance to the light angel. I heard from Afeng that Long Kong often takes Yue Linglong to attack and kill Guangming players or NPCs. Could it be that this is how he accumulated enough merit points to get system rewards?
Another person who was also "showing his power" was the Undead Wizard Qiu Shui Changtian. He used the same "Soul Sealing Card" as I did and summoned a skeleton general who was more than five meters tall. He was wearing a tattered and rusty iron armor and holding a long-handled bone machete in both hands. Although he was not as powerful as the one I killed in the "Skeleton Palace" in the "Underground Maze", he also possessed considerable strength, at least none of my men could match him.
