The Real Hogwarts Chapter 109 Opportunity
Jon stared at Dolohov's back, and at the same time, he glanced at the school doctor Lestrange who was walking towards him and looked like he had something to discuss.
Unnoticed, Jon shook his head at Hermione who was also waiting nearby.
Hermione pursed her lips and turned back from the iron gate of the basement dormitory. Together with Jon, she fell to the end of the Mudblood student team and walked back to her dormitory.
"We'll talk about it tonight." Jon whispered beside Hermione in a voice that only the two of them could hear.
Hermione didn't say anything, but just nodded, looking a little disappointed.
Dolohov, who was completely unaware of their little actions, was listening to Lestrange's invitation.
"...You know, if you hadn't made a big splash at the Christmas dinner, Mr. Crouch wouldn't have invited you. In previous years, when our card club got together, only the professors from the same 28 families attended."
Dolohov smiled. He knew that because of Voldemort's words at the dinner that day, he had actually squeezed into the innermost pure-blood circle.
"Of course, I have always longed for this club founded by Mr. Crouch, but... you know, there have been no opportunities before. When will the party be held?"
"It was originally scheduled for Friday night, but the Carrow siblings had to go home to celebrate their mother's birthday that day, so they had to spend the weekend at home. Mr. Crouch made some arrangements. None of their professors had any classes on Thursday. Mr. Crouch himself had a Charms class, but it was in the afternoon, so the party was scheduled for 9 p.m. on Wednesday."
Lestrange looked at Dolohov and warned.
"I know you have to patrol after 8 o'clock every day. Be careful not to be late. Some other people are not happy about inviting you in the first place."
Dolohov asked hesitantly.
"The professors don't have classes on Thursday, but I have to work during the day... Will the party be held all night?"
"We usually play cards all night long. If you have something else to do during the day, there are rooms upstairs in the Three Broomsticks where you can rest. We have known each other for so many years, don't blame me for not reminding you. You can rest if you want, but you have to pay attention to the occasion and don't spoil everyone's fun. Otherwise, this is your first time attending a rally and it may also be your last time."
"You don't need to remind me of this. I'm not that ignorant of the ways of the world."
They walked out of the basement while chatting, and then parted at the stairs on the first floor.
Dolokhov was in a happier mood than ever before. He returned to his office humming a little tune and feeling that his future was bright after last year's Christmas dinner.
It's late at night and everyone is asleep.
In Hermione's dormitory, Jon said solemnly.
"We can't force this kind of thing. If something unexpected happens during the attack on Dolohov and we're discovered by others, all our efforts will be wasted. We won't even have a chance to fight one last time."
Today is Tuesday, the day agreed with Dumbledore. The only feasible solution John can think of now is to rely on Dolohov, the castle manager.
In fact, his main responsibility in managing the castle is to look after the Mudblood students. As long as Jon can find a way to get rid of him and then use the Polyjuice Potion to become his appearance, he can assign the first and second year Mudblood students a cleaning job on the third floor of the castle at noon on Thursday, and then find the right time to take everyone out of the castle without anyone noticing.
But the difficulty of this matter lies in how to get rid of Dolokhov without alerting anyone else.
In terms of strength, John is definitely not as good as an adult wizard like him, especially a Death Eater who has followed Voldemort for more than ten years and survived many battles.
And if Dolohov were to react, he would definitely not hold back at all and would directly cast a killing curse on John.
The gem that John just got contained powerful magic, but this magic could only be used for the magic on his ring - the levitation spell and the breaking spell, but neither of these two spells could block the effect of the killing curse.
So he could only launch a surprise attack and knock Dolokhov down when he was completely unprepared.
It is difficult to find such an opportunity, where there must be no other people around and Dolokhov must be completely unprepared.
Three days had passed since John came up with this idea . When they returned to the basement dormitory in the evening, that was their best chance. They had originally planned to let Hermione attract Dolohov's attention, and then John would take action. However, the arrival of Lestrange forced them to terminate their original plan.
Hermione sat on the bed with her knees hugged and looked at Jon.
“Will there be another chance?”
Jon crossed his fingers, his face darkened, and he whispered.
"Then I'll find an opportunity at night. The action time is set for the day after tomorrow. I'll try to sneak into Dolokhov's room tomorrow night. No one will disturb him at night, and he won't be on guard."
…
On Wednesday night, after the curfew had fully begun, Jon sat up from his bed, took out the Marauder's Map, lit a candle and began to watch Dolohov's every move.
He saw from the map that after leaving the Mudblood's underground dormitory, the castle warden went all the way up to check every floor of the castle. Then at 8:50, he abnormally left the school through the Hogwarts gate.
Jon couldn't sit still in the dormitory.
He knew very well that if he still wanted to carry out his plan of impersonating Dolokhov, tonight would be his only chance.
Without stopping for a moment, he immediately put on his invisibility cloak, left Hogwarts through the secret passage, and came to the brightly lit Hog's Head Inn.
It was just past nine o'clock, and there were still many wizards drinking and chatting in the bar. Jon carefully avoided everyone and walked to Aberforth, who was preparing cider for the guests behind the bar, and pulled the hem of his robe.
Aberforth understood immediately.
He did not clear the bar immediately, as that would have been too obvious . Instead, he called over a familiar wizard and asked him to help watch over the tavern downstairs. Then, he used the excuse of going to the cellar to get some wine and took Jon to the underground wine cellar in the backyard.
"I wanted to get rid of Dolohov and then disguise myself as him and take the students to the secret passage tomorrow, but he came out of the school tonight. I need your help to go to Hogsmeade and see if he is still in this town. If he is there and he is alone, then it will be more certain for us to act together!"
Jon quickly told him the current situation, and Aberforth acted decisively without stopping. He told Jon to wait for his news in the wine cellar, and then returned to the ground.
