The Real Hogwarts Chapter 110 Do Your Best
After waiting here for less than an hour, Aberforth came back with a grim look on his face.
"I saw him in the Three Broomsticks, but he wasn't the only one. Barty Crouch Jr., the Carrow siblings , the school doctor named Lestrange, and twenty-eight other professors from pure-blood families were all gathered there. They must be having a party."
Jon, sitting on an empty wine barrel, his face dark and uncertain, finally spoke.
"Let's wait and see when they go back and whether they go back together or separately."
Aberforth did not let Jon wait here. He took him to a guest room on the second floor of the tavern and let him rest there first. After all, no matter what the result of tonight was, he would definitely be busy and tired during the day tomorrow.
After settling Jon down, Aberforth closed the shop an hour earlier than usual, and at 11 o'clock he kicked the last drunkard out of the shop. Then he closed the shop door and went to keep watch near the Three Broomsticks Bar himself.
He chose a perfect position so that he could see from the side the group of Hogwarts faculty and staff who were drinking and playing cards in the bar hall, but those people inside had no way of seeing him from this angle.
The weather in early February was still very cold, and the chilly wind made his wrinkled face numb, but Aberforth stayed on guard until about two o'clock in the morning.
When he saw Dolohov finish his last hand of cards and go up to the second floor of the Three Broomsticks, he couldn't help but clench his fist in anger and punch the wall beside him hard.
Then he ignored his hand that had turned purple, turned around and walked quickly towards his tavern.
Arriving at the second floor of the Hog's Head Inn, he woke up Jon, who was sleeping lightly.
"He stayed overnight in that bar."
"Is everyone else asleep?"
"No, except for him, the rest of the people are still playing cards in the hall."
Jon rubbed his face with his cool hands and let out a breath.
He knew well what it would mean if Dolohov stayed at the Three Brooms tonight.
Barty Jr., the Carrow siblings, and other professors from Hogwarts Castle were all there. Even with the invisibility cloak and Aberforth, Jon had no way of guaranteeing that he could deal with Dolohov in such an environment.
They were the only ones left there. After putting on their invisibility cloaks, how were they supposed to get into the bar with its door tightly closed?
Even if I find the right opportunity to sneak in, how can I avoid the Hogwarts professors on the first floor and sneak into the second floor?
It's not that it can't succeed, but the risk is too great. If they choose to take the risk and the operation tonight fails, it will not only affect the rescue of the students from Hogwarts Castle tomorrow, but Dumbledore's other plans will obviously also be likely to have problems.
Jon lowered his head and remained silent for a long time, but in the end he did not decide to take the risk.
You can save people, but you cannot put your own people at risk of sacrifice in order to save them.
If they were discovered tonight, John and Aberforth would definitely be able to escape, but the Ministry of Magic would certainly be on alert, and the scope of impact would be too large.
"It doesn't matter." Jon sat up from the bed and put on his robe. There was not much frustration and disappointment on his face. He said in a flat voice, "Since we can't take shortcuts, let's go straight ahead."
Aberforth sighed.
“You can’t keep everyone safe.”
"As long as we do our best, no matter what the result is, we will not regret it!"
…
Early Thursday morning, on the Hogwarts carriage.
The students responsible for making breakfast today got up early and started busying themselves in the kitchen.
The second-year students still need to help the senior students for another year, and this morning, Neville and the other four were helping to fry eggs in the kitchen.
They have started to cook some food that does not require any skills. Four people each have a pot with half-boiled eggs sizzling in it, while the fourth-grade students in charge of the main meal are preparing breakfast sandwiches and grilled sausages.
"You fried it too tender, Ron. I just saw that the yolks in some of the fried eggs were still liquid." Lavender stared at Ron's finished work and lectured him.
Ron shrugged nonchalantly.
"I like to eat this, but Percy doesn't. He prefers older fried eggs. I hope he can taste my work then."
Neville stared at his pan, thinking.
"I wonder what Jon has been doing lately?"
Ron clicked his tongue.
"Maybe Jon was assigned a great job where he doesn't have to go to class every day and can eat roasted pork elbow in the morning!"
"Jon wouldn't eat something so greasy so early in the morning," Justin muttered.
While they were chatting, Neville keenly noticed that the door behind them was opened, so he turned his head and saw the person who came, and he couldn't help but widen his eyes slightly.
"Professor Dumbledore ."
After hearing his voice, Ron and the other three finally reacted. They turned around and saw Dumbledore walking into the kitchen with a smile on his face.
"Roasted pork elbows are certainly not suitable for breakfast, but fried eggs and sandwiches are great." He had obviously heard their conversation just now, and said with a smile, "Give me a portion of your work first, Ron, I also like it a little tender. Lavender, can you please help me get a sandwich and pumpkin juice from Svent and the others? No need for grilled sausages, as my appetite is not as good as it used to be when I get older."
He naturally sat down at an empty preparation table in the kitchen. Ron blushed and found the most presentable one from among his works, put it on an empty plate and brought it to Dumbledore.
Lavender also trotted over to get a thick sandwich with extra fillings and warm pumpkin juice from the fourth-year students, and carefully handed it to Dumbledore.
In the past, Dumbledore would go to the cafeteria to eat with the students. Occasionally, when he was too busy with work to make it to mealtime, he would go to the kitchen to see if there was any leftover food. If he couldn't find any, he would cook it himself.
This was the first time that Neville and his friends saw the headmaster get up so early and go straight to the kitchen to eat breakfast.
Neville asked curiously as he controlled the heat of the fried eggs while looking at Dumbledore who was eating breakfast seriously.
"Do you have anything to do today, Professor?"
Dumbledore cut Ron's fried egg with a knife and fork, and the egg yolk inside flowed out. The old man answered softly.
"I'm going to meet two old friends today."
