Episode 9 Chapter 89 Deception
I said Master Nan had smashed a Ghost Guanyin before, the one my mother had brought back, but why was he so nervous about this one? They were the same, why was there such a big difference? Master Nan said it wasn't that there was a difference, but different Ghost Guanyins led to different things. He said he didn't hide it from me now, so many things that happened to him were more or less related to the rash smashing of the Ghost Guanyin, otherwise he wouldn't have been so easily fooled.
I asked Master Nan, "So what will happen if this ghost Guanyin is smashed?"
Master Nan said, if I don't care, nothing will happen to me, but if I care, it will be a big deal. I didn't quite understand what Master Nan said, but Master Nan said, Shi Hu came to see me last night, and he saw him enter my ward.
Master Nan suddenly mentioned Shi Hu, and I had a bad feeling. Sure enough, Master Nan told me that although this ghost Guanyin was placed in my home, the person haunting it was Shi Hu. Now that the ghost Guanyin was broken, it meant that Shi Hu would be in danger. When I heard that, it was terrible, and it was really as Shan Lanjin said, this matter really affected Shi Hu. I just looked at Master Nan in disbelief, saying whether this was true.
Master Nan said that he didn't need to lie to me. I took a deep breath and continued to ask Master Nan, "Then what will happen to Shi Hu?"
Master Nan said it wouldn't be a good thing, but it was true that he was worse off than him. So I immediately stood up and said, "No, we have to tell Shi Hu."
Master Nan said it was useless to tell him, because since he was the one being harassed, he would have no way to do anything when the time came, and it would all depend on how the people around him viewed it. I became anxious and said that this was not okay, and that I should tell him no matter what. Master Nan told me to calm down, and that it was not the right time to go looking for him, as this thing usually only bothered people at night. I might as well go to his residence at night to look for him, as this would have a greater chance of success, and it would be best not to let him know in advance, otherwise it would reveal my whereabouts and alarm that thing.
Master Nan had experienced this once, so he naturally knew what to do. I slowly calmed myself down and told Master Nan that I felt very sorry that he was implicated because of my affairs, and I didn't know how to compensate him. If Shi Hu was implicated again, what would be the difference between this and committing a sin? I didn't harm anyone, but many people died because of me, so it was equivalent to me harming these people.
Master Nan advised me not to think too much, saying that no one wants to do such a thing, so it cannot be said to be my responsibility. I just need to try my best to remedy it now, and it is still not too late. After that, we did not touch the fragments of the Ghost Guanyin, because Master Nan had better not touch them. I asked Master Nan how he dealt with the broken fragments of the statue in my house last time. Master Nan sighed and said that he was haunted by that thing at that time and didn't know where he had put it. Anyway, the whereabouts of this thing is unknown, which is always a problem. For now, we can only take one step at a time, and maybe it will come back again at any time.
I didn't know what to say for a moment. Master Nan asked me how I was going to go that night. I said I would go alone. Master Nan had a special status, so I should avoid him. Otherwise, it would be bad if there was another conflict. Master Nan didn't say anything. He told me to be careful. After all, I had come back from the brink of death several times. A single thought could mean the difference between life and death.
I said I would, and then we left 721. After returning to our residence, Master Nan stayed for a while before leaving. After Master Nan left, I kept feeling uneasy and a little irritable. I was always fidgeting. After finally waiting until dark, I drove to the hotel where Shi Hu and the others were staying. I thought that I didn't know if he had come back or not so early, or if he was still there, but I couldn't care less at the moment, so I'd talk about it when I got there.
I drove to the hotel and parked my car, then walked into the lobby and went straight to the elevator. The last time Shi Hu and I came here, he had said there would be no problems with the elevators here. I still remembered that he lived on the 21st floor. When I got into the elevator, I looked at the floor buttons, but what surprised me was that there was no 21 on it, and it ended at 20.
I wondered if I had taken the wrong seat, or if the elevator had missed a floor, because last time Shi Hu and I had also taken the elevator up, and I didn't notice if he had pressed the number 21, but he told me it was 21. So I pressed the number for the 20th floor, and the elevator went up. No one else got on the elevator, so I went all the way to the 20th floor. When I got to the corridor, I looked at the house number and thought I had probably gone to the wrong place, because the house numbers were all 20XX, and I remembered it clearly. Last time, when Shi Hu opened the door, it was clearly 21XX, and when I walked over, I noticed that the other rooms were also like that.
But I still took the attitude of giving it a try, and knocked on the door of the corresponding house number. There was no response to Shi Hu's room, but Shan Lanjin's room was opened. However, when I asked for Shan Lanjin's name, the man asked if he had checked out. He had just moved in, too, and there was no one there, nor had he ever heard of the person I mentioned.
He was quite polite and patient in explaining to me. I apologized before he closed the door and suggested that I go ask the front desk. I thought this was incredible, so I went to the corridor to check, wondering if the elevator was missing a floor or something. But when I got to the corridor, the top floor was locked by an iron door. I went back to the 20th floor and took the elevator down. When I got into the elevator, I checked again and it was indeed not there, so I pressed the 1st floor button to go down.
When I got to the lobby, I went to the front desk to ask. The front desk clerk looked at me in surprise and asked me if I remembered it wrongly or if my friend told me wrongly. Their hotel only has 20 floors, not 21 floors. I had given up hope after receiving such an answer, but suddenly I remembered something, so I asked the front desk if there were any guests named Shan Lanjin and Shi Hu staying at the hotel. The front desk clerk said he would help me check, so he looked through the computer and told me that I might have found the wrong place, and there were no guests with these two names staying at their hotel.
I was stunned on the spot and didn't react for a moment, wondering if I had really gone to the wrong place. But when I got to the door, I realized it was right here. I even remembered some details clearly. Finally, I returned to the car, confused and frightened, but I sat in the car and didn't leave immediately. I took out Shi Hu's number on my cell phone, hesitating whether to call him. Now I was no longer hesitating about whether to alarm that thing, but was wondering who he and Shan Lanjin were.
Or even whether they are "human".
I transferred the contact to Shan Lanjin's number, but no matter who they were, I couldn't dial the number. When I was hesitating, a car drove in. I looked at the car and it looked familiar. I looked at the license plate number, but it was Shan Lanjin's. I watched Shan Lanjin park the car in a place far away, and then he and Shi Hu got out of the car. My car was parked in a remote place, not through the passage to the hotel, but I still saw Shan Lanjin and Shi Hu get out of the car. Shan Lanjin looked over here, as if he noticed something unusual. I saw him make a move. When I saw it, I immediately turned my phone to silent mode. Then, Shan Lanjin called.
And I saw that his eyes were always on me. When there was no response, he hung up the phone and seemed to say something anxiously to Shi Hu. Then they trotted upstairs to the hotel.
After confirming that they had gone up, I started the car and drove out after a minute or two. I felt that my mind was completely blank at that time, and I had no idea. The only thought was to leave here immediately and stay away from Shan Ranjin and Shi Hu. I even began to doubt whether they were really from the relevant department, and whether they were really the police who handled this special incident.
