Chapter 83 Internal Unity Issues
The situation was finally stabilized after Levi showed up.
"Stop fighting..." He criticized sternly as the president: "If you want to fight, do it outside! This is a meeting place!"
"Hmph!" Wei reluctantly released the arms that were locked around Caitlyn's neck.
Caitlin finally let go of the hands that were grabbing Wei's hair and ears.
The two girls stood up in dishevelled clothes, looking uglier than each other, their torn hair like weeds, soaked with sweat and sticking to their cheeks and foreheads.
"What happened?" Levi asked.
"You have to ask her!" Caitlin pointed at Wei angrily: "This barbaric and rude bastard!"
"Heh." Wei snorted disdainfully: "No matter how 'barbaric' we Zauns are, we are still cleaner than you Piltover guys who burn, kill, and loot under the banner of civilization!"
"You?!" The two men stared at each other and almost fought for another three hundred rounds.
Levi had no choice but to use a wind wall to separate the two enemies, and finally made them both behave themselves.
Then, through asking questions and understanding the "spectators on the sidelines", he finally grasped the full picture of the matter.
"Wei, apologize to Miss Caitlin." Levi made a quick judgment.
"On what basis?" After knowing that she was mistaken, Wei felt a little guilty: "Even if this Piltover girl is indeed an official member of our Leaders..."
"She's acting so suspiciously and she's not cooperating with the investigation. Can't I ask her a few more questions?"
"Nonsense!" Caitlin thought the pink-haired guy was really annoying: "What's suspicious about me?"
"Just because I'm wearing nice clothes and I'm from Piltover, does that make me suspicious? You want me to cooperate with the investigation, but why should I? I haven't done anything wrong!"
"Humph!" Wei still refused to admit her mistake: "You, a Piltover guy, appearing here is suspicious in itself!"
"Enough!" Levi snorted heavily.
He looked around and saw that many of the leaders who were watching secretly agreed with Wei's remarks.
"You all think so? Is it a mistake for the people of Piltover to just appear here?" Levi asked in a serious tone.
No one answered, but the subtle atmosphere explained everything.
"It seems that this issue needs to be discussed carefully." Levi sighed.
Then, facing Wei's unconvinced look, he said to her and the hundreds of Zaun people present:
"Listen to what this girl just said - 'Piltover guy', 'suspicious behavior', 'uncooperative investigation'..."
"Do you think these words sound familiar?"
Everyone frowned:
Hey...this sounds a bit familiar.
Why do I feel like I've heard this before?
"Of course we have."
"Because that's what the Piltover law enforcers said when they were making things difficult for the Zaun people."
"If you replace 'Zuan guy' with 'Piltover guy', that's what Wei just said to Miss Caitlyn."
Everyone: “…”
The air was silent for a moment.
"How many innocent Zaun people, just because their clothes were a little torn, or they were a little dirty... just because they appeared in the wealthy area of Piltover, were treated as beggars, thieves, and robbers by Piltover law enforcement officers and were unreasonably investigated or even ruthlessly expelled."
"Haven't you guys endured enough of this kind of suffering?" Li Wei questioned Wei and everyone else:
"Then why are you now acting like the Piltover law enforcers you hate the most, judging a person's goodness or badness simply based on their appearance and origin, just based on their clothes and birthplace?"
Hearing this, everyone felt complicated.
Wei's stubbornness disappeared, and there was a hint of shame in his eyes.
"Wei, apologize." Levi emphasized again at this time.
"I..." After hesitating, Wei still extended her hand to Caitlin: "I'm sorry, Caitlin. Please forgive my rudeness."
"Well...it's okay." Caitlin held Wei's hand and reconciled with her generously.
Her anger and the grievance in her heart had indeed disappeared.
Because after listening to Levi's words, she suddenly realized... the hostility and vigilance of the Zaun people towards her did not seem to come out of thin air.
Sure enough, after Li Wei finished criticizing Wei, he expanded on this:
“We must realize that what we leaders pursue is the happiness of all mankind. As long as we share the same ideals, regardless of gender, age, culture, race, or region, everyone can be our companion.”
"To simply distinguish between friend and foe based on appearance and background is actually a misunderstanding."
"but--"
"Why do people refuse to trust their companions and habitually judge a person based on his or her background?"
"This is actually not your fault." Levi sighed and said, "Because the people of Zaun, no, to be more precise, the poorest people, have been oppressed and deceived by the bourgeoisie for too long."
"I've learned from past experience, and from what I've learned - the rich people of Piltover can't be trusted."
"So we naturally only want to trust our own people and be wary of any Piltover people who appear before us."
It is wrong to judge people by their background .
However, this unreasonable, rude and arrogant phenomenon of focusing on class background and origin is a reflection of the naked and bloody class contradictions.
Even Levi himself, when he first led the Windleader, would instinctively trust the people of Zaun more than the people of Piltover.
If this were a world without magic, Levi would probably also conduct strict background checks on those who joined the Leaders, and secretly be wary of those who came from wealthy families.
The division and estrangement caused by different backgrounds will definitely be deeper than the fight between Wei and Caitlyn.
But fortunately, this is Runeterra.
"We are followers of the goddess Janna."
" We have better ways to distinguish between friend and foe, and to determine whether a person is good or bad."
As soon as Levi finished speaking, the blue bird Janna standing on his shoulder slowly spread its wings and flew away.
Janna flew above everyone's heads, silently driving her divine power.
In an instant, thin white threads representing the power of faith were pulled out from the bodies of hundreds of leaders present.
Wei has it, and so does Caitlyn.
Everyone has it.
It's just different in thickness and brightness.
We are all ideal followers and like-minded companions.
"See? We don't need to talk about origins or backgrounds."
"Janna has told us that we are all leaders, brothers and sisters who believe in Janna's ideas!"
"So." Levi looked at Wei and Caitlyn, emphasizing the rules: "From now on:"
"Whether it's differences in background or differences in ideology—"
"No matter how different we are, no matter how deep our differences are—"
"All issues must be resolved through rational discussion, internal democracy, and the principle of minority obeying the majority!"
"We must not do what we did today, like Vi and Caitlyn did, and attack our own companions!"
Where there are people, there is the world, and where there is the world, there are sects.
Differences in family background are only minor issues, while differences in ideological lines are major issues. These issues will always exist objectively.
It is almost inevitable that internal conflicts among leaders will continue to arise.
But Levi believes that with Janna's plug-in:
"We, the leaders, can always unite!"
“We must always be united!”
