Chapter 5 I would rather time be so cruel 05

The weather was very bad on the day my mother was sent to the operating room.
It was foggy in the morning and soon it started to drizzle.
The drizzle was like an inextricable sorrow. Shen Huai and I sat on chairs in the quiet corridor of the hospital. In front of us on the left, the big red words "In Surgery" touched our hearts.
Half an hour has passed.
Every time a nurse came in and out, we both looked in the same direction. After more than ten minutes, a nurse came to check the family list with us.
"Are you relatives of our dean?" After asking some questions about the family information, the young nurse looked at Shen Huai and me with some curiosity.
"No, what's wrong?" I was a little surprised that she would say that.
"No, it's nothing! Our dean arranged the best doctor and operating room for Ms. Xu Xuan. I thought you were relatives of the dean." The nurse smiled a little embarrassedly, "Maybe the gentleman last time asked our dean for help!"
"Sir? What kind of sir?" I couldn't help but ask.
"He's very young. I heard his last name is Luqiu, and he's quite handsome." After the young nurse said this, she went to do her work.
Is it Fang Xuyou?
He was the first person I thought of.
The surname Luqiu is so special, there should be no one else except him!
Shen Huai looked at me with some confusion, and then he thought of something and murmured, "I was wondering why the vice president came to greet us in person yesterday. It turns out that someone else said hello. Wei Yang, is this young Mr. Lu Qiu that the nurse mentioned your friend?"
"Yes, it's a friend of mine." I nodded and admitted it.
Shen Huai said a few more words like "There are still many good people in the world" and "You have to thank that friend".
I smiled it off, and the tingling pain in my heart came out like a pinhole again.
An hour later, doctors began to rush out, shouting for emergency equipment.
" Doctor , is my wife in danger?" Shen Huai stepped forward and grabbed the doctor who was shouting, his anxious expression evident on his face.
"Sorry, the patient is still being rescued. Please wait patiently." The doctor hurried in with the nurse and ignored Shen Huai.
"Doctor! Doctor! My wife..." Shen Huai wanted to follow in, but was blocked by the closed door. Then, a nurse rushed out and almost bumped into Shen Huai.
I stood up and looked at Shen Huai anxiously. Shen Huai didn't dare to make trouble and returned to the bench obediently. He was in no mood to sit down and looked at the door of the operating room in panic.
"Uncle Shen, it's okay. Mom and baby will be fine." I pretended to be calm and comforted him, but in fact, I was more scared than him.
The waiting time was extremely painful and long.
Four hours have passed, from eight in the morning to now.
Suddenly, the red words "In Surgery" dimmed, the door of the operating room was pushed open, and a group of people in white coats walked out.
I saw the attending doctor walking in front of me with blood on his hands and beads of sweat on his forehead.
"Doctor, doctor, how is my mother?" Shen Huai and I went up to him together. I asked before Shen Huai did. Shen Huai looked at the doctor eagerly, as if he was being judged.
The doctor looked behind him and we saw a nurse holding a tiny, wrinkled baby. The baby had been simply washed and wrapped in a pure white cloth and seemed to be asleep.
Then I saw my mother being pushed out, with a white sheet covering her entire body, including her head.
“We tried our best.”
After the doctor said this, he walked away without looking at us.
"The time is 11:45:28. In addition, the baby is very weak, so send him to the incubator first and observe him for 24 hours." A doctor ordered.
The nurse responded, glanced at Shen Huai and me, and left in a hurry.
"Ah Xuan! Ah Xuan!"
Shen Huai's cries echoed in the hospital corridor. I saw him throw himself straight towards his mother's stroller. His cry was full of despair and sorrow, which made me unable to bear to watch. I clenched my fists tightly and just let the tears flow silently.
The remaining nurses couldn't help but tear up when they saw this scene.
"Please accept my condolences." A doctor bowed to us.
I choked up and replied "thank you".
Shen Huai certainly doesn't want anyone to disturb his last time together with his mother.
The medical staff who was in charge of pushing the cart looked at Shen Huai awkwardly for a few seconds, but finally avoided him. Tears blurred my vision, and I pretended to be strong and walked forward in the corridor step by step, with Shen Huai's heart-wrenching cry behind me.
I remembered the summer when I was six years old.
Fang Chongyan and his mother smashed things to pieces at home. I was so scared that I hid behind the door and didn't dare to go out. Through the crack in the door, I saw them arguing, pulling each other, and shouting that they wanted a divorce.
Fang Chongyan said, "I won't be back," and then rushed out of the house. He didn't come back until the evening.
My mother sat on the sofa in the living room like a stone statue. It was not until dark that she rolled her eyes, went into the kitchen, brought out a bowl of noodles and a small piece of cake, and called me to eat.
In the candlelight, my mother smiled at me, but tears were streaming down her face.
That day was my birthday.
I didn’t want my mother to be so sad, so I told her that I didn’t want to celebrate my birthday.
Later, whenever it was my birthday, my mother would cry.
Yes, apart from the fact that the two of them looked desolate in front of the cake full of candles, this birthday also reminded us of Fang Chongyan’s departure and the breakdown of their marriage.
So, I never celebrated my birthday again.
Until my mother met Shen Huai, Shen Huai insisted on celebrating my birthday every year, but I clearly refused. Later, Shen Huai had to respect my wishes and would not make a big fuss. He would just go out for a big meal with his family every day.
But I’m afraid I won’t have this meal anymore in the future.
After sending a text message to July, I went to see my mother first. Looking at that cold body, I told myself again and again that I must be strong and fulfill my mother's unfulfilled wish. But my tears kept flowing and flowing, and it seemed that they would never stop flowing...
Shen Huai fainted from excessive grief. I took care of him in the ward for a while, then went to the incubator. Through the glass, I saw a tiny baby lying in the crib No. 12. The baby had no name, only the gender, and the tag on it had the mother's name - Xu Xuan.
The newborn life lay there quietly. She didn't know that there was a great mother who also lay quietly on a hospital bed for her, and would never open her eyes to see the world again.
The continuation of love comes at the cost of death.
"Hey...how are you?" I leaned against the glass window, breathing hot air upwards, and whispered a greeting to the little life inside.
She slept peacefully, and because she was born prematurely, she was wearing an oxygen mask. With her small mouth and small nose, she breathed evenly inside the oxygen mask.
"Little guy... I am your sister Fang Weiyang, your father is Shen Huai, your mother is Xu Xuan, you must remember her, she sacrificed her life for you..." I muttered like a fool.
After she said this, I saw her little feet kick and her eyelids move slightly.
A very strange feeling arose in my heart.
"Of course she will remember that she has such a good father, mother and sister."
Hearing the voice behind me, I turned around and saw July. She walked up to me and stood side by side, looking at the little life in the insulation room together. The gentle and doting look in her eyes startled me.
July accompanied Shen Huai and I to deal with my mother's funeral, just as I had accompanied her before.
From early morning to dusk, from rushing around to working hard, this spring rain lingered and fell continuously for a week.
I found that I couldn't shed a single tear.
Only then did I understand that when people are sad to a certain extent, they cannot shed tears.
At my suggestion, Shen Huai buried his mother's ashes in the cemetery where Grandma Zhuang was. I think that in this way, Mom and Grandma Zhuang can have each other's company.
Shen Huai gave the newborn baby a nice name - Shen Nianxuan.
Shen Nianxuan, Nianxuan.
Those deceased relatives will always exist in the hearts of their living relatives, forever.
