Chapter 2 If I had never seen the sun Lu Shuang 04
I didn't tell Su Xin that I was going to work at the newspaper, because I was afraid that this job would be ruined by her like the previous ones. And this might really be my last chance, so I must seize it.
I got up very early because Lu Lan had to go to cram school. After sending him to school, I went directly to the newspaper office according to the address.
It was just past 7:30 and no one had opened the door yet, so I stood at the door alone for a while.
What I didn't expect was that the second person to come was the reporter. She was yawning, looked like she hadn't gotten enough sleep, and had dark circles under her eyes.
I took a look at the work badge hanging on her chest. The name column read "Yu Nansheng" and her position was intern reporter.
The name is just like her, very scholarly and really nice.
When she saw me, she was obviously stunned for a moment and asked, "Why are you here?"
I glanced at her without much enthusiasm: "Go to work."
Yu Nansheng seemed very surprised. After a second of silence, he said, "Did reporter Shen arrange for you to come in?"
Her expression was as if she had seen an alien creature, she was quite shocked, and I didn't know what she meant, so I just said coldly: "Do you think I'm not qualified to work here?"
Yu Nansheng was stunned for a moment, then quickly shook his head and waved his hands: "I didn't mean that. I just... I just felt that Reporter Shen looked very cold-blooded sometimes. I didn't know he would care about this kind of thing."
I didn't say anything. I guess there's nothing much to talk about between me and a girl like her.
Oh no, that's not right. I have nothing to say to most people in this world.
Seeing my cold face, Yu Nansheng thought I was still angry with her. She paused for a moment and suddenly thought of something: "Have you had breakfast? I brought some snacks to fill your stomach."
I looked at her with a bit of suspicion. To be honest, I didn't expect her to have good intentions towards me. After all, she had accused me of being greedy for money yesterday. I think I must be very unbearable in her eyes. My biggest shortcoming is probably that I am suspicious by nature and find it difficult to accept other people's kindness.
So, after a brief silence, I turned my head and said calmly, "No need, I've eaten."
Yu Nansheng took another step towards me and handed me a box of biscuits : "It's okay, there's still a long time until lunch, you can save them and eat them anytime."
I avoided her hand, my eyes sharpened: "I said no, don't you understand what I'm saying?"
Yu Nansheng pulled his hand back a little embarrassedly: "Actually, I just feel that I may not be as good as reporter Shen in handling this matter. You are indeed still young, and I shouldn't use such harsh words to you. Instead of scolding you, it is better to help you arrange a more normal job, so that you can make money and will not make mistakes again."
I don't know why, but I feel particularly disgusted by her words. Even if it's a confession, it sounds so disgusting.
I looked at her maliciously and slapped the biscuit out of her hand. "I don't need people like you to tell me what's right and wrong. It's up to you to judge right and wrong from your own perspective, but please stay away from me in the future. I hate people like you the most in my life."
Yu Nansheng was stunned. She obviously didn't expect that her kindness would be treated like this. But she didn't show the pitiful expression of being betrayed. She just bent down to pick up the biscuits on the ground and responded lightly: "Since you think so, I have nothing to defend myself. You can think whatever you want."
This sentence actually made me like her better. I don't like people who are too enthusiastic or too righteous.
In fact, girls are normal and likable. I am the dark and narrow-minded one, and sometimes I think my personality is really annoying.
Yu Nansheng and I waited for a while at the door of the newspaper office, and the editor with the key came to open the door. The director in charge of chores briefly told me how to deal with the sundries in the newspaper office. My job was not difficult, but it was quite miscellaneous. From cleaning to delivering documents, to counting the number of takeouts and purchasing office necessities, I was responsible for everything.
The whole newspaper office was very busy, and once they started working, they had little time to deal with other people, so not many people paid attention to my existence, and only knew that there was an extra hand to do odd jobs. No one greeted me, and I was happy to be alone.
In fact, I had been waiting for Shen Yuxi to show up. I wanted to see what he was like when he was working. But when everyone else in the newspaper office arrived, he still didn't show up.
It was not until the end of the get off work day at noon that he came in with a SLR camera on his back. He looked a little tired and handed a pile of documents to the editor of the social section: "The case of dead pork on the market has been settled now. The follow-up content is here. If there is no better news in this issue, put it on the headline of the social section."
The editor took the file and nodded. "Okay, reporter Shen, you've worked hard. If it weren't for you, we probably wouldn't have been able to pursue this case halfway. Those vendors are all colluding with each other, and they are very confident. Many newspapers wanted to follow up but were scared off. You are the one with the courage."
Shen Yuxi didn't respond. He picked up a folder from the desk and flipped through it. He looked serious and had an indescribable strong aura. Once he started working, his whole body seemed to glow.
I wanted to thank him, but Yu Nansheng had already gotten there first and came to Shen Yuxi with a pile of manuscripts: "Reporter Shen, I have revised the manuscript of yesterday's news. Do you think this is okay?"
Shen Yuxi took her manuscript, glanced at it, frowned, and said, "Do you think this is your school's newspaper?"
Yu Nansheng was stunned for a moment, scratching his head in confusion: "What did you say?"
"Naive, childish. Putting this kind of thing in the school newspaper to fool the kids in the ivory tower is the limit." Shen Yuxi threw the manuscript aside and said lightly, "I have asked reporter Xie to write a page for this news and submit it."
Yu Nansheng stood there, stunned for a second, then bit her lip, looking a little aggrieved. But she just bowed to Shen Yuxi and said, "Thank you reporter Shen for your teachings. I will continue to work hard."
After saying that, she turned around and walked back to her desk and continued to read the journalism books that were piled up like a mountain on the table.
To be honest, I admire her endurance. She can continue to work hard without getting angry or making a fuss in such a situation. This is rare for a girl like her who came out of an ivory tower.
Seeing Yu Nansheng's disappointment, I went to the rest area and filled a disposable cup with warm water, then walked towards Shen Yuxi, trying to make my expression look kinder, although I knew that no matter how warm my expression was, it would still appear cold: "Reporter Shen...thank you for introducing me to a job."
Shen Yuxi was originally thinking about something with her head down. When she looked up and saw me, she frowned slightly and said, "You don't have to keep this in mind. I just saw that you have good grades and I don't want you to be buried. I hope you cherish this opportunity. I am not that kind. There won't be a next time."
My body froze, and I could only curl my lips awkwardly. After a long while, I finally said, "I just want to say thank you, nothing else."
Upon hearing this, Shen Yuxi continued to look through the documents and ignored me.
I laughed at myself. I was laughing at Yu Nansheng's enthusiasm, which only resulted in Shen Yuxi's ridicule. I didn't expect that I was the same. Maybe Shen Yuxi was a very cold person. Although she helped me, she didn't want to have more interactions with me.
In fact, this situation did not exceed my expectations. I didn’t think there was anyone in this world who would always care about me.
But for a moment, I still felt a little bit of indescribable loss in my heart.
