Volume 9: The reins handed over Chapter 538 Preparation
As the boat sailed across the ocean, Jon did not return to Northern Europe after meeting Sir Stoke.
Instead, it came to the UK without almost anyone knowing.
He changed his appearance and traveled to many places secretly.
The orphanage where he lived for a year after he traveled through time.
Among them, those of his age in previous years had already left, and the director of the orphanage was replaced by an old man he did not recognize.
Jon didn't have much attachment to this place, but after all, it was where his original body had lived for ten years.
Then he came to Diagon Alley. It was the same as the previous times he came here. The purebloods were on top, and the Muggles could only kneel numbly on the ground as slaves who were not even qualified to be human beings.
Soon, he left Diagon Alley again and came to the cemetery where countless wizards who had died in resisting Voldemort were buried.
He saw the skeleton kneeling in front of Harry and James' grave, the fake tombstones that had been made to cover Slughorn's hiding, and the names on those tombstones that were either strange or familiar.
Afterwards, he came to the seaside where the freshman entrance ceremony was held when he first entered Hogwarts, the flower field where the banquet was held to rescue the students in the castle, and every place where the carriage stopped.
Until the end, Jon returned to the mountains and the shores of the Black Lake.
Hogwarts Castle was of course closely guarded. Although it was already deserted at this time, Voldemort obviously still attached great importance to it, and there were more than a dozen Aurors patrolling here every day.
But for John, avoiding the inspections of these Aurors was of course a very easy task.
He came to the castle and first went to the basement where he had lived for more than half a year, and then wandered around the castle like a ghost.
This was his first time back in Hogwarts Castle since the Triwizard Tournament, and Jon could clearly feel that the response this castle gave him was completely different from every time he had been there before.
He could clearly feel that the castle itself had its own thoughts.
In the empty principal's office, Jon stroked the cold, rough and hard stone wall and spoke softly.
"You also want to go back to the way things were before, don't you?"
It was still quiet around him, but Jon could feel the castle's answer to him.
It was feeling aggrieved and wailing, feeling sad that a paradise built for children had turned into what it is today.
"Don't worry, it won't be long, and we'll be back to the way things were before."
He comforted softly, and the promise he made didn't sound like a promise, but more like a statement of fact.
"Can you leave me something? Some emotionally intense magic."
The castle's consciousness seemed to think for a while, but soon it urged and guided Jon, leading him to the secret room that originally belonged to Slytherin.
Jon remembered this place. Hermione had been here during the Triwizard Tournament and had discovered the trapped Peeves.
But now there is nothing here, only a dirty clown hat left on the ground.
The texture of the hat seemed to be between real and unreal. Jon could clearly touch it with his hand, but it felt extremely unreal.
But when Jon held the hat in his hand, he understood everything.
"That's enough. That's what I need most."
The whole castle was rejoicing. Its joy was a mixture of satisfaction at the help Jon could provide, and anticipation for the near future he had promised.
After staying in England for a day, Jon left the island of Great Britain.
He returned to the base of the Nordic Wizarding Horizon. The situation had become more tense. Although Voldemort had not yet shown up, the confrontation between conventional wizards had entered a white-hot stage. The front line in Germany was shifting all the time, and no one knew where the war would spread to the next day.
Therefore, when Jon returned to Northern Europe, most of the forces in the Witch Front had been mobilized to the front line , and except for some necessary positions, there were almost no people left in the rear.
When he came back and wanted to find the professors in the school, only McGonagall was still waiting for him.
"I heard from Kingsley and the others what you wanted."
Before Jon could explain his purpose, Mag had already handed something to him.
"We guessed that you would come to us, but Filius and Lily can no longer wait for you here. Germany is in urgent need of manpower. After I hand these things to you on their behalf, I will leave immediately."
Jon took the things from her, among them was a silver ring, obviously the one that Flitwick always wore on his hand, and an old "Beginner's Guide to Transfiguration", which was obviously a special item belonging to Magg herself, and was now handed to Jon. The last one was a small magic toy broom belonging to Lily.
This was something that Harry from this world left behind when he was a child, and it has always been her most precious memory.
Mag seemed to sense a sense of farewell, and also seemed to feel sad that Jon had to bear the expectations of so many people at such a young age.
Her eyes were red and she hugged Jon.
"If it really comes to that, you must protect yourself!"
Jon didn't answer, he just hugged Mag as well and patted her back.
"Be careful on the battlefield, professor. The future Hogwarts will be waiting for you to preside over the Sorting."
Mag let go of Jon, wiped her eyes, and said with a smile.
"That day will ."
After handing the things to Jon, Magg did not stay here any longer. There were still many things for her to do on the front line, and being able to wait for Jon to come back here was the time she had squeezed out with great difficulty.
Jon stayed in the room alone, sorting out all the "gifts" he had received in the past two days and keeping them all properly.
Then he stayed alone for a while, and after thinking for a moment, he pushed open the door.
He asked many people and finally found Hermione in a makeshift first aid station near the front line.
She acts as a temporary nurse here, and when the battle situation becomes most critical, she will also go to the front line as a soldier.
Hermione was very busy at work, so Jon did not disturb her. Instead, after arriving at the shelter, he was also treated as a volunteer and participated in the work here.
It was not until the break, when Hermione sat down tiredly in a chair, that she saw Jon handing her a glass of water.
"I thought you wouldn't come to see me."
