Volume 7: A World with Bad Consequences Chapter 482 Magic is Power
Dumbledore shook his head calmly.
"If I had to say what I regret most, Riddle, it's not that I recruited you to Hogwarts, but that when I discovered that there was something wrong with your thinking early on, I didn't guide you properly, but was wary of you. I have been reflecting on this over the years. Hogwarts has the reputation of a magic school, and it deserves the name of magic, but it cannot be called a qualified school. When the children were 11 years old, their parents handed them over to us, but there has never been any subject in Hogwarts to teach them how to be an upright person. This is what I think is missing in magic education, and you are the biggest embodiment of this problem."
Faced with Dumbledore's heartfelt words, Voldemort just sneered.
"Put away your fakeness. You know what I hate most is that you always talk about emotions. At the beginning, I asked you what the most powerful was, and you told me it was love. But later I proved that there are things in this world that are far more powerful than that so-called love. Wizards need emotions to cast spells. Is it really love that can burst out with such powerful power? It is human greed! It is the desire for power! It is the endless pursuit of strength!"
He clenched the magic wand in his hand, which was made of Fox's tail feathers as the core, and made a declaration that was enough to show his life philosophy.
"The existence of wizards proves one thing! An individual can be stronger than a group! What does this mean? It means that God has destined one of us to become the master of this world! But all the people recorded in the history of magic are a bunch of parasites with no ambition! They only want to live a mediocre life, and even revised the Statute of Secrecy for a period of time. Are they proud of living a life like a mouse? It's ridiculous. We should have mastered this powerful power earlier than Muggles, so why are we willing to hide in the shadow of this world?"
"Your so-called theory of fairness and equality is simply impossible to establish. If there were no wizards in this world, and everyone had no physiological differences from the beginning, then perhaps it would be true. However, the existence of magic has naturally divided us and Muggles into two species, and the strength of magic is destined to make it impossible for the magic world to maintain that kind of hypocritical peace!"
"Why should I be on an equal footing with those mediocre people when I am so strong? Why should I be on equal terms with them when I can kill them with just the movement of my fingers, which is easier than killing an ant? The fraternity you have always insisted on is a fallacy! The magic world should be a world where the strong prey on the weak! I am stronger than everyone else, so they should submit to me! This is the law of all things, and it is the truth that you keep trying to hide with the disgusting cloaks of so-called fairness and fraternity!"
"The ancient wizards were extremely ignorant. They possessed such powerful power, but they were forced by Muggles to create the Statute of Secrecy! That Gellert Grindelwald, who was only in name only, was stupid and ignorant. He wanted to go to war with Muggles before he integrated the wizarding world! Only I am the leader of the new era! I was born with noble blood and possess unparalleled magical talent. I understand this world better than anyone else! I understand the existence of wizards better than anyone else!"
In the empty main hall, Voldemort's high and excited voice echoed.
"You are just a remnant of the old times, Dumbledore! You are simply unwilling to accept the truth of this world. You have lied so much that you have even deceived yourselves! You have great power but you have to restrain yourself. Then why should you control this power in your hands? See this statue? Magic is power! Not that ridiculous love! Not to mention those politicians who wield power in the Ministry of Magic when you declare your love! The real master of this era is me!"
He swung the wand in his hand, without chanting any spell, but just pointed the tip of the wand at Dumbledore!
The surroundings were filled with black fog, seemingly expanding and boiling according to the mood of their owners at the moment.
Listening to Voldemort's powerful declaration, Dumbledore just shook his head calmly.
"If magic is really a powerful force, you should have submitted to your other self long ago. Why did you resist only today?"
The air froze instantly.
The originally swirling black fog also became still as if it had been hit by a petrification spell.
Voldemort's face looked extremely bad, as if Dumbledore had said something taboo that he could not possibly hear!
"Don't mention him to me!"
He yelled angrily.
"What the hell is he! A weakling who escapes! A despicable robber! If it weren't for him, I would have accomplished all my goals long ago! If it weren't for him, things wouldn't have turned out so badly today!"
"Even if you don't want to admit it, Riddle, if it weren't for him, you wouldn't have achieved what you have today. It's because you understand that you are the same as him, but you are inferior to him in every way, that you are so angry."
Dumbledore raised his wand as he spoke.
Voldemort's expression became even colder, but he was not angry to the point of going crazy. The more times like this happened, the better he seemed to be able to control his temper.
"Whether you admit it or not, this duel proves that magic is power. Now it all depends on who is stronger and who will be the final winner!"
As soon as he finished speaking, the surrounding black fog rose up instantly, like a living beast, rushing towards Dumbledore!
Dumbledore simply shook the wand in his hand lightly, and the next second, golden flames lit up beside him, confronting the black beast head-on!
At the same time, on the floor below the main hall, in the Department of Mysteries.
Slughorn left the Department of Mysteries yesterday evening on the pretext of something, but like John, he returned and hid in the director's office.
The door of the office was kept closed. Slughorn had cast a special spell on it, and even the Unlocking Charm could not open it.
And they had been observing the time turner here since noon as Dumbledore had said, but until they heard the noises from above, they had not noticed anything unusual.
The pointer of the time converter was still spinning, as if it would never stop. Jon and the others could only stare at it.
They knew very well that the battle was going on, and Dumbledore was engaging in a duel with Voldemort that would determine the future of the entire wizarding world, but John now had countless doubts in his mind that could not be answered.
"Professor Dumbledore will never forget that there is more than one Voldemort now. Even if he can successfully defeat this one, there is another one that is more cunning and more powerful."
"Voldemort hasn't made any moves until now. I don't think he is incapable of doing anything. Just like he sent so many people to guard the Department of Mysteries, it means that he has been planning some things. And now the duel between the professor and Voldemort has begun, but he hasn't shown up, which means that he is happy to see this duel. So, is he thinking of letting both of them lose and then he will benefit?"
Slughorn had no way to answer Jon's questions, and he didn't know why.
Jon knew very well in his heart that since he could think of these things, there was no reason for Dumbledore to ignore them.
But he never said these things from beginning to end, which means he already had arrangements.
And what has he been arranging up to now?
Looking at the time-turner, Jon narrowed his eyes .
