Volume 7: A World with Bad Consequences Chapter 458: Durmstrang Graduate Sister
Jon and Hermione were treated very warmly by the Delacour family.
Their trip went very smoothly, and they found Gabrielle's father, mother and sister without any setbacks.
It was not until the lunchtime dinner table that they had the opportunity to exchange information with each other.
After the Delacour family fled from France in an emergency, they first settled down in Germany, and the first thing they thought of was to bring Gabrielle over.
But by that time Voldemort had completely occupied the whole of France, and the reformatory had been set up. France was in chaos, and the Delacour family had no chance to reconnect with any of their previous connections in France.
By that time, Madame Maxime had already fled from Beauxbatons. Even if they could contact someone, there was no way for them to find their little daughter who had turned into a ghost and was entrusted to Hogwarts.
Later, due to the confrontation between the Wizarding World and Voldemort, Germany became unsafe, and the fierce bloodline theorists began to create chaos everywhere. In desperation, the Delacour family could only continue to move north and came to Herning, Denmark.
They lived there for about half a year, and it was during that time that the entire Delacour family began to adopt Muggle living habits.
The increasingly deteriorating situation in the wizarding world has made them prepared. If it really comes to an inevitable point, they would rather abandon their wizard identities and everything related to magic and become Muggles rather than become slaves of pure-bloods.
Similarly, even at this time, the family did not give up the idea of finding Gabrielle. Mr. Delacour thought of countless ways to reconnect with his previous contacts in France to try to get some information.
However, that was the most intense period of the war, just before the Wu Ping Line broke through the correctional facility. Mr. Delacour's attempt not only failed to achieve any results, but also exposed the information that his family was hiding in Haining.
They were forced to move for the second time, and after this, Mr. Delacour, as the head of the family, finally made up his mind to first protect the safety of his wife and eldest daughter. He chose to believe in Madame Maxime's ability and believed that she would definitely be able to take good care of Gabrielle.
Then they came to Aarhus, changed their surnames, and settled down there permanently. Mr. Delacour finally used magic to create a legal fake identity for their family in Muggle society, and then sealed up all the wands of the family members.
They have begun to understand and get used to the daily lives of Muggles. Even if they were harassed in the past few months, they would call the police to resolve the problem.
And just under such circumstances, Jon and Hermione came with Gabrielle.
Jon also made a statement to the Delacour family regarding what had happened in the wizarding world in the last two years.
From the battle to capture the reformatory not long after their family decided to completely cut off ties with the wizarding world, to the Triwizard Tournament when only Paris and Beauxbatons were left in France, to the Wizarding World having completely recovered all of France.
Only now did the Delacour family know what had happened in the wizarding world when they had completely lost hope in it.
Gabrielle's father was ashamed of this.
He confessed to Jon his incompetence. When he encountered such a situation, he could only choose to escape instead of joining forces with people around him to resist.
Jon comforted him by saying that at that time, since the Wizarding Line had not yet been formed, escape was the right choice.
If they had really chosen to resist at that time, the Delacour family would definitely not be able to cause any waves, and the whole family would have disappeared from the face of the earth.
The key to the French wizards' confidence in fighting against Voldemort was actually Dumbledore.
Only with top-notch combat power that could go head-on with Voldemort himself, would the Wizarding World be qualified to challenge the two magical governments of Britain and France at the time.
Jon certainly didn't include himself in the story of these great events.
But even if he didn't say it, Gabrielle, who had already wiped away her tears, couldn't sit still. She told her parents and sister all her experiences with John when she became a ghost, like pouring beans.
To be honest, Gabrielle's experience is much more exciting than that of most Hogwarts students.
When she was still in ghost form, she followed Jon to the Arctic, which was a trip that could be said to be a deep dive into the tiger's den.
It was from her that Mr. and Mrs. Delacour learned that the seemingly harmless young man in front of them was not as peaceful as he appeared.
After talking about everything, they had a sumptuous lunch in Delacourga, and then of course the family would move back to France.
But there was no need to be so hasty in taking action. They had already lived here for a year and there were still some things to pack. It was impossible for people to just disappear. Interpersonal relationships in Muggle society also had to be managed, so there was no rush to leave that day.
After Jon and Hermione took Gabrielle to find her family, they were not in a hurry to go back.
It was summer vacation now, and they had never been to Denmark. With the kind invitation from the Delacour family, there was really no problem for them to stay here for a few days.
So after deciding to stay for two days, John first wrote a letter to Dumbledore, informing him that the trip went smoothly and asking him to help tell Madame Maxime that she could rest assured.
As the second largest city in Denmark and also a port city, Aarhus does have many places worth visiting.
The old buildings here are basically in Gothic style. The most famous of them is St. Clemens Cathedral in the city center. This church retains a part of the old part from 1197. It underwent a major revision in the 15th century and became a Gothic architectural style. It was repaired again in the 1960s and 1970s and a spire was added.
The afternoon outing was mainly led by Gabrielle's sister Fleur , who seemed to have not seen her sister for a long time and had a lot of things to talk about. She led Gabrielle in front, while Jon and Hermione followed behind them.
"My mother is religious, and I followed her in primary school when I first prayed before meals. But after I was taken to Hogwarts Castle, I stopped believing."
Hermione looked up at the church that bore the marks of time.
"Perhaps there really is a god in this world, but it is most likely not an omnipotent God, but an extremely powerful wizard discovered by Muggles."
Jon also said.
"In fact, I used to be very surprised why a large number of wizards still have the habit of believing in religion. After all, if you have a deep understanding of magic, you will know that the essence of magic we master is actually the ability to make your wishes come true, and magic power is the source of this ability. Wizards already have this ability, so why do we still believe that there is a God in this world? At that time, I asked this question to my teacher, Professor Slughorn, and he told me that magic also has its limits, just like no one can violate Gamp's Law of Transfiguration. Even the most powerful wizards cannot create food out of thin air, or even turn another inedible thing into something edible. Precisely because wizards cannot do it, they imagine that the omnipotent God can do it, so the doctrine can be spread in the magic world."
"Moreover, whether or not to believe in religion is not determined by whether wizards have extraordinary abilities that Muggles don't have, but by whether individuals have a materialistic worldview that believes that matter determines consciousness. The magic we use obviously breaks this law. Magic allows will to change matter, which leads to wizards being more likely than Muggles to believe that there is an omniscient and omnipotent God in this world who can control the world through consciousness."
Hermione saw the cross right in front of the church.
"Perhaps it is because the true laws of magic have not yet been discovered? Magic has no consciousness, so it is also a kind of matter. Is it possible that the so-called influence of the world by wizards through will is just like Muggles mastering the use of tools, just artificially using matter to change another matter?"
"I seem to have seen someone study this problem somewhere." Jon pondered.
Before he could come up with an answer, Hermione had already pointed out the source of this conjecture.
"It's in the library of Durmstrang. Some of the notes are proposing various hypotheses like this. These are obviously not questions that a pure wizard would raise."
When he heard her mention the library in Durmstrang, a look of realization appeared on Jon's face.
That's not surprising then.
It is not surprising that some strange knowledge appears in Durmstrang, especially since Jon has some inside information about what Grindelwald is doing.
"Just talk to each other, don't tell anyone else. If some paranoid wizard hears it, we'll probably be in trouble."
Their conversation was not loud, but because Fleur and Gabrielle were walking in front of them, they could vaguely hear some of it.
But obviously, even though Fleur had been exposed to Muggle society for some time, she couldn't understand these things. She just looked down at Gabrielle with a strange expression and asked in a low voice.
"Are they in love? This way of communication between lovers is really strange."
"no!"
Gabrielle answered loudly and confidently, but more like in a tantrum.
While Furong was still wondering why she reacted so strongly, an unexpected voice suddenly interrupted their conversation.
"Professor Green?"
The four of them were stunned by this sudden address, and it took Jon a few seconds to realize that the address was directed at him.
He turned to look at the source of the sound, and saw a girl dressed as a nun who had just walked out of the church, staring at him with wide eyes and waving.
"Who are you?"
The nun turned around and whispered a few words to an old lady beside her. Then the old lady, who looked to be in her seventies or eighties, looked at Jon deeply, then turned and left.
The nun who had obtained permission trotted happily to Jon's side.
"Helene Rosier, Professor, you probably don't have much impression of me, but you should still remember my cousin Daisy, right? I am only two months younger than her."
Hearing her self-introduction and the title of professor, Jon was certain that this was a student of Durmstrang.
Or should I say former students.
She was only two months younger than Daisy, which meant they were in the same grade, and now that Daisy was done with the Triwizard Tournament semester, she should be a graduate, and so should this girl named Helin.
It’s just that after graduating from Durmstrang, students come to the Danish church to become nuns?
Although Jon was nominally a professor at Durmstrang, he really didn't know much about the employment options after graduating from this magic school.
Is the selection so wide?
"I felt like you from a distance, but I didn't dare to recognize you. The last time I saw you was on the night of the Triwizard Tournament. I remember that you became younger due to some magic, but I didn't expect that you would be back to your original age so quickly."
Helin was obviously a very enthusiastic girl. She grabbed Jon's arm without any hesitation and started talking to herself.
Jon was very smart and pulled his arm out of the arms of the girl who looked like a new nun.
Only at this point did Hailin seem to notice the other people around her.
She looked familiar with the little girl who was glaring at her angrily. When Gabrielle was in Durmstrang, she ran around everywhere relying on her ghost identity, and many students of Durmstrang knew her.
As for Hermione, whose facial expression seemed to have not changed and who was still smiling but whose eyes were slightly narrowed, she was even more familiar with her.
As one of the students who followed Vida Rosier to watch the game at Hogwarts Castle this year, she certainly knew that the girl with long chestnut hair and a baseball cap was Jon's dance partner at last year's dance.
The only person she hadn't seen was Fleur, but based on her face which was a larger version of Gabrielle's, she could guess what the relationship between them was with a little thinking.
"Professor, are you traveling?"
Helene waved at Gabrielle, Hermione, Fleur and the other three and asked with an ambiguous smile.
It can be seen that Rosier is obviously not as serious as her sister Daisy. She must be thinking about something rude in her mind. Jon patted her head without hesitation.
"I'm here to take Gabrielle to her family. Don't think I don't know what you're thinking. Do you think you can stop being respectful after leaving Durmstrang?"
It is rare for Jon to use his status as a professor to teach someone a lesson, mainly because the students at Durmstrang are almost all subordinate to Grindelwald, and they have basically accepted Jon's identity as a professor, especially after the Triwizard Tournament.
