Volume 7: A World with Bad Consequences Chapter 457 Promise
Aarhus, located on the eastern coast of Jutland, is the second largest city in Denmark.
According to the information obtained by Madame Maxime, the Delacour family is hiding here.
As an old friend of the Delacour family, after escaping from France, Madame Maxime had indeed been investigating the whereabouts of Gabrielle's parents, just as she had told Dumbledore before.
But the whole of Europe is so big, and it is not easy to find a wizard who can use magic and potions to change his appearance.
She could only find out through some of her connections in Northern Europe that there was once a girl named Furong who looked very much like Sister Gabrielle and was once seen in Herning, a city in central Denmark.
After all, she is a half-Veela, so whenever she shows her true face, she always leaves a very deep impression on others.
Following the news, Madame Maxime traced the matter and found out that the Delacour family moved again, from Herning to Aarhus.
Following this clue, John, Hermione and Gabrielle came to this coastal city.
Madame Maxime did not come with them because the French temporary Ministry of Magic had reconnected with her, and now the entire Beauxbatons was still in the control stage when it was first taken over.
She, an experienced witch who had served as the principal for many years, was needed to go back immediately to take charge of the situation and prepare to start the work of receiving this year's new students which was about to begin.
After arriving in Aarhus, Jon and his friends did not hide their identities.
Although John is now almost known to everyone in the wizarding world, he is not so eye-catching in the eyes of Muggles.
And letting Gabrielle remain in her original appearance will also help her family to discover her better.
"Where do we start?"
Gabrielle, who was wearing a dress, seemed to have rarely seen so many people. She hid behind Jon, looked at the people coming and going on the street, and asked in a low voice.
Jon was studying a letter left by Madame Maxime. It said that in a neighborhood on the west outskirts of Aarhus, there was a Dumb family who provided intelligence to Madame Maxime.
The only ones who can live in such a big Muggle city and integrate into its life are the Squibs who have escaped from the magical world and are disliked by most wizards.
Especially in recent years, conflicts in the wizarding world have become increasingly intense, and the Squibs' lives have become even more difficult. Many of them have completely cut off their ties with the wizarding world, given up their pride and fantasy of still being "wizards", and completely integrated into the life and society of Muggles.
"Dennis Cass, this is the person we need to look for first. According to the information given to us by Madame Maxime, he was the one who sent a message saying that he saw someone who looked like your father, mother, and sister in Aarhus two months ago."
Hermione had already looked at the city map in front of a bus stop next to them, and she quickly found the street they needed to go to.
"It 's not very far from us, maybe we can just take a taxi there."
Of course they had money for the taxi. When they first arrived here, the wizards stationed here gave them some local currency.
Of course, the money was not a lot, but it was enough for them to use for three or four days without being too frugal.
Of course Jon gladly accepted the suggestion. He waved to stop a taxi and, since he didn't speak Danish, he showed the driver the place name on the letter.
It seemed like Gabrielle was riding in a car for the first time. She was very curious about this large iron box-like means of transportation for Muggles. She sat in the back seat with Hermione, looking around like a country girl who had just come to the city from the countryside.
The driver seemed talkative and started off by saying a long paragraph in Danish, but Jon could only respond in English that he didn't understand.
The two of them suddenly had no way to communicate because the driver's English sounded very poor. After he said something, Jon had to think for a long time before he could understand what he meant.
Soon they arrived at the location mentioned in the letter.
This is a courtyard that doesn't look very big. There is a two-story building with a red roof in the courtyard. It is surrounded by green lawns and a small garden.
Jon, Hermione and Gabrielle pushed open the courtyard gate, came to the door and knocked on it.
Not long after, footsteps were heard from inside, and then a boy who looked only six or seven years old pushed open the door and blinked at them.
Jon waved at him, a smile on his face.
"Excuse me, does Dennis Cass live here?"
The boy obviously understood English. He looked at Jon, then at Hermione, and finally at Gabrielle who was standing next to Jon.
For some reason, his face suddenly turned red, and then he turned around and shouted into the house.
"Mom! Someone's looking for Dad."
Along with the boy's shouting, a woman in an apron soon walked out of the room as if she had just put down the vacuum cleaner in her hand. She looked at Jon and the others in confusion.
"you……"
"It's Madame Maxime." Jon showed her the letter in his hand, "Your husband's friend, ma'am. We are her juniors, and she asked us to visit."
Apparently, Mrs. Cass knew Maxim. After confirming the letter in Jon's hand, she invited the three of them into the house and asked them to sit in the living room and rest first. Dennis Cass worked in a nearby supermarket and would come back for lunch.
Then she prepared tea and cakes for them. When the boy named Henry Cass brought the biscuits, he kept looking at Gabrielle secretly.
Of course Gabrielle noticed his gaze and pulled her mouth to make a face at him, causing the boy to shyly run away and hide behind his mother.
Mrs. Cass seemed to have no idea what kind of status her husband held, and she really only regarded Jon and his arrival as a polite visit from the younger generation of a friend.
She put down the housework in her hands, sat on the sofa and chatted with Jon.
They were all normal inquiries, asking Jon who he was to Madame Maxime, what school he was attending, and what he was doing in Denmark.
Of course, Jon avoided these questions with vague words.
Since Mr. Cass had concealed the affairs of the magical world from his family, he naturally had his own ideas. John had no intention of ruining the couple's relationship before they even met.
Some words were hard to make up even on the spot, but luckily Hermione was there to help her, and Gabrielle was so well behaved that she didn't say a word from the beginning, and only then did she deal with Mrs. Cass.
At around 11:30 am, a middle-aged man with a medium build and a slightly bald head returned home.
He was Dennis Cass, whom Jon and his team were looking for.
After seeing Jon and the others, this Squib who had been away from the wizarding world for a long time was obviously stunned for a moment. After hearing his wife introduce them as the descendants of Madame Maxime, the expression on his face became obviously solemn.
Dennis found an excuse to get his wife and son away, and took Jon and the others to the study to prepare a closed environment for conversation.
Jon didn't say anything polite and just handed over Madame Maxime's letter.
"We are from France, Mr. Cass, and we are students at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The main reason for our visit is that you contacted Madame Maxime before and told her that you had heard any news about the Delacour family?"
Mr. Dennis finished reading the letter, then turned his gaze to Gabrielle, who was looking at him nervously. He could obviously recognize her as the youngest daughter of the Delacour family.
"You didn't say anything to my family?"
The first thing he asked was whether the matter about wizards had been leaked. Jon and Hermione looked at each other, their previous concealment was obviously well considered.
"No, sir, I told Madam that we were both nephews and nieces of Madame Maxime and did not reveal anything about the wizarding world."
Hearing them say this, Dennis breathed a sigh of relief and explained.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to question you. You are students of Hogwarts, and you should know how unsafe the wizarding world has been in recent years. I have always kept the affairs of that world a secret from my family because I don't want them to be targeted by someone and live in fear all day long."
Jon certainly understood this.
"The news about the Delacour family actually came two months ago. The local newspaper reported that the police had caught two sexual harassment criminals who harassed a mother and daughter who lived at 9 Cromwell Street all day long. The news recorded that the daughter's name was Fleur Wilk, and she was as beautiful as her mother. Because I learned about the appearance of the Delacour family from Madame Maxime before, I felt that the mother and daughter in this incident should be them."
After listening to Dennis's statement, Jon also felt that it was very similar to the description of Gabrielle's mother and sister.
As mother and daughter with Veela blood, it is normal for them to encounter sexual harassment. They cannot control the passive charm-like magic at all. If it is a pure-blooded Veela, normal wizards will find it difficult to resist, let alone Muggles.
It is difficult to distinguish them based on their hair. People with silver hair are not uncommon in Denmark and Northern Europe, but this is also a piece of evidence.
After getting the exact news from Dennis, Jon and the others did not stay for lunch.
Dennis also saw that Gabrielle couldn't wait to throw herself into her parents' arms, so he didn't have the intention to keep them. Instead, he and his wife and son sent them out the door.
Cromwell Street is a little far from where they are now, but for Jon and his friends, any problem that can be solved with money is not a problem.
This was the amount of funding they received, and even if they wanted to save it, they would have nowhere to spend it after leaving Denmark.
I called another taxi and drove to the Cromwell Street that Dennis mentioned.
Things went exceptionally smoothly, and before long, they found the location of No. 9.
This is also a yard, basically no different from where Cass lives, but Gabrielle became very nervous after coming here. She kept grabbing the corner , as if she was afraid that she was dreaming and would wake up if she let go of Jon's clothes.
Hermione held Gabrielle's other hand and gave an encouraging smile, which helped the little girl ease some of her tension.
Then, they walked into the courtyard of 9 Cromwell Street, looking more like a family of three, and knocked on the door.
Within a few seconds, the door was opened from the inside.
The person who opened the door was a girl who looked like an enlarged Gabrielle, with long, smooth silver hair. When the door was opened, Gabrielle could be seen standing between Jon and Hermione.
The girl was obviously stunned, and Gabrielle didn't say anything at this moment, but her eyes began to turn red quickly, and tears were already welling up in the corners of her eyes!
"Gabrielle!"
The girl screamed.
She looked extremely excited and hugged Gabrielle excitedly on the spot, tears streaming down her face uncontrollably.
"Wow, sister..."
Gabrielle choked in her arms and couldn't utter the next sentence for a long time.
Everyone in the room also heard the girl's scream. A hurried sound of footsteps was heard, and a woman with the same silver-white hair as the sisters and a middle-aged man who looked particularly ordinary compared to the mother and her two daughters ran out.
They seemed to think that their daughter was in some danger, but after seeing the two figures, one big and one small, hugging each other, the couple screamed.
"Oh my God!"
"Honey! How could it be you!"
Jon and Hermione did not disturb Gabrielle's reunion with her family. They just stood outside the door without saying a word.
But Jon could see the envy that Hermione couldn't hide in her eyes when she saw the Delacour family hugging each other.
He couldn't help but wave in front of Hermione . When the girl with a ponytail and a baseball cap turned her head to look at him, Jon smiled.
"How about I accompany you to meet your parents after we return to England?"
Jon didn't think anything of it when he said this, but Hermione was slightly startled, then her face turned slightly red as she reached out to tuck a strand of hair behind her ear.
"That's not something you would say."
"Hey, what do you think I am, a stone in the toilet?"
Hermione blinked, obviously not quite understanding Jon's slang.
"That's not the case. You are definitely much stronger than a stone."
"Tsk, tsk, tsk, that sounds a bit wrong, but I'll take it as a compliment."
"I'll remember your promise. Can't you find other excuses to go back on your word later?"
Jon touched his chin in a questioning manner.
"What did I promise?"
Hermione didn't say anything, she just raised her leg and kicked him hard in the butt from behind!
