Volume 6: Summer Chapter 3: Collecting Clothes

It rained that night.
The raindrops fell into the grass leaves and onto the bluestone slabs.
It's warm in the house.
Jiang You pulled the quilt and wrapped it in his arms. After a few seconds, he frowned and looked around a few times. Then he heard some other sounds. He opened his eyes with great effort and saw a figure standing by the window. The sound of rain became louder and clearer. The window was opened and the wind blew in with a slightly cool rain.
Her upper body leaned out of the window, her pajamas clinging softly to her body.
"Sister Nan?" His voice was a little muffled and vague.
"It's raining, I'll bring the clothes in."
"What?"
He saw Chen Nan turn around and seemed to smile at him.
"Just keep sleeping, you'll be fine soon."
"Yeah." Jiang You closed his eyes and turned over.
His body felt heavy and his head was dizzy.
The window is closed.
The sound of rain became muffled.
The cool fabric slid across my back.
He fell into a deep sleep.
When he woke up, it was already daybreak. Light golden sunlight came in through the window. He saw his hand in the sunlight. The skin on the back of his hand was still a little uneven in color.
The sound of birds chirping came from outside the window. He reached out and felt behind the pillow and on the bedside table, but couldn't find his glasses. So he bent down and found his glasses and half a bottle of Coke under the bed.
He put on his glasses, opened the bottle cap, and drank the rest of the Coke in one gulp. After resting for a while, he picked up his phone to check the time. It was 9:08. Sister Nan sent him a WeChat message saying that she had gone to the bookstore and had left breakfast for him in the kitchen.
Jiang You sighed, stood up from the bed and walked to the window.
After a night, the grass in the yard seemed to grow thicker. The soil was still a little wet, and there were traces of water on the leaves, reflecting the sunlight.
Jiang You rubbed his brows with his hands and walked out of the bedroom.
He glanced in the direction of his side, and then as if he remembered something, he walked to the workbench, dragged out an electronic scale from underneath, stood on it, and looked at the numbers on the display. He had lost weight!
He quickly got off the scale, went to the bathroom to empty his stomach, and then stood on the scale again.
83 kilograms!
Lost two kilograms!
He walked to the side bedroom door, pushed it open, and walked in. "Look, what time is it? The sun is shining on your butt, why don't you get up?"
He pulled back Jiang Mo's quilt, only to see that there was only a pillow inside.
Then, Jiang Mo fell from the ceiling and knocked him onto the bed.
"Oh, my back, my waist, my little ancestor."
Jiang Mo moved and climbed down from Jiang You.
Jiang You tried hard to turn over. He looked at Jiang Mo and asked, "Are you overweight?"
Jiang Mo kicked him in the face.
"Smelly feet! Didn't you take a shower yesterday?"
Jiang Mo kicked him again, and this time Jiang You grabbed his ankle. "You're still talking big, aren't you?" Jiang You sat up. "I'm telling you, you have to work harder. To hold an exhibition, you need at least 30 paintings, right? How many do you have now? Look at it now, it's less than a month away from Children's Day, and it will take time to send them for framing, at least a week."
Jiang Mo struggled hard but failed to break free.
"I've made a plan for you. Starting today, you have to produce at least two drawings every day," Jiang You looked at him, "I'm talking to you, do you hear me?"
Jiang Mo twisted a bit but still couldn't break free. He pursed his lips and nodded.
"Then it's settled. You have to learn from me. I can gain weight or lose weight at will. I have lost another 10 pounds. Eight-pack abs are just around the corner." Jiang You released his hand that was holding Jiang Mo's ankle. He stood up and stretched. "There will be a book signing this afternoon. Do you want to go? Go and learn how others paint, and publish a book of paintings. You are grown up now, and it is time for you to take on the responsibility of supporting the family."
Jiang Mo finally couldn't stand it anymore.
A large ball of spider silk stuck to Jiang You's face.
Jiang You pulled the spider silk off and rubbed it in his hand, "I'm going to have breakfast, do you want to eat?"
Jiang Mo turned around and faced away from him.
"If you don't want to eat, then don't." Jiang You walked out of the door of the side bedroom. As soon as his legs went out, the door slammed shut.
After he went downstairs, he looked outside the store and saw Lin Yu stepping into the yard.
"Good morning." Jiang You and Lin Yu greeted each other.
"Good morning, are you up?" Lin Yu walked into the store.
"Wake up, have you had breakfast?"
"I have eaten."
"I lost weight, two kilograms," Jiang You said.
"Really?"
"Just weighed, unpeeled."
As he spoke, Jiang You turned into the kitchen. He saw the electric rice cooker that was keeping warm. When he opened it, there was a pot of porridge inside. He looked around and saw a small bowl and a paper bag on the counter. In the small bowl were green edamame. They were steamed with a little oil and shredded chicken mushrooms, and dotted with red and green peppers. It looked very appetizing.
There were two chive boxes in the paper bag.
He took a carton of milk from the refrigerator, poured it into a cup, and put it in the microwave.
Then Jiang You scooped a bowl of porridge, brought out the side dishes and chive boxes, and placed them on the long table.
With a ding, the milk is hot.
Lin Yu watched Jiang You walk into the kitchen. He heard the sound of the microwave door being opened and closed. Then, he saw Jiang You walked out with empty hands and sat down on the chair opposite him.
"Do you have something to talk to me about?" Jiang You asked.
"Aren't you exercising today?" Lin Yu asked back.
Jiang You's face drooped, and he said, "I 'm not saying anything bad about you, but this is not responsible, this is paranoid. We just returned to Tangjiang yesterday, and our bodies haven't adapted to the new environment yet. Today is still the weekend..."
"I have nothing else to do right now."
Jiang You picked up an edamame and put it in his mouth. It was slightly spicy, but after the spiciness wore off, the bean was fragrant and fresh, and it went well with the porridge. Jiang You directly poured some of it into the porridge, and used chopsticks to stir it. Soon, half a bowl of porridge was finished.
Jiang You picked up the chive box and took a bite. "You can also start your business again, selling drinks or gym memberships. It's all fine. I can't visit you many times a year."
"Didn't you say you wanted to sell postcards?"
"Postcards," Jiang You thought for a moment, "Speaking of which, look at my yard now, it's full of weeds. I'm going to open for business on Monday."
"What do you want me to do?"
"I'm still thinking about whether to build a flower wall. I looked up climbing roses and found that with just one pot of this variety, you can grow a wall. If people outside see the flower wall , they might come in. Once they come in, they will buy."
Jiang You took another bite of the chive box and said, "How about this, today we will pull out the weeds and clean it up thoroughly, and then I will ask the person who designed the yard for me how to build the flower wall."
