Volume 6: Job Change Chapter 6: Strength comes from courage (Part 2)
"Bang !" The temple door was kicked open, and the first foul-axe troll's deep voice shook the walls of the house: "If I catch you, thief, I will tear you into pieces and boil you in the pot!"
At this time, I had already walked up the stairs quickly and came to the second floor of the temple. There were three wooden doors at the entrance of the stairs on the second floor, leading to three different rooms.
There was a noisy sound of footsteps on the stairs. The angry trolls had sensed my presence and were rushing upstairs together.
Without any hesitation, as planned, I immediately pushed open the wooden door and rushed into the room with a north window. It was a simple bedroom with only a broken clothes hanger, an old chair and a double bed with a pink mattress, a few almost transparent women's underwear on the bed, and a portrait of a frivolous woman on the bedside.
Hmm? Shouldn't this be the room of the only monk in the village? I thought these devout believers were all honest and rigid people...
"Dong dong dong..." The sound of the trolls' footsteps climbing the stairs was endless, and it sounded like the fastest one had already reached the second floor.
Without further ado, I immediately put aside all my speculations about the private lives of the temple monks in this village, stepped on the ambiguous double bed by the window, and then suddenly jumped out of the window...
I certainly wouldn't choose to jump out of the window close to the cliff like the dwarf warrior in front of me did - that is not only not a way for me to escape safely, it is simply a shortcut to hell; similarly, I would not choose to jump to the central square of the village, that is also a stupid idea. Until now, the trolls with dirty axes scattered all over the village are still rushing to this two-story dilapidated building. If I jump down now, I will definitely fall into the middle of a large group of trolls eager to kill, waiting for them to mash me into a pulp with their heavy one-handed axes and sturdy wooden sticks.
At the beginning, I chose my own retreat: jumping onto the rock on the west side of the small temple. There was a gap of about an arm's width between this big rock and the window. Although the distance was not very far, looking down from above always made me feel a little guilty.
I wanted to be like a nimble warrior, supporting myself with one hand after a tiger jump, and standing still after a somersault in the air. Unfortunately, my body function was not as heroic as I imagined, and the whole action went wrong from the beginning: the moment I tried to support the ground with my right hand, my elbow joint suddenly softened, and then I lost my balance and slammed on the rock clumsily like a stiff sculpture. I was awkwardly placed on the surface of the rock in the shape of a "big" character. For a moment, I felt as if I was flattened by this slap, and my nose and lips seemed to be squeezed into my face, with no intuition at all. When I finally felt them again, they began to torment me with pain, making my nose always sour and tears hanging from the corners of my eyes.
To be precise, even I myself don't know whether the tears in the corners of my eyes were a natural reaction to my nose hitting the ground, or whether the intense pain made me unable to resist my cowardice.
As soon as I regained my instincts, I immediately crawled forward a few steps, found a suitable foothold on the rock, and looked back cautiously at what was happening in the temple.
What was happening in the room finally made me breathe a sigh of relief.
The Dirty Axe trolls continued to squeeze upstairs one after another, crowding the originally small bedroom tightly. The trolls, who were furious because the tribe's flag was stolen, stared back and forth in the room with red eyes, looking at every corner. If their eyes had temperature, I'm afraid this house would have been burned to ashes by now.
However, none of these dull and stupid guys could have imagined that I would break out of the window at the last moment, and no one even looked out of the window. I looked at these idiots with anger and indignation, and felt that they had brought it upon themselves and deserved to be teased and mocked by me, but I couldn't help but feel a little proud of my own action plan.
Behind the rock, I found a path that led to the mountain road leading out of the village. Although most of the Dirty Axe Trolls were attracted by the stolen flag, there were still three or five checkpoints on the road, and some trolls wandering in the village. But these could not stop me at all. It only took me a few minutes to figure out the pattern of their actions, and I easily got out of their midst and finally left this simple troll camp.
After leaving the deserted Albert Village, I headed straight for Reed City. At the gate of the garrison camp in the city, I once again saw the sturdy female warrior trainer.
"As you wish, lady, I have brought back the flag of the Troll Tribe." I took the flag out of my backpack and held it in front of her with both hands.
I had put a lot of effort and energy into getting this flag, and I even risked my life for it, but the female trainer didn't seem to care at all. She reached out and grabbed the flag, looked at it with a very contemptuous look, rubbed it with her fingers nonchalantly for a few times, and then threw it behind her like trash:
"I thought you couldn't do it, but you're not as stupid as you look..." She probably thought she was praising me, but I wasn't interested in such praise. However, for the sake of my successful job transfer, I suppressed my resentment and waited quietly for her to finish.
Sure enough, she continued soon: "...your performance proves that you have enough courage and wisdom to take on greater responsibilities. Jeffreys Kidd, I accept you as one of the brave warriors. Welcome, strength comes from courage!"
A purple halo rose from under my feet and quickly enveloped me in the center. A strange force followed my nerves and traveled through my body, causing some changes in my body. In just a moment, my attack power and defense power increased by ten points at the same time, my agility also increased by five points, and my vitality and fighting spirit value increased by fifty points each.
But I think the biggest change is not just the improvement in these data, but comes from my heart. I don't know why, the moment I successfully changed my job, I felt a surge of pride and enthusiasm in my heart, something called "courage" filled my heart, and made me feel that my blood was flowing more passionately. I have never felt so energetic and eager to fight as I do now. I just hope that I can rush into the minions of the apocalyptic king and fight them to the death.
"Strength comes from courage!" This is the fighting creed of the warriors. We believe that true strength comes from the most tenacious and proud part of our lives. It is the fearless and strong belief that makes us brave enough to fight and not afraid of strong enemies. Perhaps, at this moment, I was inspired by it and had such a feeling.
In addition to successfully changing my job, the heroic female trainer also gave me a warrior badge and a long sword. The warrior badge is engraved with a shield covered with flowers, and on the shield stands a petrel with its head held high - it is said that this is a brave bird that dares to fight against the stormy waves. Each warrior badge is attached with a magical effect. When we wear it, we can activate the "heart of excitement" every fifteen minutes, which can eliminate all fear, charm, confusion and hallucination effects, allowing us to immediately break free from our inner troubles.
If the warrior's badge is just an auxiliary item that is not used often, then the appearance of this "Brave's Flame Blade" can be regarded as a timely help.
Until now, I still use the "Sabertooth Ripper" that I snatched from the Sabertooth Mountain bandits. Although the power it produced was very exciting at the time, and the accompanying tearing effect was also very practical, it is a low-level weapon after all. Now that I am level 35, its lethality can hardly meet my requirements. I thought about replacing it some time ago, but I haven't found a weapon that suits me, so I have been using it until now.
Compared with the "Sabertooth Ripper", the "Flame Blade of the Brave" is very ordinary in shape, with no exquisite patterns and a not-so-unique shape. The smooth sword body is about three fingers wide, solid and slightly thick, with a delicate and smooth blood groove on each side. The copper hilt is engraved with several circles of varying thicknesses, and feels very secure to hold.
This sword can increase the attack power by 30 points, and can also increase the user's agility by 10 points and health by 30 points. This sword also has some fire magic effects attached to it, and each attack will bring 10 points of additional fire damage and increase the critical hit chance by 10%.
If I had this sword earlier, the battle with the great vampire Marquis Meneval might not have been so difficult.
After getting the badge and the long sword, I spent some more time, under the guidance of the trainer, to improve my ability to use the long sword to the "specialized" level, and learned several new combat skills, "holding", "turning back and slashing" and "blade barrier". Just as I was about to leave, a desperate scream of unwillingness suddenly came from the left rear:
"Let me go, help me, I don't want to change my job..."
