Volume 4: The Sea and the Ship Heading North Chapter 198 Big Liar
Silver light condensed into shape.
A lion with its mane fluttering in the wind and a cold look in his eyes lay beside Jon!
But only half of the silver light floating in the air was consumed, and the other part was quickly transformed into a solid entity, less than a second later than the lion.
A little badger that was jumping in the air, leaving behind little silver threads, landed on Jon's shoulder!
The moment the lion appeared, the Dementors closest to John began to roar in pain. They felt like they were being roasted on a fire. Their robes, which were already tattered, had scraps of cloth constantly falling from the bottom and eventually turned into wisps of black gas!
The one who suffered the most was naturally the Dementors leader, who was eager to suck John dry.
Its withered hand was about to touch the corner of Jon's clothes. The moment the lion and the badger appeared, the tip of its fingers seemed to be on fire, and black gas continued to float away!
The lion slowly stood up from the ground, facing the Dementors who had just rushed into the cellar for a few seconds and were already scrambling to escape, and it ferociously showed its shining silver fangs!
The badger standing on Jon's shoulder jumped down and rode on the lion's head, and then the two animals drove the Dementors out of the cellar together !
Nick had been watching this scene in shock since Jon first summoned the Patronus.
He stared in amazement at Jon, who was also standing there in a daze, stammering and unable to even utter a complete sentence.
"You...you, didn't lie...lied to Fred! And...that's...that's..."
"Two guardian angels?" Jon helped him finish the question.
Even John himself found it incredible. In order to learn the Patronus Charm, he read many related magic books and notes under Lupin's guidance.
From ancient times to the present, there have been many examples of patronuses changing after different experiences, but it is unprecedented for a wizard to summon two patronuses at the same time.
And, what's more, it's a lion and a...badger?
If only one animal appeared, perhaps they would not associate it with anything, but what is the significance of lions and badgers to Hogwarts school? No one knows it better than Nick, who has been the resident ghost for hundreds of years.
Jon naturally knew what this might mean.
There are a total of four animals in Hogwarts, representing the qualities of different colleges. Now that we have bravery and loyalty, can the other two also... ?
After all, if two kinds can be summoned, why can't four kinds be summoned?
Jon didn't think about this question long enough before he forgot where they were.
"Don't think too much about it yet. Come on, Nick, let's talk about it after we get back to the boat."
Nick nodded with a complicated expression and followed Jon out of the cellar.
The corridor outside had become empty, with only the silver light lingering in the air telling what had just happened here.
When approaching the castle gate, the lion and badger that were originally chasing and driving away the Dementors returned to Jon's side lightly.
The two animals, one in front and one behind, with the lion leading in front and the badger following behind, left Azkaban together with Jon and the others.
On the way, Jon tentatively reached out his hand to touch the lion guardian in front of him. The big guy, which was half a person's height, seemed to be able to sense his thoughts. It stopped and let Jon pull its mane.
The patronus was not illusory like a ghost. Jon could actually touch the entity of the lion, but the texture was obviously not like normal hair, and was very different from that of a real lion .
"Why are there two Patronuses? Or the lion and the badger?"
Along the way, Nick kept repeating these two questions, but even Jon himself couldn't give him an answer.
He himself didn't know why he could summon two patronuses, and they happened to be the two symbolic animals of Hogwarts.
But after successfully summoning the Patronus, he finally understood why it was so difficult for him to learn the Patronus Charm.
It's not just his own mentality that has been problematic and has never been resolved. Others only have one, but he has two, and maybe there will be four more. Isn't it reasonable to think that the process will be more difficult and tortuous?
They crossed half of Azkaban Island without stopping, and finally arrived at Hogwarts in the late night.
After canceling the Patronus Charm, Jon did not call on the people on the boat to lower the gangplank. Instead, he used the levitation spell to fly directly to the deck with Nick.
"Let's talk about the rest after everyone wakes up tomorrow. I'm going to loosen the rudder first. We can't stay on this island overnight. The Dementors will probably search the entire island soon and find us. We have to leave immediately."
As Jon was talking to Nick, he walked halfway towards the rudder. Just as he approached the mast and was about to reach the helmsman's position, a subtle but firm voice came to his ears with the sea breeze.
"Expecto Patronus."
Hermione was at the bow in the moonlight.
She waved her wand again and again, chanting spells one by one, but occasionally only a few silver sparks would burst out from the tip of her wand.
Neither Jon nor Nick said anything. They looked at each other. Jon crossed his arms in front of him, half leaning on the mast, just listening to the girl chanting the spell.
"Look, it's the same old problem I told you before. Don't add your own habitual tone at the end of the pronunciation. And when you swing the stick, you have to grasp this position when you lift it up."
He casually pointed out the girl's problem in casting spells.
Hermione froze.
She turned her head and her gaze towards Jon gradually changed from daze to surprise, and finally her body and voice could not stop trembling.
"You didn't lie to Fred..."
Jon spread his hands and blinked innocently.
"Hey, come on, don't think that I've lied to you before, as if I'm a big liar who's addicted to lying."
However, Nick on the side showed no mercy and ruined the show on the spot.
"He is a liar! I can prove it. When I first found him, he wanted me to trick you into leaving by boat! If I hadn't taught him a lesson and made him realize he was wrong, he might have been sucked to death by the Dementors by now!"
"Hey, hey, hey, if you don't speak, no one will think you are dumb, Sir Nicholas. You are a ghost, you should try to reduce your presence as much as possible."
"Bah!"
