Volume 4: The Cataclysm Chapter 74: Demonic Wizard
Crossing the endless rice fields, the cold wind coming from afar seems extremely creepy.
The sky is always dark, and if you choose to look down at the earth, you can see the horrifying scarlet through the black soil.
This is the bloody wasteland.
Marvin, alone, quickly walked out of the edge of the rice field.
He now had a simplest map in his mind, which included the terrain of Isengard and its northeast.
In Eisengard, no one can get something for nothing. As a newcomer, it is naturally impossible for Marvin to get the complete map.
He had to complete his mission at the camp.
In order to save time, after some consideration, he chose a task with a very high degree of difficulty.
The reason why this task is so difficult is that it was posted on the bulletin board two weeks ago, but after two weeks, no one has completed it.
Moreover, most people in the camp were not interested in this mission, even though the price was as high as 30 Blood Essence Stones.
After discussing with the administrator who issued the task, Marvin reached an agreement by adding an Isengard standard novice tool kit in addition to the 30 blood stones.
Generally speaking, new members of the camp will receive some discounts when completing tasks.
Marvin only needs to complete one Novice Patrol mission to receive a complete Novice Kit.
The toolkit includes the following three items: two maps, a large map of the Blood Wasteland and a small map of the area near Isengard; a teleportation scroll that can instantly teleport back to Isengard within 200 miles; and a microscopic cloak that is said to help you conceal your own aura.
The patrol mission for novices is relatively simple, which involves wandering around and patrolling in the heart of Isengard, but it takes a little longer, requiring two weeks.
Marvin was only going to stay in the Bloody Wasteland for a maximum of 12 weeks, so how could he possibly waste two weeks on patrol missions?
So he chose the quickest way.
Although this task does seem a bit difficult.
…
To the north, covering the rice fields of Eisenger, is an undulating mountainous area.
The mountain terrain is rugged, and the sky is filled with a large number of space-time cracks and void whirlpools. If you want to fly over this mountain, there is a high probability that you will be sucked into the cracks and whirlpools and eventually get lost in some corner of the universe.
So the people in the bloody wasteland opened up a path.
The name of this road is [Dead Leaf Corridor].
Judging from the map, the Dead Leaf Corridor connects Isengard and the Black Swan Hill in the north, and is an important channel for Isengard to communicate with the outside world.
However, in recent times, many monsters have appeared in the Dead Leaf Corridor.
These monsters were not formed naturally in the Blood Wasteland.
The natives here are very familiar with the monsters that naturally form in the bloody wasteland - including a large number of shriveled zombies, bloody puppets, ogres and so on.
But this time, among the group of monsters wandering in the Dead Leaf Corridor, there appeared shadows of Abominations and Road Demons.
Initially, a patrol team discovered this abnormal situation while completing their patrol mission. They recorded it and reported it to the camp.
Then it’s time to investigate further.
The camp sent out two of its most powerful scouts to investigate the mastermind behind these monsters - abominations and road demons would not appear out of thin air.
Soon, the answer was revealed.
About one-third of the way from the Dead Leaf Corridor to Black Swan Hill , there is a small canyon.
Originally the canyon was empty, but now an altar has been built out of nowhere in the canyon.
The owner of the altar is called Balkh. This is not a first name, but a surname.
If Marvin remembered correctly, the Tyrannical King of the Abyss was named Balkh. He was one of the most powerful lords in the Abyss.
Even if Balkh, the owner of the altar, is not his son, he has a close relationship with the King of Tyranny.
Otherwise he would not have dared to use Balkh as his surname.
The scouts found out that the road demons and abominations wandering in the Dead Leaf Corridor were all summoned by Balkh from the altar.
He seemed to be experimenting with some mysterious magic.
As a great demon, Balkh possesses unparalleled spell-like abilities; and he himself specializes in abyss witchcraft, and his strength is much higher than that of ordinary legendary wizards.
As we all know, due to their physical constitution, demons find it easier to practice witchcraft than other creatures.
Because the source of chaotic magic comes from the abyss, demons and magic are inherently one and the same.
Both parties also meet the rule of [Chaos and Madness].
It’s just that there is a severe shortage of highly intelligent demons among them. Most of them are used to destruction and solving problems with force, so their intelligence is often of no use.
This results in most demons relying on their own talents to use some spell-like abilities.
There are very few true demon wizards.
And Balkh is one of them.
…
"The camp once sent two top assassins to kill Balkh - one of them is said to be a level 4 ace assassin..."
"But they all failed. This is enough to prove that Balkh is very vigilant. This is normal. In a place like the Blood Wasteland, even a demon wizard would not dare to let his guard down."
"The intelligence shows that Balkh has raised a magic dragon. This magic dragon is invisible and protects him. It can absorb damage for him."
"The reason why the two assassins before failed was because they were blocked by Balkh's magic dragon. And once the assassin's first attack is blocked by the wizard, then the countless instantaneous magic that follows will leave the assassin powerless to fight back."
Marvin walked forward quietly while thinking about countermeasures.
The demon wizard Balkh is not an easy character to deal with. He realized this the moment he took on the mission.
However, Marvin, who is skilled and courageous, still wants to give it a try.
This time, he chose a different approach from other assassins.
The rest of the group crept past quietly, ignoring all the monsters and heading straight for Balkh himself.
But Marvin decided to kill his way through!
He didn't want to let any of these monsters on the Dead Leaf Corridor go.
A staggering shadow appeared ahead.
He was covered in black air, and his hands and feet were shackled with broken shackles.
The shackles themselves are made of magic, and no one knows who put them on.
Hater.
One of Balkh's summons.
Marvin exhaled lightly and silently entered stealth mode.
With light and skillful steps, he moved swiftly and unnoticed from behind, and the abomination was completely unaware of Marvin's presence.
The next second, Marvin glanced at a column on the data panel and instantly activated a skill.
whoosh!
The green blade flashed, and the silent sneak attack quietly began...
