Volume 3 Chapter 17: The Shadow of the Guide
Although it was just a dream, I felt uneasy for no reason after hearing it, and felt that it was not just a dream. Because the girl had not woken up for no reason, and even my magic water did not work, I suspected that she was possessed by a very powerful evil spirit.
I was a little restless. If I didn't go back to check, I would be worried. So I said to Shen Bing, "Let's go back."
"Aren't you afraid of the ghosts outside?" Shen Bing asked in surprise.
"The negative energy has been dispelled. It will take at least some time for the ghost to revive the corpse. We are carrying so many magical weapons, it can't do anything to us." I said.
"But it's dark in the middle of the night, and we don't even know which way we came here. How are we going to get back?"
What she said was a fatal problem. We were blinded when we came here and had no idea which route we took. Now it was pitch dark and our flashlight was running low on battery. If we wanted to get back to the hotel, we would have to rely on luck.
But I was worried that Wang Zijun might be in danger, so I had to go back anyway, confident that my buddy was a good person. I hung the Bagua mirror on Shen Bing's neck with a red string, and attached three Sanqing talismans on her left and right shoulders and throat respectively, so that the ghosts would never dare to get close to her.
I pulled Shen Bing out of the cave, threw out copper coins to form the shape of the Big Dipper, identified the direction, and ran down the slope, running south with one foot deep and one foot shallow. The ghosts didn't appear, so we ran smoothly through a section of the mountain road and found the canyon.
We were both very happy. As long as we walked back along the canyon, we wouldn't have to worry about the road ahead. After all, we had walked back and forth twice, and we wouldn't go wrong even with our eyes closed. In order to prevent ourselves from being bewitched by ghosts again when we entered the canyon, we each put an exorcism talisman on our foreheads to ensure that we would have sharp ears and eyes and would not be disturbed by ghosts. However, the yellow talismans on the foreheads of the two people were fluttering, and they looked like zombies. If they met the hikers who came here to explore, they would probably be scared to death.
There is no need to worry about going the wrong way when entering the canyon. After walking along the canyon road for about 20 minutes, I came to the straight tree again. It happened that the flashlight was out of power, and the eyes were suddenly plunged into darkness. Damn, climbing in the dark requires more luck.
"Ah, what is that?" Shen Bing seemed to be tripped by a stone and stumbled forward. Fortunately, I pulled her and she did not fall to the ground.
I said, "What else could it be? It's just stone, isn't it?" Then I hurried forward.
"No, it's soft, like a person!" Shen Bing said in a trembling voice.
When I heard this, I was a little nervous. Could it be a fellow traveler who was in trouble? I quickly turned back and took out a yellow talisman from my bag. I chanted the Three Samadhi True Fire Mantra, and the talisman caught fire. Suddenly, my eyes were bright. My eyes, which were used to darkness, were dazzled by the light and could hardly open.
"Ah, it's Qu Mo!" Shen Bing shouted as he squatted down and picked up a person lying among the rocks.
It was indeed Qu Mo. Her eyes were tightly closed and her face was extremely pale, without even a hint of blood. She looked like a dead body. I reached out to check her breath. She was still breathing, but when I touched her wrist, it was icy cold. She must have been lying here for a long time. It was a miracle that she didn't freeze to death after being caught in the rain for half the night. This was probably due to the evil spirit in her body!
I took Qu Mo and carried him on my back, and then walked back. Just after taking a few steps, I suddenly heard a "crackling" sound above my head. It was the sound of stones rolling down. I was so scared that my face turned pale, because the yellow talisman had long been extinguished. It was pitch black everywhere and I couldn't see anything. I didn't know where the stones would fall. Fortunately, we both had good luck. Several stones whizzed past our ears and hit us heavily, making a loud noise that shook the ground and made our feet tremble.
Shit, judging from the sound, the stone must be very big. If it hits me, I'm afraid I'll be smashed into a meat pie! I couldn't help but stick out my tongue, my heart pounding, and I secretly felt lucky.
"How could rocks suddenly fall from above? Let's hurry up and leave." Shen Bing said in horror.
I absolutely agreed with her proposal, and said "hmm", holding Qu Mo tightly with one hand behind my back, and running forward with Shen Bing with the other hand. I used magic spells one after another tonight, and just used Samadhi True Fire, and I felt that my physical strength was consumed a little too quickly. After running for a while, I felt short of breath and my legs were weak. I thought to myself, don't let down at this time, if there are more stones falling, I may not be as lucky as before.
I was such a pessimist. I didn't say anything, but I was thinking that it was no use. Stones started falling from above again. We tried to run to the middle of the canyon, but we couldn't see anything. How could we know where the center was? Stones kept falling around us, and the splashing stone chips hit us, which was very painful .
Shen Bing held her head and shouted, "We have to find a place to hide."
I wondered where to hide. When I came here, I had a clear view of the terrain of the canyon. There were steep cliffs on both sides, and there was not even a mouse hole on the rock wall. Even if there was one, could we get in?
At this moment, Qu Mo suddenly moved on my back and asked in a very weak voice, "Is it Master Xi?"
"Are you awake?" Before I could say anything, Shen Bing asked in an excited tone.
"Yes, where are we?" Qu Mo asked.
I gradually felt her body temperature on my arm. I guessed she was recovering slowly. At this moment, the sound of rocks falling on her stopped, so I put her down.
"We are in the canyon. You fainted here when you were running back." I deliberately gave her a hint so that she wouldn't let it slip.
Qu Mo let out an "oh" and his voice sounded particularly painful.
Suddenly , my eyes lit up. Qu Mo had a flashlight in his hand, which was more than twice as big as my small flashlight and provided plenty of light.
We all blocked the sudden light with our hands out of habit. Shen Bing immediately grabbed Qu Mo's hand and raised it upwards, turning the flashlight to the right side of the stone wall. I understood her intention, she wanted to see how rocks could fall from above. I thought it was a ghost thing, how could I see anything.
However, Qu Mo's flashlight was very strong. When it shone on the cliff at the top of the stone wall, I suddenly saw a black shadow. My heart skipped a beat. If it was a ghost, it wouldn't let us see its figure. It should be a person! Is someone going to kill us with stones?
After being dazzled by the light, the black shadow cleverly turned around and hid, and no trace of it could be seen anymore.
"It's a ghost that runs so fast!" Shen Bing thought it was a ghost.
Qu Mo stared at it blankly and murmured, "What a familiar figure."
This sentence was like a stone thrown into the sea of my heart, stirring up waves and reminding me of a person who was very familiar to me, including the one I saw in the hotel this morning. In addition to the taxi driver, there was another person whose back made me feel familiar. This person walked as agilely as a monkey and left a deep impression on me. He was the guide who ran on the small road!
Why the hell did he want to kill us? Why didn't he do it when he entered the mountain, but threw rocks down tonight?
Just as I was thinking, a terrible cry came from the front, interrupting my train of thought. I listened carefully and found it was Wang Zijun's voice. I hurriedly shouted: "Go over and take a look, it seems to be Zijun!"
