Volume 3: A Tombstone Stained with Sin and Blood Chapter 139 Black Magic

John placed the book with the knowledge about the Shadowless Divine Strike directly on Dumbledore's desk, and then he went straight to the point.
"Professor, I got something from that castle."
Dumbledore wiped the half-moon glasses, then put them back on. He took the book that Jon had placed on the table with a serious look and said with a little surprise.
"It is indeed... a remarkable thing..." He raised his head and looked at Jon again, "Where did you get the knowledge for this book?"
Dumbledore was obviously unaware of the matter with the ring.
When Slughorn gave the ring to Jon, he specifically told him not to tell anyone about the existence of this thing, so Jon has always kept this promise.
As for why Dumbledore didn't ask him about this question, it was probably because Slughorn had already patched Jon's wound before leaving the carriage. After all, on the night when the fat walrus stole the Philosopher's Stone, Jon had used that strange levitation spell in front of Dumbledore, but Dumbledore did not ask him about it.
"It's something Professor Slughorn taught me before." Jon chose his words carefully. "When I was in the castle, many books in the restricted section of the castle library suddenly lost their magic one night. Then I got something that sucked the magic out of these books. After that, I just need to collect magic from it, and it can let me see the banned books originally hidden in the restricted section."
Dumbledore pointed thoughtfully at the manuscript of the Sharpshooter in his hand.
"So, this is what you get after you collect enough magic power?"
"Yes, Professor."
"You want to learn it?"
John didn't even have to speak, Dumbledore already saw why he came this time.
This was indeed the main reason why John took the initiative to inform Dumbledore of the existence of the banned book. He wanted to learn powerful black magic including the Shadowless Magic, and he certainly could not hide it from the old man.
And there is no channel to learn these magics in the carriage. Whenever he uses them in the future, it will inevitably involve a series of problems.
So instead of waiting until later to be suspected and resentful, it is better to make things clear at the beginning. Jon doesn't think there is anything wrong with talking about this matter.
Hogwarts and the Order of the Phoenix, led by Dumbledore, have been suppressed to this extent. When fighting against the Death Eaters and Aurors, can they only use spells such as Stunning Spell, Petrifying Spell and Disarming Spell that have no lethal power?
Watching their relatives and friends die one by one under the enemy's curse, no one can suppress the hatred in their heart, just like Lily now.
Dumbledore can ensure that he does not use dark magic, but he has neither the ability nor the reason to restrain others.
Perhaps these rebellious wizards still have enough persistence to not abuse the three unforgivable curses, but they will never restrain themselves from using dark magic such as the Explosive Curse and the Fiery Curse.
Under such circumstances, Dumbledore would have no reason to stop John from studying, and at most he would impose some restrictions on him.
"I must first congratulate you on acquiring such a huge fortune, Jon." Dumbledore said seriously, "The collection of books in Hogwarts Castle is the richest in the entire European wizarding world, and the banned books are all extremely dangerous and powerful magic and knowledge. If you can thoroughly understand these books, I can guarantee that you can become more powerful than anyone else, but..."
His sapphire eyes focused on Jon.
"But the more powerful the power, the easier it is to lose yourself. Knowledge is tempting, but not everyone can afford it. These words may not be very popular, but I have to tell you."
"I won't restrict you from learning the magic in those forbidden books, but you have to grasp the scale yourself and don't lose your eyes for those false, seemingly powerful powers."
Jon was actually a little surprised by Dumbledore's answer. He was obviously quite confident in himself and used verbal reminders instead of actual constraints.
This was probably due to Jon's performance when he was lurking in his second year, which made Dumbledore not too worried about his ideological inclination.
"I'll pay attention, Professor." He nodded and promised, then hesitantly asked, "Can dark magic really affect wizards?"
"As long as it is magic, it will affect the wizard." Dumbledore said calmly, "When we cast spells, various emotions will appear in our minds. These emotions are the source of our control over magic. In most cases, Transfiguration and some common spells such as Levitation, Cleansing, and Petrification are predetermined to make wizards believe in their own situation."
"The reason why black magic is called black magic is because when using this kind of magic, the wizard's emotions must be dark and he or she wants to attack and hurt others. Once using black magic becomes a habit, people with weak wills will be unconsciously affected by the emotions of casting spells, becoming irritable and angry, thinking that they can control and hurt other people's lives at will. The three unforgivable curses are the worst among them. This is why it is illegal to use unforgivable curses on people in peacetime."
"There are now many people in the Order of the Phoenix who use dark magic as their main means of attack, but I have also clearly restricted the rights of some people to use dark magic." Dumbledore said frankly.
"Most of these people are impulsive and can be easily affected by dark magic. Your performance throughout this school year has shown your rationality and calmness, Jon. I believe you can completely control yourself. Horace also assured me of this before he left. He said that you are different from others. Even if your body surrenders to the enemy one day, your will will not betray yourself. I trust him and I trust you, so I will not stop you."
This reassurance from Dumbledore was exactly what Jon needed.
What he lacks most now is the means of attack, and black magic is known for its extremely destructive power. He also believes enough that he can control his own will and will not be easily swayed by emotions.
Just as the conversation was coming to an end, Jon suddenly noticed the name on the envelope of the letter that Dumbledore had placed on his desk. Dumbledore also noticed his gaze and did not put the letter away.
"Adele Roland, you have heard this name before when you were in France. I recently got in touch with her and learned some things about the French magic world."
