Volume 2: Funeral Song of Crows Chapter 53: The End
During the Golden Calendar, a powerful Oathbinder accidentally discovered a lunar realm called "The Scenery of the End" while traveling in the Moon Realm.
This is a realm projected by the fear of the end of the world by the people of this world. Obviously, this is not a powerful moon realm . After all, few people are as afraid of the end of the world as they are of disease and famine. The latter is too far away from the lives of ordinary people.
But this Oathbearer happens to be a God-blood hero who holds the power of judgment and end. He is keenly aware of the potential of this Moon Realm in the future. Perhaps in the future, when a great crisis that is enough to destroy the world occurs in the present world, the End Scene can become the greatest hope for saving the present world.
So he used his authority to merge this area with a fortress, and told his descendants to watch over it from generation to generation, and be alert to the possible end.
This fortress later became the Dusk Fortress, and the descendants of that hero became the earliest Endwatchers.
Dusk Keep is the first stop that players reach in the game.
No matter whether the player's origin is a down-and-out noble, a treacherous knight, or an expelled magic apprentice - no matter what kind of start you choose, the player starts out as a hapless exile, fleeing to the barren Blackwater Swamp in a caravan.
On the way, the caravan was attacked by the Moon Realm monsters. At the critical moment, the protagonist was saved by a strong man who called himself the Chief Judge and the last bloodline of the End Watcher.
When the judge led the protagonist out of the encirclement, he was unfortunately injured by a high-level Moon Realm monster. After escaping, the man held the protagonist with his bloody hand and asked the protagonist to help him deliver a token to a place called Dusk Fortress.
After the protagonist has fought his way through all the obstacles (if he is not discouraged by the swamp spiders and crystal salamanders on the way) and arrived at the Dusk Fortress, the headquarters of the End Watchers, he is mistakenly recognized as the descendant of a hero and the final judge in the prophecy by the only two people left in the fortress because he carries the token of the "Seal of Judgment".
The protagonist is thus shouldered with the heavy responsibility of rebuilding the Endwatch and resolving the End crisis.
Compared to the beginning of the game, William didn't know whether the situation he was facing now had become better or worse.
On the one hand, he is no longer the weakling who could fail even against the swamp spiders, and his character attributes are close to the limits that players can theoretically achieve; but on the other hand, his greatest advantage as a player, the ability to reload the game and start over, is gone, and now no matter what he does, he only has one chance.
Therefore, he should be more cautious in everything he does now.
But the cautious approach is that it is impossible to kill Coles, who is planning to be promoted to the King of Hope and Despair, under the noses of the four Void Kings.
William looked at the coordinate point emitting blue smoke in his hand and sighed slightly:
"Coles..."
Throughout the game, there are more than 200 NPCs with complete settings to choose from and invite to join the Judgment Seat. When choosing the last member, William struggled for a long time, and even kept the vacant spot until the end of the game before he finally made the decision.
Coles Jackdaw became William's final choice.
On the one hand, there are thirteen seats in the Judgment Seat, but only twelve Judgment Arms. William always felt that there must be a reason for the last member not to be equipped with Judgment Arms. Therefore, the Raven Man Coles, whose soul is mixed with the essence of the Moon Realm and cannot be equipped with Judgment Arms, became the best choice.
On the other hand, as the owner of the only entry "The Last Crow Man", choosing him as a member of the final Judgment Seat will undoubtedly better satisfy William's collecting habit.
Coles's character quest chain begins with the Great Purge of the Holy Spirit Church. In order to deal with the infiltration of the Moon Realm into the real world, during the second invasion, the Holy Spirit Church, in the name of holy war, used its remaining influence to launch a witch hunt against Moon Realm believers across the continent.
Countless stakes were erected in front of the church, and a large number of innocent people were framed and persecuted. The resulting chaos and destruction were no less than that caused by the Moon Realm believers.
Shortly thereafter, the truth behind the entire purge was completely exposed by the Judgment Seat - it was a conspiracy carried out by several virtual kings manipulating the church's top brass in the hope of weakening the status of the Holy Spirit faith among the people.
During this witch hunt, the Crowmen, victims of the Moon Curse, were almost completely exterminated, leaving only a young boy who had just inherited the Crowmen Curse. He was rescued by the Judgment Seat who went to Platinum City to expose the church's conspiracy.
After joining the Tribunal, Coles rarely talked about his past. He only vaguely mentioned that the person who passed on the Crow Man Curse to him was an expert in Moon Realm research, and that person dedicated his entire life to studying how to eradicate his Crow Man Curse. The surname Jackdaw was passed down along with the Crow Man Curse.
Looking back now, it seems that Coles was more loyal to William himself than to the Endwatch.
Coles had no interest in running the entire organization. When William was selecting the person in charge of the Black Blade, he originally wanted Coles to take charge. But he rejected the suggestion, saying that he would rather follow William to more dangerous places to hone himself, rather than stay in the rear to command assassins and spies and monitor the corruption of the Moon Realm in the major kingdoms.
In addition, he also inherited the Crow People's interest in studying the Moon Realm.
Although it was William himself who finally carried out the seal, the method to completely seal the uncontrollable part of the Crow Man Curse was researched by Coles himself.
If William had not blocked his departure, in the epilogue at the end of the game, Coles would have simply returned to his hometown, the Storm Kingdom, and been hired as an expert in studying the Moon Realm. He would never have done such a crazy thing as what he did now.
What exactly went wrong?
Did something happen in the past thousand years to change his character? Or was it that my previous view of Coles was wrong, and he was not even loyal to himself, but to power itself?
While waiting, William's mind was full of random thoughts.
At this time, a voice appeared behind him.
"Your Excellency the Judge, I am ready."
Cass, with two swords on his back, stood at the door of the Dusk Hall.
William turned around, looked up and down at the other person's enchanted armor, then shook his head and said:
"No, this armor is too fragile."
Then he looked at the huge sword on the other person's back and continued:
"So is this sword."
Cass looked down at the enchanted armor on his body in confusion.
"But Lord Judge, this is already the best enchanted armor that can be found in the Thorn City equipment warehouse."
After resolving the Holy Tomb crisis, Vincent found a set of holy-level enchanted armor from the treasure house of the former Duke of Thorns and gave it to him to express his apology to Cas.
This is a set of armor that countless magic swordsmen dream of - made of meteorite steel, forged by elf craftsmen with more than 500 years of forging experience, and blessed by the seven holy spirits and enchanted with a lot of magic. Even with Kas' current level of power in the divine realm, this set of armor can still bring him a significant improvement.
You know, this set of armor was originally prepared by Simon for himself.
It can be said that apart from the equipment crowned with the title of artifact in myths and legends, this is theoretically the best equipment a warrior can get on the entire continent.
"Equipment of this level won't last more than five seconds in front of the Void King. Since there's no way to quickly increase your power level, you should at least narrow the gap in equipment a little bit."
William said so.
After he finished speaking, a deep blue magic circle appeared in his hand, and the scene around them instantly turned into a gorgeous starry sky.
This is the treasure hall.
William himself didn't know where this space created by the console was.
The present world? The moon realm? The star realm? The light realm?
While William was thinking about this question, Cass beside him was stunned.
It is hard to say which one shocked William more, what he just said or what he saw now.
But before he could ask anything, dozens of stars in the sky suddenly fell down.
