Volume 2: Boundless Walker Chapter 6 Harest

Late at night, Halester.
In a secret room somewhere, a young man was reading a secret letter in his hand.
He looked calm and his eyes were thoughtful.
After a few minutes, the young man started laughing.
He raised his hand and placed the secret letter on the candle and lit it.
The flames flickered, illuminating the young man's face.
"Goethe Wein."
The young man looked at the burning secret letter and whispered the name.
Then he stood up and left the secret room.
When the first ray of sunlight appeared on the horizon, Goethe, Sheila and Swart finally saw the largest city in the North, 'Harest'. The dark streak on the horizon became deeper and deeper under the sunlight, just like a giant beast crawling on the ground, ready to devour its prey.
"Halest was originally just a small fishing village, but after Archduke Scrooge Kerrigan's ancestor made a fortune in Bear Castle and opened up the entire Sword Coast transportation channel, it gradually became the largest city in the North. However, because of the war with Faber, the original purpose of building Harest was to be a military fortress."
Xila looked at the big city in the distance and couldn't help but feel a little longing.
The magnificent picture slowly unfolded in her mind. She seemed to see the iron cavalry of Archduke Scrooge's ancestor, and the miracle created from nothing. Everything about it made her intoxicated.
Her heart moved slightly.
Immediately, a smile appeared on Xila's face.
Goethe keenly noticed the changes in Silas.
“Is this some kind of ability?”
Goethe guessed.
But Sheila did not hide it.
“It’s the specialness .”
Sheila said directly.
Then she stared at Goethe, hoping that he would be moved.
It would be best if he was moved enough to reveal more secrets of the 'Mad King's Legacy' to her.
Unfortunately, Goethe simply nodded and moved on.
"Hard-hearted bastard!"
"Are you not moved at all?"
"I'm starting to reveal my secrets!"
Sheila was furious, but this lady with multiple identities immediately thought of another point.
"Could it be that Goethe already knew it?"
"Is he testing me?"
"Why else would you have arrived in Halest at sunrise?"
"Teacher has said that although my baptism ceremony is special and most people don't know about it, it needs to be kept extremely secret, but as the guardian of the 'Mad King's Legacy'..."
"Goethe may have seen through the clues, so he is testing me?!"
Thinking of this, Xila was shocked.
Immediately, his eyes changed when he looked at Goethe.
Goethe noticed the wise look in Xila's eyes, but ignored it completely.
Now he just wanted to enter Harest as soon as possible, and then contact the people in the Northern Territory's 'Secret Keeper' branch.
Not only safety, but also information!
He needed to know more about the North.
Only in this way can we determine who his enemy is.
And Swart also wanted to enter Halest.
However, unlike Goethe, the sheriff just wanted to take a hot bath and have a good sleep - a long journey of an afternoon and a night, even if it was a long time with Goethe carrying him, it was already the limit for an ordinary person like Swart.
The reason why I can still move now is entirely due to my willpower.
Goethe, who showed the "Certificate of the Apprentice Secret Keeper", entered the Halest Police Station unimpeded and met the Sheriff Gabriel who was in charge of the extraordinary connection.
This was a young police chief, who looked to be in his early twenties. He was dressed in a clean and tidy police uniform. When he saw Goethe and his party, he smiled warmly.
"Lord Credor has already informed me in advance."
"Mr. Goethe Wein, please follow me."
"I have arranged a hotel for you."
With that, the young sheriff led Goethe and his party out of the police station, and pointed to the hotel not far from the police station: "Anlun's Hookah".
“'Anlun's Hookah' is a nice hotel. The owner is very nice. The room is quiet and the bed is comfortable enough.”
"Most importantly, the three meals provided by his family are worth tasting."
The young sheriff introduced.
"Where is Lord Credor?"
Goethe, who was following behind the other party, asked.
"Something happened in the town near Harest recently - the man-eating 'Wendigo' monster that was supposed to appear only occasionally in winter appeared in the summer for some reason!"
"Lord Credor and other Lords are now hunting these man-eating monsters and investigating why this happened."
"So, in the next one or two weeks, I will be the only one to receive you all."
The young sheriff explained.
When talking about 'Wendigo', Goethe and the other two looked at each other.
"Then isn't Harest defenseless now?"
Swart asked in surprise.
After experiencing Luster's difficulties, the sheriff's understanding of "supernormal" has been raised to a rather cautious level.
"How is that possible?"
"Harest has Lord Scrooge.
"The Grand Duke's guards are more than enough to handle everything, and..."
At this point, the young sheriff lowered his voice.
"On ordinary days, the 'supernormal events' in Halest are basically handled by the Grand Duke's Guards. Lord Kredor and other Lords will only take action when the Grand Duke's Guards are unable to extricate themselves."
"This is also the reason why the Grand Duke and Lord Credor are at odds."
"Rumor has it that when they were young, they were good friends who could talk about anything. When Archduke Scrooge was the head of the Northern Territory's 'Secret Keeper's Branch', Lord Credor was the Archduke's deputy."
"What a shame. Alas."
The young sheriff sighed.
"It's a pity. Then Halest should be safe, right?"
Swart sighed along.
And, inquire about the news without leaving any trace.
Goethe frowned.
Before he came, he had heard about the discord between Archduke Scrooge and Credor - Morey introduced the situation in the North to him in as much detail as possible, but Morey did not mention the Archduke's Guard.
Obviously, this is not something Morey is hiding.
Rather, Morey did not know about the existence of the Grand Duke Guard.
"Scrooge's control over Harlech is stronger than you think!"
Goethe thought.
This kind of control is not a good thing for him.
He needs to investigate who is targeting him.
The people who targeted him were most likely those around the Grand Duke.
He can't just say, sorry, I want to investigate your son or daughter, right?
Moreover, Credor's departure also made Goethe suspicious.
"Could it be that someone arranged this on purpose?"
"Leaving me alone and helpless!"
Goethe walked into 'Anlun's Hookah' with his guess.
The first floor was not like a traditional hotel, but had several dining tables. The smell of breakfast wafting from the kitchen proved that what the young sheriff said was true.
All three meals here are worth tasting.
At least the breakfast was ok!
Immediately, Goethe proposed to finish breakfast before going to the room.
Swart and Sheila did not object.
The young sheriff immediately walked to the bar.
"This guy doesn't look like a sheriff."
After Swart sat down and made sure that no one could hear him, he spoke immediately.
"Is he an imposter?"
Xila's eyes immediately flashed with coldness.
Goethe and Swart both rolled their eyes.
"We met him in the police station. Are all the people in the police station blind?"
"Or do you think that the entire police station is acting in his stead?"
"If he could do that, there would be no need for such a troublesome impersonation. He would have more means to deceive us."
Swart explained helplessly.
"Maybe he has some peculiar hobby?"
Sheila said this.
"Come on, not all men are perverts!"
"I said he doesn't look like a sheriff because he is too young, and the way he does things doesn't look like a sheriff. In the Rooster Police Department, a guy like that would be eaten to the bone."
Swart didn't give Sheila another chance and expressed his feelings.
Immediately, Xila gave him a look of contempt.
No doubt, this lady also knew something about the Rooster Police Department.
"Maybe Halester is much better than Luster!"
"After all, this is the largest city in the North!"
"After all, here is Lord Scrooge!"
Sheila emphasized.
Swart didn't say anything else. He didn't want to talk to a fool. The moment he stepped into the police station, the familiar feeling had already told Swart that the police station here was no different from the one in Luster.
Maybe it will be better.
But the extent of goodness is limited.
Swart glanced at Goethe.
When the sheriff saw that Goethe had a look that showed he knew what was going on, he immediately turned his attention to the food.
Mushroom soup, waffles, fried ham and salad.
The salad is chicken salad with a little bit of lemon, which is very appetizing.
Fried ham is simply fried in oil, which brings out the original flavor of the ham. Although it is a bit salty, the sweetness and softness of the pancakes and the deliciousness of the mushroom soup completely neutralize the saltiness.
Goethe tasted a hint of meat in the mushroom soup in particular.
It is obvious that the soup base is made from bones with meat on them.
"very nice."
Goethe commented.
Swart ate voraciously; he was starving.
After eating a little, Sheila's attention was attracted by a convoy outside the hotel.
Next to a carriage pulled by four pure black war horses, an old butler in a tuxedo stood quietly. A team of twenty people stood upright around the carriage. They had serious faces, uniform clothes, and carried long spears on their backs, guarding their surroundings.
"Which nobleman is this?"
Although there was no noble family crest on the car, Sheila could be sure of the other party's noble identity.
Whether it was the old butler's demeanor or the guards around him, they were not something a so-called businessman could possess.
Especially the guard in the lead, Xila could clearly feel his extraordinaryness.
Without a doubt, a transcendent!
While Sheila was still guessing, the old butler noticed her and immediately gave her a polite smile. When his eyes swept over the food on the table and saw that there was little food left, the old butler, who had been waiting for a long time, walked into the hotel.
When they were still two steps away from the dining table, the old butler said to Goethe respectfully:
"Master Wayne, the master asked me to take you home."
Then, the old butler stood up, looked at the young sheriff, and said in a voice that only the few people present could hear: "And you, Master Gjir."
