Volume 1: Stranger in a Strange Land Chapter 36 Everything

What is magic?
According to the theories of the Takma Order, the founder of the classical magic system, and the Seven Holy Spirit Creation Model constructed by the first generation of Crowned Ones in the Platinum Era, magic is the transformation from unresolved possibilities to certain facts.
The material world of this world is a definite reality, so ore is ore, steel is steel, and a sword is a sword. If you want to turn ore into a sword, you must burn and forge the ore into steel, and then melt and forge the steel into a sword. No step can be missed.
However, for magic casters, they can skip all the steps: a wizard proficient in transmutation can transform ore into a sword, and a powerful illusion wizard can even draw a sword directly from the void.
Because in the eyes of a true magic caster, whether it is ore, steel or sword, these observable substances are just disguises, and their essence is solidified magic power.
Everything is magic. This is the core of the Takma Order's theory and also the cornerstone of modern magic theory. Everything, including the operation of the Star Law, must obey this iron law.
In the vision of the Takma Cult, the original world was a place of only light, and light was endless magic that contained infinite possibilities.
And in a great event called creation , a part of the magic power broke away from the realm of light and sank and solidified, turning into the solid and definite material world of today.
This concept later inspired Protis to propose the model of the creation of the world by the seven holy spirits, and eventually he established the Church of the Holy Spirit to unify the mythological system of the entire Vic continent.
Of course, this is all in the past.
Matter is solidified magic, or it can be said to be the magic of death, so magic casters cannot use it to change reality. At most, they can only use it as a medium.
All that can be used by magic casters are active magic powers from the Realm of Light that have never participated in the creation of the world. They flow into the real world through the Astral Realm, the Moon Realm, and everyone's soul, and then become the driving force for the constant change of the material world. Otherwise, the entire real world would be just a rigid specimen.
Therefore, when magic casters use magic, even if it is only a first-level trick, they are essentially performing a miniature creation.
Like the seven holy spirits of creation, magic casters guide the magic power of the Realm of Light into the real world, and then, through the ideas in their minds, transform the infinite possibilities of magic power into solid reality.
From this perspective, there is not much difference in realm among all magic casters. After all, what they do is to use magic to reshape reality.
But what really divides their levels of power is something much simpler.
The scale and depth of power.
The scale is easy to understand. You can tell at a glance which is stronger, a wizard who can only blow leaves or a wizard who can stir up a storm.
Vincent has seen many people constantly delving into and exploring the scale of magic, and even the current Star Council regards the scale of power as the most important quantitative criterion for rating mages.
But after reaching Vincent's level and status, he gradually realized that the real standard for judging the strength of a magic caster should be the depth of that power.
Real magic should be a miracle, not a tool.
It was easy to light a branch. Even a mortal without magic could make it by drilling wood together. Even burning an entire forest to ashes was no big deal. Even without magic, as long as a spark fell on a dead branch at the right time, anyone could do it.
For the burning of wood is part of the order of the world, and the use of magic merely compresses the preparations for lighting it.
The depth of power means the extent to which magic touches the rules of the world. Ignite the forest does not reflect this. Make steel, stone, or even running water or ice burn, creating miracles that are impossible to happen, which is the manifestation of the depth of power.
To stop time is to touch upon the deepest and most basic rules of the world.
In all creation myths, time is always the first thing to appear.
In other words, the causal concept of "sequence" originates from the emergence of time.
Changing time is a miracle that can only be accomplished by magic casters who have reached the divine realm.
but……
"How is this possible?"
Vincent asked, his tone more reluctance than confusion.
"How is it possible that anyone can still enter the divine realm under the tyranny of the Star Law?"
Now, even if one wants to be promoted to the legendary level, one must obtain the approval of two-thirds of the members of the Star Council, and those places have basically been monopolized by the royal family and other noble families.
This was also an important reason why he followed Duke Simon in seeking the independence of Blackwater Province and was even willing to indulge his colleagues' Moon Realm beliefs.
As long as the laws of the stars still hang over the heads of every magic caster, those who want to be promoted must obtain the astral access rights opened by the Star Council.
Without the authority of the astral passage, one will be like Vincent. Even if one has already crossed the threshold of the legendary level in terms of mental power, he will not be able to obtain enough magic power to support the scale and depth of his power, and will only have the title of the first person under the legend.
If one wants to bypass the laws of the stars to gain enough power, but does not want to kill innocent people and use a large number of souls as fuel for his own magic, then there are only two ways: through the Moon Realm or ritual magic.
The legendary level is like this, not to mention the legendary divine realm.
It is said that because the magic power required by the Divine Realm magic casters is too huge, the magic channels built in the astral world may be burned because they cannot withstand their power. Therefore, there are only a handful of Divine Realm magic casters in the entire empire, and they have to suppress their realm to the legendary level for many years to avoid damaging the laws of the stars.
As a result, this person in front of him, whom he had never seen before, could use magic of the divine level at will?
This was unacceptable to him.
The man spoke.
"Compared to trading with the Void King and using the incomplete King Bandit Ceremony, this power is more reliable, right?"
"Who are you?"
Vincent asked in a deep voice.
The other party's words were filled with disdain for the Moon Realm. Unless this attitude was pretended, his power could not have come from the Moon Realm.
And if magic power is obtained by extracting the souls of mortals, if one wants to use the power of the divine realm, then one must imprison the souls of at least half of the population of Thorn City as a source of magic power.
Therefore, the magic power of this person in front of him can only come from the astral realm.
But he was not restricted by the Star Law. How was this possible? Unless he was a magic chanter who had cultivated to the divine realm before the Star Law was established.
Vincent shook his head in his heart. No mortal could live that long.
"You can call me the Chief Judge. If you agree to my terms, I will be the one who can fulfill your long-cherished wish."
The man said.
The slag that was suspended in the air fell to the ground, making a slight rustling sound.
Vincent asked.
"So what are your conditions? What do you want?"
"What I want is..."
The other person opened his hand and then clenched it tightly.
"everything."
