Volume 1 Jade Chapter 22 Tonight, Hunting the Church

The solemn Red Apple Church.
On the outer wall of the spire building under the night sky, the profile of the angel relief overlaps with the purple moon, revealing a round of enchanting light.
A burst of dense footsteps came from the end of the street.
Two heavily armored guards with red apple logos on their chests led the way, holding torches and heading towards the church.
Behind them followed a long line of dozens of church guards.
Some guards were holding leashes, and the rotten hounds covered in red cloth followed the team obediently.
When they arrived in front of the church, a long line of people filed in and went through the main gate in an orderly manner, leaving only two guards at the door.
Inside the church.
Prayer room.
A young woman was lying on the ground in dishevel, with a deep scratch on her throat and blood all over the ground.
It was obvious that she had been dead for a long time.
The fat figure of Stulton in his monk's robes was standing not far from the body.
He held an exquisite dagger in his hand, with blood dripping from the shiny blade.
"Qianwei, why haven't you responded yet..."
Stulton wiped his sweat with a handkerchief with his other hand, and his little eyes were fixed on a golden goblet on the prayer table.

The cup was filled with blood, and ripples appeared from time to time.
A long time passed.
An old voice came from the goblet:
"Stulton, this is the third time you have called me... I hope you can give me a reason to convince me."
"Your Excellency the Bishop!"
The fat monk was overjoyed and he quickly moved closer to the goblet.
"When will you come to Emerald Town? The extraordinary person who destroyed the Apple Orchard Prison is most likely hiding here now...
As long as you come, that guy will never get away!"
The blood in the cup remained silent for a while. Just when Stulton was a little confused, the old voice came again:
"Will reminded me before. Now it seems that the criminal is most likely a transcendent from the 'History and Ritual Association'. He disguised himself as a sacrifice to sneak into the prison and finally killed our priest Carter..."
"Their purpose is very clear, it's that pot of sunflowers [weird creature]...
The church's top brass has made a simple guess about it, and it is very likely that it is the remains of the saint who caused the collapse of Tourmaline King City more than ten years ago."
"If it weren't for the dual pressure from the Church of the Sun and the shelter, Lord Rafa wouldn't have secretly transferred it to a small town like Emerald Town...
But how did those damned rat people know this news...?"
There was extreme anger suppressed in the old voice, and Stulton wiped the sweat off his face frequently.
He wanted to remind the bishop but didn't dare to, as he didn't want to know the inside story at all.
“Is there a traitor in the church?”
Stulton asked quietly.
The blood in the cup stagnated.
"You are such a pig-brained person, Stulton! Who dares to betray those who believe in the Rose!?"
The old voice cursed, and then seemed to suppress its anger and gradually became calm.
"Forget it, you won't understand even if I tell you...
Now you only need to know one thing: sinners cannot escape, and the church will turn them into fertilizer in the garden."
"After Carter's death, the church's extraordinary combat power in Emerald Town is vacant. You don't have to worry about him for now...
No matter where he flees, he will eventually reunite with his accomplices, carrying the stolen goods with him.”
"The church has now locked down the person behind this operation, so I can't get away for the time being...but their death is approaching."
"Please stay quiet for a while. If there is nothing important, you don't need to call me again."
The old voice faded away, and the blood became calm.
Instead of feeling relieved after hearing the bishop's words, Stulton became even more anxious.
After the priest's death, he has been in a state of extreme insecurity.
"I will stay in the church during this period..."
He let out a long breath, turned around and prepared to leave.
Suddenly, he saw a big black rat on the ground, looking up at him.
"mouse……?"
Stulton was stunned.
The big black rat squeaked and ran away in the blink of an eye.
The fat monk watched the rat run away, and his uneasiness grew stronger.
"How come there are rats all of a sudden ..."
He had heard of some strange and extraordinary powers in the mysterious realm, so just in case, he hurriedly followed the direction the mouse left.
But when he walked out of the prayer room and came to the yard outside, he suddenly saw the bodies of the guards lying on the ground.
Without exception, their necks were twisted 180 degrees, and there were many tiny bite marks on their bodies.
It was a bloody mess, extremely tragic.
"!!"
Stulton was startled and took a few steps back, trembling all over.
"Here...here! That guy is really coming to kill us!"
Why didn't I hear any noise? They've already entered the church!

Stulton immediately ran back to the prayer room and picked up the golden goblet and a crossbow hidden under the prayer table.
Then he returned to the courtyard and ran towards the back door of the church.
He pushed open the iron gate of the courtyard and suddenly heard a shrill dog barking.
Then, the broken body of a rotting hound was thrown to his feet.
It was gasping for breath and was about to die.
When I looked up, I saw a man hidden in a cloak snatching the dagger from a church guard and stabbing him through the body.
The guard screamed and glaring blood spurted out.
thump!
The body fell down and the brimmed hat rolled to the side.
Then Stulton saw several large black rats gather around the cloaked man, and one familiar-looking rat jumped into his palm, squeaking.
It was like she was whispering to him.
The scene was so strange that Stulton felt creepy all over.
Is this man the one who killed the priest and stole the [Weird Item]...
After listening to the little mouse's report, Chen Lun burst into laughter.
It turned out that the nonsense he made up at that time was reported to the Red Apple Church by Will.
It's no wonder that they had the wrong idea. The extraordinary people in the History and Ritual Association who followed the [Earth Faction] path did like to steal things, especially things from other people's graves.
However, what Chen Lun didn't know was that it was because the History and Ritual Association recently dug up the grave of a high-ranking member of the Red Apple Church that they believed in this inference.
Chen Lun bent down and let the mouse go, then turned and looked at Stultton.
The latter suddenly felt a chill down his spine, as if he had fallen into an icy cave.
"Heretic! Die!"
A muffled roar exploded in my ears.
Two heavily-armored guards strode up from behind Chen Lun and smashed down on him on the head with their spears.
Snapped!
Chen Lun turned around, raised his hands, and grabbed the gun handle under the spear head.
The powerful blow suddenly stopped.
The two heavily-armored guards were slightly stunned. They found that the palms of the cloaked man in front of them were covered with dark golden scales.
His sight shifted slightly, and he saw a pair of vertical pupils like a venomous snake under the hood of the cloak.
"die!"
The two of them only heard one plain word.
Next second.
Boom! Boom!
The surging force was accompanied by severe pain, and the two heavily armored guards flew backwards.
Boom!
The heavy body hit the ground, leaving cracks all over the stone road.
Many bricks broke into rubble and flew everywhere.
The breastplate of the heavily armored guard seemed to have been hit by a sledgehammer, leaving a big dent, and the body hidden inside was probably not spared.
Bright red blood slowly flowed out from under their fully enclosed helmets.
