Volume 1 Feathering Chapter 16: Nine-square grid of camps
"Levi, I feel something is not right. Although the reproduction capacity of the Kobolds is not as good as that of the Goblins, their numbers are usually not so small. Moreover, we have fought our way here but have not found any leader or any of their domesticated dogs."
"Is this uncommon? I had a similar situation last time."
Donna shook her head. "Kobolds are lawful evil. Although they are not very smart, they still follow some basic rules when doing things."
"For example, they would send adult kobolds out hunting, leave the old and weak in their dens, and train dogs as helpers and stored food. This situation is indeed abnormal."
Levi nodded slowly: "Is it possible that the conflict between the kobolds and the hobgoblins is the result of competition between them. As they are both lawful evil, it is very likely that they have led to a large-scale war."
According to the game prompts, all the indigenous people in this world can be divided into three types: lawful, chaotic or neutral according to their attitudes towards society and order.
As the names suggest, they are to obey the order, to refuse the order, and to obey the order depending on the circumstances.
According to their moral level, they can be roughly divided into three types: good, neutral, and evil. This is easier to understand and means exactly what the words say.
There are a total of nine combinations, which can basically cover all creatures of all races, and are also called the camp grid.
High elves like Levi are usually lawful good or lawful neutral. They believe that order and organization are very important. They have a sense of honor and compassion, and will take the initiative to fight evil enemies such as demons, dark elves, and ratmen.
The difference is that lawful good pursues true justice, has higher compassion and empathy, and can basically be said to be saints. They will do their best to do good.
It is worth mentioning that all paladins must be of the lawful good camp. Not only can they not do bad things themselves, but even their teammates cannot do bad things. Once they discover it, they must stop it immediately.
If they violate the rules, they will lose their spellcasting ability and become former holy warriors, and must undergo complex and difficult atonement.
Lawful neutral means obeying the laws and orders of superiors, even if some of them do not seem entirely correct. This is also the camp that most humans belong to. Of course, because everyone is selfish, they will also have certain deviations, tending towards good or evil.
The most typical example of lawful evil is the tyrant. He does have rules and uses them to achieve his own evil goals. Speaking of races, the dark elves, undead, drow, as well as the hobgoblins and kobolds that Levi has encountered so far all belong to this category.
The three neutral camps are basically composed of selfish people. They have their own bottom lines and principles. They are willing to take some good or evil actions without endangering themselves or for some kind of benefit.
Another point is that they usually do not have a unified kingdom, but mostly exist in the form of tribes.
Many dwarves, halflings, and the like fall into this category.
Next is the chaotic camp. Chaotic good usually advocates freedom and has its own bottom line. They have their own understanding of good and evil, and usually do not abide by laws and regulations, so they often do bad things with good intentions.
For chaotic neutrals, their freedom always comes first, followed by justice, evil, and others.
It is said that the green-skinned orcs are like this. To them, fighting is the most important thing. Justice or evil are secondary.
Chaotic evil is the real destroyer. They kill and destroy based on instinct, maybe for fun, maybe for no purpose at all. The most typical example is the devil.
In terms of strength, the Order camp is generally more capable of fighting, because once they face a major threat, they will quickly unite and join forces to fight the enemy.
The second is neutral, and the worst is the evil camp. Maybe the enemy hasn't arrived yet, but they have already started fighting among themselves for various reasons.
But it is not completely absolute, just like there are only twelve zodiac signs and constellations, but there are far more than twelve human personalities. Except for absolute destroyers like demons, the camps of many intelligent creatures will continue to shift with their behavior.
Donna nodded. "It is indeed possible. The hobgoblins are a militarized race. They start extremely rigorous training at a very young age, which involves a lot of blood and killing."
"Now we have discovered that there are hobgoblins trying to organize the goblins. It is very likely that they choose kobolds as their training targets and train them through killing."
Levi couldn't help but raise his eyebrows when he heard this. From this point of view, isn't this just an evil version of "Sparta"?
He wanted to confirm some details, but at this moment the halfling thief came running over happily, and he had made a new discovery.
"Sir, in addition to the kobold eggs, there is another creature that seems to be raised by the kobolds as a backup food or mount."
Soon Levi and Donna walked over and saw a tied pig in the corner. Its skin was slightly pale and it had almost no hair, indicating that it was a cub.
But although it was small, probably less than two feet long, it looked quite ferocious. When it saw them coming, it kept lowering its head and making threatening grunts.
Donna recognized the other party's species at a glance: "It's an Anatolian wild boar cub, little thief, it's not suitable to be your mount, it's more suitable to be a war beast."
The halfling thief smiled awkwardly, as if his secrets had been exposed.
Levi couldn't help but smile. It's true that halflings are naturally thin and small, so it's quite suitable for them to use pigs as mounts. It might be quite funny on the battlefield.
Levi took two steps forward and wanted to pull off the pig's head, but then he found that the little guy opened his mouth and bit his palm. Then he understood why Donna said that it was suitable to be a war beast rather than a mount.
Because in its mouth, there were two rows of sharp teeth crisscrossing like those of a shark, and two fangs that had not yet fully developed.
He couldn't help but take two steps back. Although the other party didn't look like it could bite him to death, it would still hurt to get bitten by it, and there was no need for that.
"What should we do? It doesn't look like it wants to be taken back by us."
Sam quickly smiled and said, "Yes, sir, if it is a war beast, we may need a druid or a tamer."
"Or perhaps an Amazon who once learned animal taming." Donna said casually.
Levi immediately looked at Donna with surprise. Since he couldn't see any of her skills yet, he didn't know what she could do except that she was an excellent archer. He didn't expect that she would give him such a surprise.
Donna rubbed her head. "Although I seem to have lost a lot of memories, I vaguely remember that I learned some. However, I was dealing with some large carnivorous lizards that walked upright, so my methods were inevitably a bit rough. If you can bear the risk of losing it, I can give it a try."
A giant carnivorous lizard that walks upright, are you talking about a dinosaur?
Speaking of which, when the races were introduced, Lizardmen and Amazons were both guardian-type, so there didn't seem to be any problem with Amazon training some dinosaurs, after all, dinosaurs and Lizardmen were obviously related.
And now that you put it like that, I seem to be able to guess how you tame the beast...
But taking another look at the piglet who was still making a fuss, he shrugged and said, "Okay, Donna, thank you for your help."
It was just an accident anyway. If it didn't know what was good for it, there would be nothing that could be done about it even if it died in her hands.
"Okay, I'm coming ."
Upon hearing this, Donna pulled out her spear and hit Piggy with it.
Caught off guard, the piglet immediately let out a cry. Although she was obviously holding back, a very obvious red mark quickly appeared on the piglet's skin.
Before it could howl a second time, Donna's spear had already fallen again. Before it could fully react, it had been beaten up badly, and its entire body had visibly gained weight.
But you know what, this trick really works. It barked and grumbled at first, but Donna retaliated by giving it a few hard hits, and it immediately became a little more obedient.
After asking Levi for some food and feeding it, the little pig, which was very ferocious at the beginning, soon became docile. At the same time, a system prompt popped up saying that he had added a new level 0 beast subordinate, a young Anatolian wild boar.
He didn't care too much. The little guy was too weak, and his attributes were even worse than those of the militia. And probably because he had just been beaten up, his health was only a little more than half. He could just be regarded as a mascot.
He just gave Donna a thumbs-up. Maybe this was a way of giving Donna a sweet reward after a good beating?
Although the principle is simple, the fact that it was so smooth shows that Donna does have good skills.
If it were him, he might not be able to grasp the right balance and it is possible that he would kill it before it becomes tamed.
Donna was obviously a little proud. "This is our Amazon method. With the combination of food and the magic of the priests, whether it is a jungle leopard, a saber-toothed tiger, or other dinosaurs, they will all become tame."
It was indeed a dinosaur. He had expected this, so he was not particularly surprised this time. He just asked with great interest, "Are there any particularly wild and difficult to tame ones that still don't work after using these methods?"
"Of course. If that doesn't work, just kill them and get another one."
Donna acted as if it was a matter of course, and it seemed like she had done this kind of thing many times.
Wow, this is Amazon indeed.
Levi sighed in his heart, and at the same time he remembered the very cool big cat he met by the river before. It seemed that it was called Saber-toothed Tiger Laxili, right?
Could Donna tame the big cat if given the chance?
Of course, it’s definitely not now. After all, the tasks in the tavern have already reminded us that the big cat is at least a level 4 elite soldier, and it may also be a ferocious beast.
Although he was still unclear about what this word meant, it was obvious that he was definitely not able to deal with it at this stage!
