Volume 1 Crime and Punishment in Fog City Chapter 5: Chasing
"…I'm curious."
Looking at the endless pouring of hot steam in front of him, which could scald a person into minced meat within a second, Li Lin spoke to the ambusher behind him as if he was chatting.
He didn't feel nervous, because according to years of experience, if the ambusher didn't stab you to death, then he definitely wanted to talk to you. So his own life was undoubtedly protected before answering his questions.
It's really sad that he is so familiar with being assassinated.
Observing the shadow on the brass pipe, Li Lin stretched out his voice and pinched a small mechanism with his fingers, but the sound it made seemed a little confused.
"I have only been in this city for a short while. I am just an ordinary person. Why did you attack me? Do you want money? I do have some money, but -"
"Stop pretending, Li Lin. I know why you're here!"
The attacker's voice sounded deliberately fierce, and although it was clearly a mechanical sound emitted by a vibrator in his larynx, it contained an inexplicable sense of panic.
"Really? Then why do you think I came here?"
With the index and middle fingers of both hands raised, they moved downwards quickly. Li Lin continued to speak slowly:
"I am just an ordinary archaeologist who was invited to attend an archaeological exhibition here. I have no idea why I got into trouble with you. If there is any misunderstanding, I am willing to explain it."
"Shut up! If you are really an archaeologist, you'd better stay still and don't pry into things you shouldn't know. The lower area is not something a small character like you can interfere with. This is just a small warning. You don't want to know what it feels like to have your head cut off, do you? Huh?"
"Ah, thank you very much."
"Thank you? What are you thanking me for?"
"Of course I thank you for your information...idiot."
The figure that was supposed to be subdued began to laugh, and a white electric current suddenly wrapped around the gray cloak. A strange ozone smell gradually filled the air.
not good!
The attacker just thought of dodging , and the soft cape turned into a thorn in the blink of an eye. Countless long thorns almost pierced his palm completely.
This young attacker was undoubtedly a novice. Facing this sudden situation, he not only hesitated, but also had no intention of running away at the first moment. Instead, he shrank back and stretched out his palm again. Compared with the first time, he was a little more cautious. Cooling steam began to spray from both sides of his body, and electric arcs began to swirl around his palms, as if he had opened some mechanism.
But before his hand with the electric arc touched the cloak again, the figure in front of him suddenly became hazy and blurred like fog. The sudden change of light and shadow made him squint his eyes subconsciously, and when he opened his eyes again, a dagger that he was very familiar with was pointed at his eyes.
The brass-colored gas cylinder and the cone-like hollow blade reflected an ominous light under the surrounding steam .
The steam dagger, once stabbed into the body, there is absolutely no reason for anyone to survive.
Looking at the weapon that could kill him in an instant, the ambusher swallowed subconsciously, and a trace of cold sweat appeared on his forehead inside the mask. He felt that something was wrong.
“How come…”
"How is this possible? Country people shouldn't think too much."
There are so many things you don’t know.
The mask on his face kept moving and changing, and the exhaust holes gradually emitted pale white mist to both sides. The generator in his throat transmitted a cold and emotionless mechanical sound.
But watching the mask change, the attacker did not feel reassured by the words, but felt a little scared by the pattern on the mask. The pattern on the mask was gradually deforming, and in a few seconds it became exactly like him. It was like a person looking in a mirror.
"What gives you the confidence that if you attack someone by surprise, they won't resist?"
Looking at the attacker who was trembling as if he was about to say something, Li Lin chuckled and stabbed the dagger into his eye socket.
A shrill scream suddenly rang out from the inside of the alley. But compared to the steam pipes on both sides that had opened valves to release air, the scream was still not as heavy as the roar of the machine.
People walking on the street listened to the faint screams, looked at each other, shook their heads, and continued walking in silence. In this industrial city, there are too many tragedies due to operational errors. But no one would know that a murder was happening in the steam-filled alley.
"Indecisive, unable to distinguish right from wrong, a fool..."
After kicking the attacker who was kneeling on the ground, twitching and screaming, Li Lin pulled up his shoulders and grasped the handle of the dagger that was inserted into his eye socket.
"Also, if you attack someone by surprise, you must kill the enemy cleanly and quickly, otherwise your future will be like this. Didn't your teacher ever tell you this? Oh, maybe you don't have a teacher?"
That's a pity.
Looking at the screaming attacker, Jazz shrugged and pressed the button on the dagger.
With a dull 'bang' sound, the steam dagger that penetrated into the skull quickly sent a whole bottle of air into the brain.
In just a moment, the unknown attacker's head exploded into a pile of heavy fireworks. A strong smell of blood plasma spread around, and then was quickly filtered by the gas mask, leaving only a faint smell of rust.
He is dead.
Li Lin killed someone and gained experience and knowledge.
After stabbing the corpse, which was still twitching due to neurological problems, with a dagger and confirming that the man was completely killed, Li Lin took a deep breath of the air with a slight smell of rust, emptied the emotions in his mind, and gradually extinguished the fire that seemed to be burning from his heart and spreading up.
It's not the right time yet.
Looking at the steam still spraying around him, the calm figure sneered and shook his head. Now is not the time to get excited, there is still a hunt waiting for him.
"Then let me see where you came from..."
Skill detection, skill tracking, start.
In an instant, the world was reduced to black and white. The traces left by the ambushers were clearly visible to the archaeologists.
It definitely wasn't that noble who did it. Because anyone who knew anything about the Black Forest Battle would know that any attack or killing on him would be meaningless.
Because he never used any brainpower to solve that terrible incident. He simply locked the door to the outside with a gun and a sword, and then killed all the monsters inside without leaving a single one alive. That terrifyingly high basic quality was brought about by pure killing, and had nothing to do with anything else.
"Lower Town..."
You are quite well-informed.
Looking at the almost unconcealed traces of the attacker, Li Lin smiled slightly.
After searching the body, the archaeologist pulled out a brand new steam dagger and played with it. After throwing the body into the hot steam, he walked down the copper pipe along which the attacker came.
