Volume 1 Chapter 4 Elf Education
Lily was surprised by John's maturity and intelligence, which were different from his peers, but that was all.
Even though mature children at a young age were rare, she had seen them before. For example, the child from the Longbottom family who lost his mother when he was young had always behaved much more sensible than other children of the same age.
Jon's explanation made Lily let go of the only bit of her guard against him, and then as she had promised before, she could now answer Jon's questions.
"That man named Barty Crouch... is he really a professor at the magic school?"
Even though the situation was safe for the time being, Jon still felt unbelievable about what happened today.
Traveling to a magical world that only exists in fantasy is indeed shocking, but it is not to the point where Jon cannot accept it.
However, judging from what happened today, this might be the magical world in the novel, but it is definitely more than just that simple.
According to the plot he was familiar with, the Lily Potter in front of him had died with her husband 10 years ago, and her son Harry Potter would survive the biggest villain in the story - Voldemort, and then become the only hope of the entire wizarding world to defeat this dark devil.
The wizard who found him first, Barty Crouch Jr., was a diehard fan of Voldemort, the kind of fan who was willing to kill his mother and father for Voldemort.
In the fourth part of the original novel, he disguised himself as the professor of Defense Against the Dark Arts at that time and conspired for Voldemort's resurrection in Hogwarts. Although he succeeded in the end, he was caught by the Ministry of Magic and his soul was sucked away by Dementors.
Before this, he had been imprisoned at home using the Imperius Curse by his father, who was also named Barty Crouch. How did he become a professor of Charms at Hogwarts now?
Would Dumbledore recruit such a former Death Eater and nominally dead man as a professor at Hogwarts?
Or is it that Dumbledore is no longer the headmaster of Hogwarts now?
Jon had a lot of questions in his mind. Although the conversation between Lily and Crouch just now was brief, it revealed a lot of things.
Wanted criminals, the real Hogwarts, an imposter terrorist organization, exile...
Jon didn't forget any of these impressive words.
The magical world was definitely still the same magical world, but there must have been some major changes in it that he didn't understand.
For example, if the Lily in front of him was really the one he knew...
What about Harry Potter?
Of course, John couldn't just ask directly, "Do you have a son named Harry?" He could only try to find out the current situation in the wizarding world indirectly.
When Lily heard Jon's question, her face turned a little gloomy, just like the sea at night, seemingly calm, but actually containing huge waves that might erupt at any time.
"If we go by the current official announcement from the Ministry of Magic, ninety percent of what he told you is true."
"He is indeed the professor of Charms at Hogwarts. He found you to enroll you. The letter he asked you to sign is the real admission letter to the magic school. But he is a kind professor and friendly classmates, haha..."
Her green eyes met Jon's, and the gloom and anger in her eyes seemed to be overflowing from her eye sockets.
“Do you know anything about medieval slave owners?”
Her behavior made Jon feel inexplicably nervous. He swallowed and nodded slightly.
"For that school, students like you who come from a Muggle society and whose parents are all Muggles are slaves that they want to train. For pure-blood students, it is indeed a school, but for Muggle students, it is a training ground!"
"The so-called Muggles are ordinary people in the ordinary world who don't know about magic and have no way to use magic."
"That admission notice written in ancient runes only requires Muggle students to sign. Because that notice has another name - 'Elf Education Contract'!"
Jon's pupils shrank slightly and his heart was shocked.
In the world of Harry Potter, the word elf does not mean a beautiful and noble species.
House-elves are magical creatures that are tamed as slaves by wizards. Their values since birth are to be proud of serving wizards unconditionally. They are completely controlled by wizards in terms of spirit and world outlook!
Lily's voice was cold, as cold as an iceberg that had not melted for thousands of years.
"You may not understand what elf education means, but once you sign this contract, you will be restricted by Hogwarts in all aspects. After entering the school, you will receive slave education and will not even have the right to obtain a wand. You will never be recognized as a wizard. The only official title is one word - 'Mudblood'!"
Jon was silent.
He never imagined that the world had changed to this extent.
In the original book, although discrimination based on bloodline is a social problem in the wizarding world, it would never reach the point where the classes are completely separated and wizards of Muggle origin are no longer considered human .
For such a situation to happen, and for a former Death Eater like Barty Jr. to become a professor at a magic school, there could only be one possibility...
The dark lord Voldemort, who in the original book could only be regarded as a terrorist at best, completely controlled the power of the wizarding world and allowed himself to rule and control the entire island of Great Britain!
But does that madman, whose only thought is about killing people by eating big melons, really have the ability to do so?
What is Dumbledore doing?
He just watched the wizarding world change?
With only this little information at hand, Jon couldn't figure out what kind of changes had occurred to turn the once peaceful magical world into what it is today.
Jon raised his head and looked at Lily again.
"Then Mrs. Potter, you..."
"You can call me Professor Potter."
Lily had a blank expression on her face, and it was impossible to tell how her mood changed after she heard the title of Madam.
After a small attempt that yielded no results, Jon took a deep breath.
"Okay, Professor Potter, just now when we were in the orphanage, I remember you told me that you would take me to the real Hogwarts? That's also a magic school?"
"That's right. I'm going to take you to the only magic school in Britain. The castle now is not qualified to be called a school at all."
Lily frowned and corrected Jon's mistake in his words, then continued.
"Seven years ago, the wizarding world had not become what it is today. Hogwarts Headmaster Albus Dumbledore was unable to resist that man's oppression of the wizarding world, but he led us and never stopped resisting."
"The real Hogwarts has never been confined to the ancient castle. While we are constantly fighting to overthrow oppression and regain the equal status of Muggle wizards, we have never given up on providing the next generation of young wizards with a correct and fair education. So even if we leave that castle, the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, which has been passed down for nearly a thousand years, has never disappeared, and I am the professor of Potions who is responsible for accepting you into school."
After Lily finished speaking, the cabin fell into silence.
The flickering fire reflected on Jon's seemingly calm face.
After figuring out the current dark situation, he sighed helplessly in his heart and drank the hot chocolate in the cup that had become slightly cool and sticky in one gulp.
