The Real Hogwarts Chapter 93: The Headmaster's Office in the Castle
“Plop!”
The basilisk hit the ceiling behind Jon again. Jon could predict every step of its movement in advance, and its ability to fly made it as slippery as a loach.
At the same time, he did not stop his hands and continued to cast spells on the basilisk.
"You have no eyes! You have no eyes! You have no eyes! ..."
The eye disease spells came one after another, each one landing on the basilisk. The pain caused by the spell to the eyes, along with the second rooster crowing, had already caused irreversible damage to the basilisk!
Blood began to ooze out of its earthy brown eyes, its fangs were stained with blood, and its body had begun to swell. Parts of its emerald green scales kept bulging, and then denting again. Just looking at it made people feel scared.
After two failed attacks, the basilisk gave up on pursuing John and prepared to run away!
Although Voldemort's order was to stay in the hallway, the longer a creature lives, the more it values its life. This basilisk originally created by Salazar Slytherin is no exception.
Of course it would obey its master's orders, otherwise it would not have stayed loyally in this castle for nearly a thousand years. But under the instinctive fear of the rooster's crowing, it has tried its best. Now that the attempt has failed, it must escape!
The direction to choose to escape is naturally the door that Jon came in through!
And the moment it showed signs of escaping, Jon felt that the gravel near the door was being squeezed by the basilisk's body. He knew very well that now was the critical moment.
No matter what, he couldn't let the basilisk escape. Otherwise, once it attracted the attention of the teachers and students who were having a Christmas dinner in the auditorium on the first floor and they knew someone had broken into the principal's office, Voldemort would most likely come back in person!
So at the first moment, Jon pointed his wand at the hallway and chanted a Transfiguration spell, which was the one Aberforth had taught him and the one he had practiced the longest in the Room of Requirement.
There was no beam of spell light appearing, but the large area of ground in front of the door turned into a muddy swamp . The basilisk happened to have just twisted its huge body to escape here, and the next moment it was trapped in the swamp!
No matter how talented John was, he had only learned this spell for less than two months. The fact that it was able to produce an effect was already amazing enough, but there was no way to completely trap the basilisk. Its body was not sunk very deep, and it could rush out of the mud with a little struggle.
But before it could take the next step, Jon had already waved his wand again.
"Freeze all!"
This was a freezing spell, and the spell hit the basilisk's body accurately!
The thick snake skin had a strong magic immunity effect, but the spell still had some effect on the basilisk, causing its body, which was struggling to escape, to pause for about a second. During this second, it slowly dived some distance in the swamp!
Seizing this opportunity, John gently raised the magic wand in his hand, and the transformation of the swamp was instantly lifted, turning it back into solid ground. However, part of the basilisk's body that had been deeply sunk into the ground was solidified, trapping it in place due to greater resistance!
It struggled desperately, trying to rush out of the gate and escape from this land of death before the next rooster crowed. The huge force caused cracks in the ground that trapped it, but just before it was about to break free.
In Jon's arms, the third cockcrow sounded like the evening bell of death, determining the end of the basilisk!
“Oooooh!”
The basilisk's skin was all swollen, it had gone completely crazy, and at this moment, it broke free from the ground and stopped running. Its entire body was twitching as it rushed around the hallway!
This irregular movement made Jon, who was floating in the air, unable to dodge and was swept by its body. The huge force slammed him into the wall beside him, making his chest feel stuffy.
The basilisk itself rushed in , and crashed directly into the door leading to the principal's office that it was guarding. Finally, its swollen skin began to dent like a deflated ball, and the smelly blood sprayed everywhere like a fountain!
It roared and wailed unwillingly, but none of these could change its fate, and its body still fell powerlessly into a pool of blood!
Jon panted rapidly and got up from the ground. He looked a little disheveled now, his body was covered with sand and dust, and his face was too pale, but at least it was not serious enough to affect his consciousness.
After hearing that there was no movement around him, he did not rashly take off the black cloth covering his eyes. Instead, he waved his wand again and used a levitation spell on the sand scattered on the ground.
The gravel floated up out of thin air and quickly found the exact location of the basilisk, and then identified various parts of its body.
Then Jon pulled up the cloth strip and looked in the direction of the snake's tail. The basilisk was lying on the ground motionless. Under its body was a pool of smelly blood that had gathered into a small pond, and bubbles like magma were constantly .
The basilisk's skin was burst by its own blood, and it was truly deader than dead.
After confirming this, Jon finally breathed a sigh of relief. He first used a petrification spell on the rooster that fell to the ground and wanted to continue crowing, and then put it into a cloth bag cast with a traceless stretch spell.
This chicken has made great contributions, so Jon certainly wouldn't do such a thing as to kill it after it has served its purpose.
Then, he carefully checked the door at the entrance of the hall, and after making sure that it was still closed, he stepped into the principal's office that had been knocked open by the basilisk.
The furnishings here were surprisingly simple. There were no decorations or portraits on the surrounding walls, not even a bookshelf or wooden cabinet. There was only a desk and chair in the center of the principal's office.
The huge body of the basilisk blocked part of Jon's vision. He could only take two steps forward to see what was on the table.
And just when he saw the entire desk, the pupils in his eyes suddenly contracted!
He was very familiar with everything on the table. Although this was the first time he saw it with his own eyes after coming to this world, he had already seen the description of it countless times in the original book.
It was a sword, a crown, a locket, and a golden cup!
