The Real Hogwarts Chapter 92: Snake and Jon in the Hall
Christmas carols were being sung in the auditorium.
The singing was not loud, but you could tell that every student who was singing was very happy.
The professors who are not qualified to attend the Christmas dinner hosted by Voldemort are basically marginal figures, and their personalities are not extreme, so if they stay to celebrate the holiday with the students, no student will feel depressed or uncomfortable.
John, wearing an invisibility cloak, did not stay on the first floor for long. He held the opened Marauder's Map in his hand. After he made sure that there was no one above the first floor in the entire castle in front of the stairs, he let go and quickly came to the door of the principal's office on the eighth floor.
He put away the invisibility cloak. Although wearing it might help a little in the beginning, it would also most likely damage the cloak.
Jon did not forget that this cloak was not his, but the only hope of another witch who had given up hope . Moreover, as long as the crowing of a rooster exposed his position, the invisibility cloak would not be of much use.
He put away the invisibility cloak, drew out his wand, and hid Fawkes' feather on the inside of his sleeve to ensure that he could grab the feather at the first moment if anything unexpected happened. Then Jon took out a black cloth strip from his pocket.
After temporarily tying the black cloth on his forehead, he took out the pendant with a ring and put it on his neck. Then he pulled off the two buttons sewn on his cuffs and removed the transformation spell on the brown button first.
A half-full cloth bag appeared in front of him. Jon bit the wand in his mouth, lifted the bag with one hand, and then used the other hand to pull the cloth on his forehead down to cover his eyes.
Finally, he took a deep breath and pushed open the door of the principal's office in front of him without hesitation!
In front of him was a wide foyer . A giant snake that was more than twenty feet long was coiled in the center of the foyer!
When Jon came in, the basilisk was resting with its eyes closed. It had lived for nearly a thousand years and actually spent most of its life sleeping. Although it was a magical creature born by a rooster, its sleep time would also be extended when the temperature turned cold in winter.
But the moment Jon opened the door, it opened its earth-brown eyes alertly!
Its current owner placed it here, which was a death order for it. Anyone who dared to break into this door, no matter who they were, would die!
In these seven years, it has eaten three students and a professor who strayed into the principal's office, but not only did no one blame it, but its owner also gave it the highest reward.
It will never forget the deliciousness of human flesh, and after so long, today another "delicacy" has finally been delivered to its door.
The first thing it did was look for John's eyes, wanting to kill this weak life instantly through the magic of instant death, just like the previous four murders.
But Jon, who was blindfolded, was of course not affected at all. After entering the room, he did not immediately undo the transformation spell of the black button, but first poured all the contents of the cloth bag onto the ground.
It was a pile of sand. The gravel was very fine and dry. After he poured it out, it scattered all over the place.
Then Jon unbuttoned the transformation spell on the black button, and a colorful rooster appeared in his arms!
“Oooooh!”
The next second after the rooster appeared, it opened its throat impatiently and made a pleasant crowing sound, just as Aberforth said!
The sound of roosters crowing echoed in the hallway, and at the moment the sound was heard, the basilisk suddenly rolled on the ground in pain as if it was doused with boiling oil!
The crowing of a rooster is the most terrible poison in the world to it . The sound of the creature that gave birth to it is enough to cause it truly fatal harm.
But the basilisk is not so fragile that it will die immediately after hearing the crowing sound. Otherwise, it would not have always been listed as a magical creature of level xxxxx by the Ministry of Magic, on par with the phoenix and fire dragon, and be given the title of Snake King.
It endured the severe pain and fear that came from the depths of its soul. Its brown eyes stared at Jon ferociously. It opened its bloody mouth, revealing two fangs that flashed with cold light. Its body was first compressed like a spring, and then it rushed towards him at an incredible speed!
The moment Jon untied the rooster transfiguration spell, he grabbed the wand in his mouth. Instead of swinging the wand, he used the ring to cast a spell that was so familiar that it couldn't be more familiar.
"Wingardium Leviosa!"
The feeling of weightlessness instantly enveloped his whole body, making him float in the air!
The next second, the basilisk's head hit the ground where Jon had just stood, and the scattered sand and gravel were scattered everywhere.
John, who was flying in the air, did not stop his actions. He waved the magic wand in his hand without hesitation and recited the same spell again!
"Wingardium Leviosa!"
This time, the object of the levitation spell cast by the magic wand was not anything else, but the gravel that was scattered on the ground!
Under the influence of the spell, thousands of tiny grains of sand floated up like Jon, and in mid-air they were like stars in the vast universe, slowly moving in a state of weightlessness. But when they encountered obstacles, they could give the most intuitive feedback to Jon who released the magic.
This was enough for him to sense every movement of the basilisk in the hallway even if he lost his eyesight!
Of course, the basilisk could not imagine the purpose of all the annoying gravel around it. It felt as if its brain was about to explode, and the only thought it wanted was to eat the flying human and the chicken in his arms immediately!
Soon it put this idea into action. The emerald green scales that reflected the faint light slid quickly. It once again targeted Jon who was floating in the air and rushed out again. This time it did not open its mouth, but wrapped its long body like a bucket around it, trying to trap Jon in a larger space and then eat him without any risk!
However, every movement of its huge body squeezed the space where the gravel floating around it was floating. Jon could easily determine the position of the basilisk and what it was going to do next by the direction in which the gravel was moved.
After coming up with this method, he practiced it countless times with Aberforth in the Hog's Head Inn, and was able to make extremely accurate judgments about the information conveyed by the movement of sand!
So, when the second cockcrow sounded and the basilisk launched its second sprint, Jon also prepared for a second dodge in advance.
