The Real Hogwarts Chapter 102 Gems in the Book
When Professor Adrian Fawkes came to Hogwarts to teach, his research on rings and gems had already reached the final stage.
The gem made at Hogwarts is the last of the five.
People always like to save their most precious things for last, and Adrian is no exception. When making this last gem, he did not follow the usual techniques, but wanted to add some different characteristics to the stone.
[The ring and the stone are a transit station for casting spells. The wizard's own magic power is absorbed into the ring, and then fed back to the wizard himself as a fact of change. So why, when creating this kind of spellcasting equipment, must the idea be limited to the magic power of the person using the equipment? ]
[Compared to the core of the magic wand, this magic gem I created has a stronger capacity for magic. Why not try to accommodate other magic as a power for the wizard using the ring to strengthen his spellcasting? ]
[The magic of the ring acts on the wizard himself, and the enemy's spell also acts on the wizard himself, so is it possible to erase the effects of the enemy's spell and only collect the magic power in it and then store it in the gem? ]
This was the question Adrian asked himself in his notes, and it was also his original intention on what kind of features he planned to add to the last magic gem he made.
There is a huge collection of books in Hogwarts Castle, and the knowledge contained in them provides him with enough magical theories to support his own ideas. The Forbidden Forest is also rich in resources of various herbs and magical animals, providing him with the raw materials to transform the gems.
The reason why he was injured at the end of his tenure as a professor of defense was also because he was trying to collect materials for gem transformation. He went deep into the forbidden forest to obtain some debris from the unicorn's horn. As a result, when he was scraping it, he was resisted by the unicorn and his stomach was stabbed.
Fortunately, he was discovered in time by students and sent to St. Mungo's for treatment. He finally returned to school during the final exams, but he was left with sequelae and could no longer continue teaching in the castle.
However, after paying such a price, his research was finally successful, and for some unknown reason, the gem that was endowed with the ability to absorb and store magic was eventually left by him in Hogwarts Castle.
The storage location is in the library.
When he saw this, Jon seemed to suddenly think of something and was stunned.
Before Christmas, when he was practicing various spells against the basilisk in the Room of Requirement, he overheard one midnight that a major event had occurred in Hogwarts.
The magic powers attached to the books in the forbidden section of the library all disappeared inexplicably!
In the end, all the professors in the castle investigated for more than half a month, and even invited people from the Department of Mysteries of the Ministry of Magic to investigate, but they still couldn't get to the bottom of the matter, so the matter was left unresolved.
Then...could this matter be related to the gem that Adrian hid in the library?
If there is a connection, why did nothing happen for more than ten years when it was hidden, but why did it consume the magic power in the banned book now?
Jon couldn't figure out the problem for the time being, but he keenly realized that the gem hidden in the library might be the key to solving the three portraits in the tower!
Since it can absorb all the magic power from the banned books in the library, why can't it also absorb the magic power from the magic portraits?
After realizing this , Jon could no longer sit still in the dormitory.
Originally, he was still racking his brains over how to deal with the issue of the three paintings. Now the key to solving the problem was exactly what he had been looking for. Jon did not wait any longer. He put on his invisibility cloak again and left the basement dormitory.
The Hogwarts library is in a separate tower, and it is Quirrell who is in charge of managing this area. He did not receive much punishment for the last banned book incident. After all, it was not really his fault. If it had not been for the scheduled inventory, he would not even be qualified to enter the banned book area.
There were no protective measures at the library's gate, not to mention that all the remaining banned books inside had been moved away, leaving only some books that students usually read, so there was no need for protection.
The locked door was easily opened by Jon using the unlocking spell. After entering the door, what came into view was a long row of neatly arranged desks. Next to the desks stood bookshelves filled with various books.
Jon did not stay here. He turned around, closed the door of the library, and walked inside. Soon he came to a separate cordoned-off area.
This area was also filled with bookshelves, but there was not a single book on the shelves. This was obviously the previous forbidden book area, but now students were allowed to enter and exit freely, after all, there was no longer a single book in it.
Jon directly crossed the line. Although all the banned books had been moved away, the gem left by Adrian must still be in this library.
Otherwise, the professors in the castle would have ended up with nothing and no way to give Voldemort an explanation.
Besides, the place where the gem was stored was very hidden. If Jon didn't know the location from the notes, he couldn't guarantee that he could find it in the less than half a year left .
Jon walked in until he came to the third row of bookshelves from the back, then started counting the partitions from left to right at the fourth row, and stopped only when he counted to the seventh partition.
He drew out his wand, and without chanting any spells, he simply tapped the vertical surface of the partition with the tip of his wand. A hole magically opened up, and a thick book was hidden in the partition.
Jon pulled the book out of the partition. He did not take the book back to the dormitory. The library was very large and far away from the living areas of students and professors. If something unexpected happened when he opened the book, it would be much easier to solve than taking it back to the dormitory.
The book had no title. When he opened it, he saw a message left by Professor Fox on the title page.
[I am willing to accept the loss. Because of the bet with Horace, I left this research result in Hogwarts. Now that you have opened it, no matter who you are, I hope you will not use my results for dark magic research. ]
He looked at the message carefully for three or four seconds before scrolling down.
The next ten pages contained a detailed introduction to the gem. When Jon turned to the middle part of the book, he discovered that the pages at the back were completely glued shut.
And in the middle of these glued pages is a diamond-shaped, deep red gem!
