Part 5

Pipi just regretted it.

He regretted eating that little bean; otherwise, he would still be that free frog.

There was some movement at his feet, and Pipi looked up.

It was the woman.

The young woman had been sleeping on the edge of the bed, and now she woke up and raised her head, meeting Pipi's gaze.

The woman's eyes widened.

"Can you sit up?" the woman asked.

Pipi didn't understand what she was saying, of course; he just hated her yelling.

As expected, the woman attracted a large crowd, who gathered around Pipi and made a fuss.

The most surprised person was the doctor.

"That's impossible. He has so many fractures all over his body, he shouldn't be able to sit up," he said.

"But he's sitting right now," the woman said.

"This is really strange. I need to take another full-body X-ray to see what's going on," the doctor said.

The IV drip had just finished, and the nurse came to change the dressing.

Pipi stared blankly at the nurse's hands, completely mesmerized.

How could human hands be so nimble, capable of such delicate movements?

Pipi couldn't help but look at his own hands, wrapped in thick bandages, unable to make out anything. But he wished his hands could be as nimble as a human's, so he might not starve to death. Even if his tongue wasn't as strong as it used to be, he could still get food with his hands.

He hoped so.

After taking another full-body X-ray of Pipi, the doctor was even more astonished.

Pipi had suffered multiple fractures, but in just over a day, they were all healed. Truly healed, completely healthy again, with not even a trace of injury.

"How could this be? How could this be?" the doctor kept muttering.

The woman who had discovered Pipi was also amazed.

"Are children's bones naturally healed quickly?" she asked.

The doctor glared at the woman.

"It can't be this fast. In less than two days, all the injuries have healed. How is that possible?" the doctor said.

"Did you use any special medicine?" the doctor thought carefully.

"No, it was just standard treatment," he said.

"Then what's going on?" the doctor shook his head.

"I don't know what's going on. I have no idea," he said. "Anyway, this child is very strange. Very strange."

The woman was unhappy.

She had saved Pipi and had been caring for him in the hospital for two days. She didn't want to hear anything negative about him.

"Nothing strange. Maybe this child has a good constitution," the woman said.

The doctor glared at her again.

"No matter how good his constitution was, he couldn't recover so quickly. It's unheard of," the doctor said.

"It's not surprising. This child must have been blessed. Alas, I don't know what he's suffered in the past. How could he be so seriously injured and floating on the river? If we hadn't found him, he would have died," the woman said. Thinking of Pipi, her maternal instincts surged.

The doctor said nothing.

He felt the woman just missed the point. The key question was, how could this child heal so quickly? If they could figure it out, it would be a groundbreaking achievement.

The doctor began to sort through Pipi's medical records, intending to study them carefully.

"You can take the bandages off," the doctor said. The woman objected.

"Is it still possible?" the woman said.

The doctor glared again.

"It's all healed, so why do we need bandages?" the doctor said.

"Is it really all healed?" the woman said, still a little worried.

"Of course, the X-rays don't lie. Once the bandages are off, the child will be able to jump and run again," the doctor said.

But after the bandages were off, Pipi couldn't jump or run.

He couldn't even stand.

"What's going on?" the woman asked the doctor.

The doctor was also puzzled.

"That shouldn't be the case. There's nothing wrong with him. His bones, muscles, and brain are all right. How could he not be able to stand?" the doctor said.

The doctor didn't understand that although Pipi had no problems, he hadn't learned to stand. His nervous system didn't yet understand how to do it.

But Pipi was very hardworking.

In the recovery room, he tried to stand up slowly, holding onto the equipment. Even this movement was beyond his ability. He had all the strength in his body, but he didn't know how to use it. The moment he stood up, he collapsed again.

Pipi practiced again and again.

Even the woman, feeling sorry for him, begged Pipi to rest, but he ignored her.

After practicing for an entire afternoon, he was finally able to stand for a while, holding onto the railing.

Pipi was overjoyed.

The woman congratulated him, but when Pipi looked at the mirror in the recovery room, he was stunned .

In the mirror, the clumsy child grinned unconsciously .

It was the first time Pipi had ever smiled.

It was an amazing feeling.

Back when he was a strong frog, he'd often felt cheerful, but he'd never grinned like this, never laughed so happily.
