Part 3

Suddenly, these two words flooded into Cheng Laoben's mind.

Having been bullied all his life, Cheng Laoben felt that he should do something.

He couldn't just keep being bullied like this.

That bad guy had done such evil things for so long, it was only natural that he should get some retribution.

Once this idea took hold of Cheng Laoben, Cheng Laoben couldn't get rid of it, he became passionate and couldn't control himself.

Yes, that guy should get retribution.

Cheng Laoben was working in a mine far away from his hometown, and that guy took advantage of the situation and deceived Cheng Laoben for so many years. Such a bad guy deserved retribution, he deserved a terrible retribution.

So, how should he be punished?

Cheng Laoben designed various plans, but he rejected them all.

Either the retribution was too light and couldn't satisfy Cheng Laoben's anger, or it was beyond Cheng Laoben's ability and he might not be able to do it. Cheng Laoben knew clearly that he couldn't beat the tall and fat village chief, so he had to find another way.

Finally, he remembered that the village chief's yard was piled with corn stalks.

The village chief had a pig farm in the back hills, and the villagers harvested corn stalks to feed the pigs, so some were piled in the village chief's large yard.

He could climb over the wall in the dead of night and pour some gasoline.

Perhaps the village chief's entire family wouldn't be able to escape. Everyone was asleep, and with the fire blocking the door, it would be difficult to escape.

This retribution would be enough.

This retribution would appease Cheng Laoben's hatred.

He didn't intend to run away. Since he had done it, he had to accept the responsibility. Even if it cost him his life, Cheng Laoben would avenge this.

He wanted to redeem himself.

He wanted to show them that even an honest man like Cheng Laoben had a limit to his patience.

He went to the gas station and bought a full plastic jug of gasoline.

The people at the gas station knew Cheng Laoben, and they asked him why he was buying gasoline.

Cheng Laoben lied.

"My motorcycle was out of gas, and I couldn't drive, so I had to go back to get some gas," Cheng Laoben said.

The people at the gas station made fun of Cheng Laoben.

"Hey, you, Cheng Laoben, are willing to buy a motorcycle?" they said.

Cheng Laoben was hardworking and could make money, but he was also known for being stingy. He was eager to save every penny. He didn't smoke, drink, or gamble. He was also reluctant to buy clothes. They were all tattered and had been worn for years.

Cheng Laoben laughed along.

"Haha, it's an old motorcycle. It didn't cost much," Cheng Laoben said.

Cheng Laoben left the gasoline at home and took Xiaoyu out for a walk.

"You like lollipops, right? Let's go buy some. Whatever you want to eat today, Dad will buy it for you," Cheng Laoben said.

Xiaoyu was so happy that she jumped up and down.

They went to the village store, and Cheng Laoben kept his promise and bought everything Xiaoyu wanted, a whole bag of snacks.

Cheng Laoben thought about it and gave the store owner an extra hundred yuan.

The owner was quite surprised.

"Why do you have to give me an extra hundred yuan?" she asked Lao Ben.

Lao Ben still smiled.

"I won't be home in the future. If Xiaoyu comes to visit, please give her a lollipop." Cheng Lao Ben said.

"How much is a lollipop? Is it really worth a hundred yuan?" said the lady boss.

"Haha, maybe she'll come more often."

The landlady looked at Cheng Laoben strangely.

"Come more often? You mean, you're going to leave Xiaoyu at home for a long time while you're not home?" the landlady asked.

"Haha, maybe."

"That's not good," the landlady said bluntly. "Xiaoyu is pitiful. She lost her mother at such a young age. And if you, as a father, aren't home often, wouldn't the child be even more pitiful?"

Cheng Laoben nodded.

"Yes, yes, Xiaoyu is pitiful. If possible, please take care of her more," Cheng Laoben said.

The landlady sighed.

"Of course I will take care of her. Okay, leave the money here. I'll keep track of it. Whenever Xiaoyu comes asking for a lollipop, I'll give it to her," the landlady said.

Cheng Laoben turned to Xiaoyu.

"Got you heard? From now on, if you want a lollipop, come here," Cheng Laoben instructed his daughter.

Cheng Laoben brought a large bag of food home, rested for a while, and then took his daughter to town.

He wanted to buy her clothes.

He bought his daughter a lot of clothes. Even though it was spring, he still bought her a large cotton-padded jacket. It looked like a coat on her.

"Next winter, it won't be too big for you," Cheng Laoben said to his daughter.

Of course, the boss was happy; he was worried about not being able to sell the cotton-padded jackets.
