Part 2
Once Cheng Laoben's temper started, he couldn't stop.
"From now on, you are not allowed to smoke anymore. You must go to school. Do you understand?" Cheng Laoben rarely yelled at his son.
The son seemed to calm down.
"Don't worry about my affairs in the future. I can take care of myself." The son said.
"I'm your father. I have to control me. I can't just ignore it." Cheng Laoben said.
The son glanced at Cheng Laoben coldly.
"You are not my father." The son said softly.
Although the son's voice was small, it sounded like a bolt from the blue to Cheng Laoben's ears.
"What? What did you say?" Cheng Laoben asked his son.
The son took out another cigarette, lit it, and smoked it slowly.
Cheng Laoben widened his eyes and stared at his son.
"What did you say just now? Say it again." Cheng Laoben said.
The son smoked the cigarette slowly, he was making a decision, and finally, he decided.
He threw the half-smoked cigarette on the ground in the yard.
"I'd better tell you everything. This secret is suffocating me. I really can't stand it. I have to say it." Cheng Hui said.
Cheng Laoben was stunned, waiting for his son to continue.
The son looked at Cheng Laoben solemnly.
"Before my mother died, she told me something. She said that my biological father is not you, but, well, but, well." Cheng Hui couldn't continue.
"Who is it?" Cheng Laoben asked foolishly.
Cheng Hui breathed a sigh of relief.
He hesitated, but he still said a name.
It was the same name as the village chief.
Cheng Laoben was completely confused.
He slowly squatted down and sat on the doorstep.
"Impossible. This is impossible." Cheng Laoben murmured.
The son looked at his father who was slumped on the doorstep with pity.
"I'm sorry." The son said.
Cheng Laoben looked at his son blankly.
"Sorry? What do you have to be sorry for?" Cheng Laoben said.
But the son really felt very sorry.
"I shouldn't have told you. My mother told me not to tell you before she died." The son said, "But I can't hide it from you anymore. If I hide it from you, I will feel even more sorry for you."
Cheng Laoben was still thinking hard.
"You don't have to worry about me anymore. I will take care of myself." The son said, "You have raised me for so many years. In my mind, you are my father. I will work hard outside. When I have the ability in the future, I will definitely repay your kindness in raising me."
Cheng Laoben suddenly remembered something.
He raised his head and looked at his son pitifully.
"Where is Xiaoyu?" he asked, his voice also pitiful.
The son lowered his head and nodded slowly.
In an instant, Cheng Laoben's whole body was cold.
"Why would she tell you all this? Oh, she's dead, why would she tell you this? Oh." He began to mutter slowly.
"She probably wanted me to know that if I have any trouble in the future, I can ask that person for help." said the son.
Help?
Couldn't Cheng Laoben help? Still need help from others?
Oh, when he was dying, his wife still looked down on Cheng Laoben.
The next morning, the son passed away.
He did walk to the door of Cheng Laoben's bedroom and said that he was leaving. But the door was ajar, and there was no movement from inside.
The son didn't know if his father was awake or heard him. But no matter what, he had told his father.
The son preferred it this way.
He didn't want to face his father again, didn't want to see his father in pain again.
In fact, when his son spoke, Cheng Laoben was completely awake, but what could he say? He didn't know what he should say or what he could say, so he said nothing.
Cheng Laoben didn't sleep a wink all night.
Xiaoyu woke up and cried out that she was hungry, so Cheng Laoben got out of bed and steamed two buns.
Xiaoyu devoured the steamed buns with gusto, but Cheng Laoben didn't want to eat anything.
"Dad, why aren't you eating?" Xiaoyu asked.
"I'm not hungry," Cheng Laoben said.
The daughter looked at her father with understanding.
"Dad, are you feeling unwell?" Xiaoyu asked.
Cheng Laoben forced a smile.
"No, I'm not feeling unwell," Cheng Laoben said.
The little girl made another guess.
"Is it because your brother left and you miss him?" Xiaoyu asked.
Cheng Laoben looked at the little girl.
"How did you know your brother left?" Cheng Laoben asked the girl.
"My brother told me yesterday. He said he was going to a distant place to make money so he could buy me a lollipop in the future. I said I'd rather not have the lollipop than have my brother leave, but he said he had no choice, he had to leave. Alas," the girl said, sighing like a little adult.
Cheng Laoben smiled bitterly, not knowing how to comfort the little girl.
"Play by yourself. I want to sleep a little longer," Cheng Laoben said.
But he lay in bed, tossing and turning, still unable to sleep.
Revenge.
