Interlude Reality 01: Above the Moon Chapter 10: The Beeworm (Part 1)

“So now there’s something wrong with this AI?”
Looking at the vast universe and starry sky outside, Li Lin sat in a chair and thought slowly.
There was no one within a few hundred meters of the surrounding area. Outside the pale silver metal structure was an ecological dome created by various cutting-edge materials science technologies. Transparent and metal-like tough materials are one of the crowns of materials science today. Through this dome that cost at least millions of dollars to forge, Li Lin looked up and saw the huge cube hanging above his head.
Space city.
This is the space elevator docking hall. People who need to wait for special cargo or commercial spacecraft can wait here.
People with sharp eyes can see some tiny shadows crisscrossing on the cube above their heads, like a group of bees returning to a hive. The engineering ships add raw materials to the nearby nano warehouses, and then use nano robots to gnaw and dissolve the mineral materials. Then, under the planning of AI, layer by layer, just like some insects in nature, they continue to expand the space city outward.
It is said that in order to create this artificial celestial body between the earth and the moon, humans even reduced the mass of the entire Mars by 3%. Later, with the assistance of AI, this speed is growing exponentially. The mass of the entire space city is said to have expanded more than 10,000 times in ten years. It sounds amazing, but in fact, in terms of visual effect, it is at most a few circles fatter than the previous ball - maybe not a few circles. At least it used to be just a small dot here, but now it is a super cube almost as big as the moon.
But somehow, looking at the cube that was constantly flashing blue and red light and still swallowing up engineering ships and resource ships, Li Lin always had an inexplicable sense of familiarity.
But compared to the sense of familiarity, Li Lin cares more about the feeling of emptying his mind and thinking quietly that looking up at the sky can bring.
"What on earth is this about permissions..."
I couldn't understand it, or even if I did understand it, I had no idea what that guy was talking about.
Those so-called spirits and views are too far away from Li Lin's normal life, especially when those people in authority can say those things in such a luxurious atmosphere. Li Lin thinks that there may be something wrong with his mental state, or that person has done something wrong.
Compared to being really crazy, Li Lin thought it was better for that person to be crazy. One good thing about Li Lin was that he would subconsciously summarize the things he couldn't understand in the depths of his mind and not continue to understand them. Faced with such a thing, all he could do was call the AI, and then find a completely empty position to slip out while docking at the space structure.
"This is simply a mental illness. Don't even report it..."
Li Lin made this comment about the can.
Not long after he stared at the space city in the sky, Li Lin's terminal vibrated, indicating that his personal reception spacecraft was about to arrive.
Li Lin felt the vibration and looked directly at the dome in front of him in space. A spaceship that looked like a ray of silver light gradually docked next to the structure and began the docking operation.
The overall structure of the spacecraft gradually emerged in Li Lin's eyes. The pale blue electromagnetic streamer of the Hall thruster drew a gorgeous arc behind him. Although the direction and structure in space are not very meaningful, this technology that is hundreds of years old still shows its charm. The energy without any loss brought by the room-temperature superconductor and nuclear fusion device can allow this ship to gallop in space semi-permanently to a considerable extent - as long as it does not need to stop or turn.
The aircraft that served Li Lin was not a short-distance aircraft like the others needed, or a round-trip orbital module that was specially designed to travel in space, but a real spacecraft. A complete, not shoddy, large aircraft in the regular sequence.
'Beeworm' class speedboat.
Strictly speaking, it is not part of the entire aerospace spacecraft orbital system. Compared with its predecessors that are hundreds of meters or even thousands of meters long, it is still too small. It does not have a separate name or number. However, from the perspective of structure and purpose, it is not just a simple small spacecraft, so it is known as the smallest and safest spacecraft in the world.
Although the overall structure is streamlined, the interior is mainly a conical living cabin. Semi-liquid substances for shock absorption and guidance circulate around it, acting as a medium and shield while also reducing vibration and noise around it. Inside the steel frame outside the conical cabin is a small nuclear fusion reactor and a huge Hall thruster at the back. Most of the hangings around are loaded ecological compression chambers and working fluid dye chambers. The outermost layer is equipped with a magnetic repulsion shield, which uses the electricity brought by room-temperature superconductors to create a magnetic field to repel most of the dangers in the universe. The whole thing seems to be the opposite inside and outside.
Besides the white coating, it looked like a long strip of material with pits and holes. But in fact, for a spacecraft with only the simplest ordinary magnetic shield, as long as it was not directly inserted head-on, it would not be a big problem to rely on the semi-fluid conical structure inside to resist impact or other things.
The most typical example is that once the human pilot of the Beeworm went crazy and crashed head-on into a large asteroid in the rings of Jupiter. As a result, the spacecraft was completely destroyed, but because the semi-fluid quickly expanded into a shock-absorbing and softening solid when encountering the outside world, the shock absorption and puncture prevention effects were very good. In the end, the entire conical ecological cabin directly pierced into the meteorite, and nothing happened.
Of course, this type of spaceship is very weak against side attacks, but this is also a major problem for all spaceships. Unless they are crazy, no one would design a star spaceship, which means incomprehensible pressure on the logistics and support system. But not designing a star spaceship means that the sides and rear will definitely be relatively weak. After all, no one will be so stubborn as to fight against meteorites, and the structure alone will definitely not be able to withstand something that can really penetrate the protection system. Therefore, basically all the current spaceship design concepts are to defend against the enemy outside the repulsive magnetic field. If they really can't resist, then they can only wait for death.
Compared to the vast and dark universe, AI's creations are too small and fragile. When a sub-light-speed meteorite hundreds of thousands of light years ago hits the repulsive magnetic field with countless kinetic energy, all you can do is pray to God that you bought insurance, that's all.
"But if I die, no one will benefit..."
Looking at the elevator gradually extending from a corner of the dome, Li Lin adjusted his clothes to a magnetic mode that simulated the earth's gravity. He was then directly led over and slowly lifted into the spacecraft.
