FOE Family First Chapter 22 Burn the Heretic
Hugh Spade carefully hid a baseball bat at the door, stared at the peephole for more than ten seconds, then took a deep breath and slowly opened the door.
While it's unlikely that a high school student is a gang member, it's always better to be prepared.
Dennis Herbers was wearing headphones outside the door, with a small Walkman player on his waist. He seemed to be swaying slightly to the exciting music. When he saw the door open, Dennis took off his headphones, gave him a bright smile, and leaned his arm on the door frame, revealing a few banknotes between his fingers: "Mr. Hugh Spade, I'm here to pick up the goods."
"You'd better get out of here now. There's nothing you need here." Hugh Spade said with a gloomy face.
The smile on Dennis's face suddenly froze, and he stared at Hugh Spade angrily: "Sir, I drove from Warwick to East Greenwich because I wanted my party tonight to be more exciting. You say you don't have the goods? He said on the phone that you had the goods, so I came here!"
"That guy obviously fooled you, go and settle the score with him!" Hugh Spade said, closed the door heavily, and then breathed a sigh of relief.
But before he could turn around, the doorbell rang again. Hugh Spade cursed and opened the door. Dennis Herbers outside the door had a fifty-dollar bill in his hand. He said with a grim look, "You win. I don't want to ruin my party. Fifty dollars, sir! This is fifty dollars! I have worked hard part-time for a long time to save up a huge sum of money! I am willing to pay you for my party! Give me the goods I ordered!"
"What's your name, kid?" Hugh Spade looked at the banknotes, then looked at the high school boy in front of him and asked.
Dennis started to speak: "Dennis Herbers, every high school in the state knows my name! The man of Lincoln High School! The future president of the United States! Sir, he is standing right in front of you, begging you to sell the goods to him and not mess up his party with all the hot girls!"
"Wow~" Hugh Spade was stunned for a moment, thinking that the name sounded familiar. After thinking for a few seconds, he pointed at Dennis and said, "Are you the guy who played paid adult programs in the school classroom, causing all schools in the state to check their TV classrooms?"
"Yes, but my classmates prefer to call me the Godfather of Liberalism of Lincoln High School. To celebrate my coronation, I have carefully prepared a grand party." Dennis seemed quite surprised that Hugh Spade had heard his name and grinned.
Hugh Spade nodded, and the vigilance in his eyes dissipated a lot, but he still said: "Go back, kid, there is nothing you want here."
"Okay, seventy dollars. It's the highest price I can offer!" Seeing that Hugh Spade still refused, Dennis impatiently rummaged through his leather trouser pockets. Some loose banknotes fell out. Dennis picked them up and put away the others, leaving seventy dollars in his hand and handed it to Hugh Spade.
"It looks like you're rich, boy ." Hugh Spade said.
"Maybe they had it before, but now they've all changed into this outfit. See, a new Walkman for $145, and a pair of Reebok air cushions..." Dennis thought the other party was going to continue raising the price, so he said quickly.
"One hundred dollars. If you pay me one hundred dollars, I will give you the thing." Hugh Spade finally couldn't resist the temptation of the money and spoke.
He wasn't going to follow Melonie's example and become a drug dealer, but it was n't . At worst, he wouldn't touch these things again in the future. Fifty Adderall pills and thirty Naphalone tablets, this amount of prescription drugs wouldn't cause any trouble at all. He had also been exposed to drugs in college and knew how to avoid trouble. As long as he didn't touch them again in the future, even if the news got out this time, the police wouldn't arrest him. At most, they would warn him and put him on the list of people to pay attention to.
"One hundred dollars? These are usually the most... Sir, you really know how to do business." Dennis irritably gathered all the money he had, which was only ninety-six dollars and twenty-five cents. He handed it all to Hugh Spade and said with a depressed look, "It's all here."
Hugh Spade took the money, turned around and walked back to the living room, picked up the medicines on the table, and threw them to Dennis without letting him in. He said, "Take these things, leave here, and don't come back."
"You don't have to tell me that I won't patronize your business again!" Dennis checked the medicine, then cursed at the door in frustration, then turned and left.
Hugh Spade closed the door and looked through the peephole to make sure that Dennis had left. He then walked to the living room window and looked out. He watched Dennis get into a vintage muscle car and drive away before he was completely relieved.
…
It was not until the lights came on that Dennis drove back to Tommy Hawke's . He said hello to Melanie, who had just returned home from psychological counseling and was taking off her coat. He pushed open the bedroom door with brisk steps and threw the fifty Adderall and thirty Naphalol tablets he had bought from Hugh Spade on the small desk where Tommy was reviewing his homework.
"These cost a hundred bucks, Tommy. If you want this kind of stuff, you should come to me. I can buy these drugs for forty bucks at most. I took a look at the guy and he is indeed quite strong, but if we call Pam and a few guys from the hockey team, we can easily smash the guy's car and beat him up to vent Aunt Melonie's anger. There is no need to go through so much trouble."
Tommy Hawke stopped writing, screwed the cap on his pen, and hooked his finger at the Walkman on Dennis Herbers' waist.
Dennis took off the Walkman and said, "Just to be clear, you said you would give me this Walkman."
Tommy Hawke put on his headphones and pressed the play button, and the previous transaction conversation between Hugh Spade and Dennis Herbers came through.
After listening, Tommy Hawke returned the Walkman to Dennis: "Not only the Walkman, but the tape is also yours. What did you just say that you can buy these drugs for 40 dollars? What about now?"
As he spoke, Tommy Hawke opened the drawer and took out the remaining 120 Adderall pills and 50 Sodium tablets. He piled them together with the medicines Dennis brought back, like a small mountain on the table.
Dennis Herbers was stunned for a moment: "What the hell!"
"Only a single illegal transaction of one hundred or more prescription drugs will trigger the Controlled Substances Act of our great America," Tommy Hawke looked up and said to the shocked Dennis Herbers.
Dennis Herbers looked at Tommy in confusion: "What does that mean?"
"It means that if you bought 170 Adderall and 80 Naphalol from that guy and the police found out, not only the FDAThe DEA will be on him.Tommy Hawke to Dennis Herbers: "But if I just sold you some prescription drugs, it's not enough to make him lose his job and ruin his reputation. So I need that last spark."
"What Spark? Tommy, could you please stop talking like my godfather and talk to me like a human being?" Dennis Herbers asked madly.
Tommy Hawke pressed his pen down on the pile of drugs, as if adding a new piece of dry wood:
"Take these drugs to Holy Cross Private High School, and let the parents of the students who paid a lot of money become angry and burn a heretic named Hugh Spade to death."
