Chapter 9: The Dragon Prince Who Cannot Be Retained 3
I don’t know if our plan of staying put is really effective, or if the person in charge is too busy, or if the person in charge has not discovered the secret of Hongze. In short, several days have passed since the last time the person in charge came to the school, and no other sponsored people have appeared inexplicably in my sight, and there have been no other unusual movements.
During the Chinese class, I glanced back at Hongze, who was sleeping soundly on the table as usual. I silently complained in my heart that this guy really had nothing else to do except sleeping.
Suddenly, Hongze, who was lying on the ground, stood up abruptly, which scared me.
"Hongze! What's wrong with you? I never stopped you from sleeping in class, and you're even sleepwalking! Get out of here and stand at the back of the classroom!"
The Chinese teacher screamed and cursed at the point of almost breaking her voice. I patted my chest to calm my pounding heart, and looked back. The Chinese teacher was holding onto the podium in a panic and getting up from the ground.
"Pfft!" I don't know who started laughing out loud, and all the classmates burst into laughter instantly.
"Don't laugh, don't laugh! If anyone laughs again, stand at the back of the classroom and listen to the lesson." The Chinese teacher was so angry that his face turned red. He slammed the table and shouted, "If you laugh again, I will tell your class teacher and make the whole class copy. Hongze, stand at the back, do you hear me?"
I looked at Hongze nervously, but he just stood there as if he didn't hear me. I wanted to remind him not to argue with the Chinese teacher, but the seats were too far apart.
"Ding-ling-ling..." The bell for the end of get out of class rang at the right time. The students who had just been quiet for a second suddenly became excited and burst into laughter again.
The Chinese teacher, who was embarrassed, picked up the book on the podium and cursed: "You naughty kids, I'll let your class teacher deal with you!"
After saying that, she walked out of the classroom.
Watching her walk out of the classroom, I quickly stood up from my seat and ran towards Hongze. Before I ran to his seat, he seemed to have just come to his senses, his eyes lit up when he saw me, grabbed my wrist, pulled me up and ran out.
"Eh? What are you doing?" I was caught off guard and had to keep up with his pace. I felt like my legs were not my own when I was running.
I don’t know what magic Hongze used, but as soon as I ran out of the teaching building, I found myself standing on the roof of the old library, and standing in front of me was Ji Heng, who looked a little embarrassed.
His bamboo-green hair was messy with a few dead leaves hanging on it. His coat was gone and he was wearing a tattered shirt covered with dead grass and leaves. His black jeans were cut in several places and he only had one silver-gray leather shoe left. There were bloody holes on his left shoulder and right calf, and blood was oozing out of them. Ji Heng looked like a criminal who had just escaped from a police and gangster movie.
I was stunned by his appearance, especially the two bloody holes that scared me so much that I was speechless. I looked at Hongze helplessly, hoping that he could come up with a solution.
Hongze patted me on the back to comfort me and glanced at Jiheng: "Why did you come here like this? Why don't you tidy yourself up? Look how scared you are to her."
"Ah!" Jiheng shouted hurriedly, bowed to me, and when he stood up again, he was wearing the same uniform as ours, as neat as new. "I'm sorry to scare you, I'm fine." Although Jiheng said that, I was still worried: "You are bleeding. Tell me, who hurt you?"
"It's okay, look." Ji Heng seemed to know what I would say, and lifted up his right trouser leg, revealing his unharmed calf. "You don't have to worry now, but you should worry about what I'm going to say next. Are you guys exposed?"
"You went home?" Hongze's voice was a little tense. He pulled me towards Jiheng. A layer of mist gradually rose from around us and enveloped us.
Ji Heng looked solemn. He nodded and said, "Yes, I thought it would be inconvenient to meet you at your school, so I went directly to your house to wait for you. Who knew that before I entered the door, a middle-aged man opened it. He claimed that he was the father of Master Ling Miao, and I did not doubt it at the time. The room was very tidy, and even Ling Long was nowhere to be seen..."
I interrupted Jiheng hastily and asked nervously, "Where is Linglong?"
"Don't worry, Linglong is fine." Jiheng waved his hand and continued, "Luckily, Xiaojinli and Xiaoli on the table told me that the man had been rummaging through your house. I realized something was wrong and wanted to get away. The man also became suspicious and shot me to kill me. I was afraid of exposing my identity, so I took two bullets and then jumped out of the window. I became what you saw at the beginning."
"Oh my God..." I couldn't help but exclaimed, feeling a little scared. Fortunately, I didn't insist on leaving the Soul Binding Cage at home. Otherwise, today's situation might not be as simple as Jiheng being injured. Hongze might have disappeared mysteriously.
"What's wrong?" Hongze turned his head to look at me, then looked down at his clothes.
I followed his gaze and realized that I had unconsciously grabbed the corner of his clothes when I was nervous and scared. I pulled my hand back as if I had been electrocuted, and his clothes were actually tangled up in my hand.
My eyelids jumped. I didn't expect that I had used so much strength. I said awkwardly, "I was scared. I've only seen that kind of scene in movies."
"It's okay, don't worry." Hong Ze put one hand on my shoulder, and I could feel the heat coming from him. "That man lied that he was your father, but it was just a test. Which of your friends doesn't know that you are an orphan sponsored by the Nie family? But my friends are different. So he just wanted to attack me and my friends."
"Even if they attack you and your friends, I would still be worried!" I almost yelled. Hongze's words made me feel very uncomfortable, as if I only cared about myself and didn't care about his life or death at all.
Hongze rubbed his ears, looking like he couldn't stand me: "That's not what I meant. What I meant was that he can't hurt me."
"Alright, alright, you two." Ji Heng said with dissatisfaction, shaking his feet, "Tell me what to do now? Someone broke into Master Lingmiao's house and ambushed him, which means that your close relationship has been exposed."
I nodded and analyzed, "Well, I don't think it's that easy for him to know about the Soul Binding Cage. He was rummaging through my house, and I think he was trying to find something that could prove Hong Ze's identity."
"If it's really as you said, it means they are just suspicious and haven't really confirmed it yet. I'm not completely exposed."
"I think so. Just the title of 'Prince of the Dragon' can only arouse suspicion. But if you say that you are an ancient , I'm afraid even the person in charge won't be able to convince himself."
"Well, the first thing to do is to prevent him from confirming your identity." Ji Heng clenched his right fist, made a palm with his left hand, clapped his hands, and said cheerfully.
Hongze rolled his eyes and said unhappily, "Do you want me to tell you?"
Jiheng chuckled and nudged me with his shoulder, signaling me to speak for him.
I was a little amused and continued to express my thoughts: "Then, we must find a way to get Hongze out of the soul-binding cage as soon as possible."
Hongze raised his eyebrows, looking quite dissatisfied. I saw it, pressed my hand, and said seriously: "Listen to me, I'm not trying to drive you away. I'm just afraid that the Soul Binding Cage will be a burden to you. If someone sees that they can't catch you, they will turn their attention to me. With the Soul Binding Cage, isn't it a buy one get one free deal? I don't want to be a burden to you."
Hong Ze curled his lips, wanting to say something but stopping himself. After holding it in for a long time, he finally said, "Didn't I say it before? The Soul Binding Cage is not important."
"I know you're strong, you can fight, and you're not afraid. But just think of it as doing it for me. I really don't want anything unexpected to happen and find that it's the Soul Binding Cage that binds you." I sighed. Even I didn't expect that one day I would be begging Hongze to quickly find a way to break the Soul Binding Cage.
"Not important?" Ji Heng asked suspiciously, but was immediately frightened by Hong Ze's obvious glare and changed his words, "Okay, you like to be a hero, go ahead and play by yourself."
Seeing Jiheng was about to leave, I quickly grabbed him and said, "You want to leave? You can't just let him do whatever he wants. How can the Soul Binding Cage be unimportant? If anything happens, I can still give it to you. Just take him and leave!"
"Give it to me? Lord Lingmiao, please spare me!" Ji Heng lowered his body and rolled his eyes. "Then let me leave my edict here. If you have any trouble, knock on it three times and then break it, and I'll know. It's no use for me to think of a solution here. I'd better go back first like before and find some other treasures as soon as possible. Is that okay with you?"
I hesitated for a moment, but finally nodded in agreement. I took Jiheng's order and just as I let go of his hand, Jiheng dived into the mist and disappeared.
I couldn't help but sigh and said to Hongze, "Why is he in such a hurry?"
Hongze waved his hand, and the mist around him gradually fell. He glanced at me and said jokingly, "It's all because you urged him."
"Hey! Why am I the only one who urged him?" Hongze ignored me and jumped straight to the corridor on the second floor. I stood there and stomped my feet. "Okay, okay, I urged him, okay? Hey, hey, why don't you wait for me!"
"Waiting for you? Do you have money? Zhou Mian will go home later, I want to see where you stay today!" Hong Ze walked forward without looking back and said to me lightly.
I was choked by his words. I bit my lip and looked at the imperial edict in my hand, wondering if I could call Ji Heng back and join forces to teach Hong Ze a lesson.
