Chapter 81: Mansmei Tower
Hearing what the Rosenberg University teacher said, everyone immediately stepped forward to check the clothes. Fu took the clothes and looked around, her face gradually became ugly, because this piece of clothes was the clothes worn by the missing male teacher before, and the most important thing was that it was covered with blood and various signs of wear and tear. Obviously, the male teacher could not have come to this place by himself.
While Fu and the others were checking the clothes, Shalan inserted the cross sword with its sheath into the belt at the back of her waist, put the revolver in the backpack close to her body, and walked to the wall of the underground passage to check the unique patterns on it.
As soon as she stepped into the underground passage, Shalan noticed that there were some subtle but very regular marks on the ground, walls, and even on the top of the passage. These marks were like waves on a calm lake, advancing layer by layer, as if this passage was deliberately opened by something!
Shalan took a deep breath and was unwilling to accept her own guess. If this passage was really opened by someone or something, then its size would definitely not be small.
“Crack!”
A light sound was heard under Shalan's feet. He frowned and looked at the soles of his feet, and immediately saw a small reflective object.
Picking up the small reflective object, Shalan immediately determined that it was a scale fragment of some creature. However, just a piece of it was half the size of a palm. If it was a complete scale, how big could it be? And how huge must the size of a creature that could grow such a large scale be!
"I'm afraid there's something really wrong with this place."
"Shalan, what did you just say?"
Hearing the sound, Shalan reached out and patted her chest pocket gently as if she was tidying up her clothes, and then put the broken scale into her shirt pocket.
Turning to look at Ailan who was walking over, Shalan said, "I just said this place is too dark. If this continues, our flashlights may not be enough."
Ailan smiled and nodded, saying, "That's true, but there's nothing here except stones, and we don't have anything to make torches, so we can only use them sparingly."
"Teacher Ailan, how is the discussion between Teacher Fu and Rosenberg University going?"
"That's what I'm here to tell you. Since we found the missing teacher's clothes, we plan to enter the ruins to explore and look for the teacher. We can also look for other exits. If there are any, we can bypass the poisonous snakes outside and leave here."
When Shalan heard Ailan's words, he knew that finding the missing teacher might be secondary. The real priority should be to find the exit of the ruins. However, Shalan did not say these words. Now all he wanted was to follow the main force quietly. As for such a dangerous task as taking the lead, it would be better to leave it to others.
He looked up and saw that there were only eighteen people left in the team. At least three or four people had died in Shekou along the way, but the survivors seemed not to have noticed it.
If it was understandable that the people from Birona University did not make any statement because no one except the missing teacher was killed, then the people from Rosenberg University were inevitably a bit chilling.
Of course, in Shalan's opinion, such a result is the reality. When people treat people who have nothing to do with themselves, they often show amazing cruelty. Some people even treat their close ones more cruelly and ferociously than animals under special circumstances.
Now that the decision had been made, the group of eighteen people continued to walk into the ruins. Before, when running towards the entrance of the ruins, Shalan's behavior of swinging his sword and slapping away poisonous snakes made many people know his skills. This made many people deliberately walk beside Shalan, hoping that they could immediately ask Shalan for help if anything happened.
Ailan and Sen walked beside Shalan. As they walked forward, Sen said to Shalan, "Shalan, I saw that you didn't use the sword to kill the snakes that pounced on you. Instead, you chose to use the sword to swat the snakes away. I wonder why? Don't you want to kill?"
After hearing what Sen said, Shalan answered directly: "No, I did this because even if the heads of snakes are chopped off, they will still open their mouths to bite people. If I kill those snakes and cut them into two or three parts, their snake heads may still attack people. Rather than risking unnecessary killing of those snakes, it is safer and more reliable to just swat them away."
Sen nodded and said, "So that's how it is. It seems that you, Shalan, are also very experienced in the wild. And you have such good swordsmanship. You must be a knight, right?"
The knights that Mori referred to were not bloodline knights, but people before they became bloodline knights. People such as junior knights, intermediate knights, and senior knights are collectively referred to as knights.
Shallan nodded with a smile and said, "It's nothing to barely enter the ranks of junior knights."
When Sen heard this, he stopped talking, smiled and nodded without saying anything more.
The passage was not very long, and everyone walked out of it in about ten minutes. When they actually walked out of the passage and raised their flashlights to illuminate the things in the huge space at the end of the passage, except Fu who already knew the situation here, everyone else couldn't help but gasp.
It was a tall tower whose top could not be seen. The space where the entire tower was located was a mountain outside. The inside of the mountain was completely hollowed out , and the tower was built with the rocks of the hollowed-out mountain. Although the surface looked very rough, its huge appearance still amazed everyone.
The teacher from the Botany Department of the University of Birona who discovered this place admired the giant tower for a long time when he saw it. He then walked to the periphery of the tower, copied some of the words on the tower and brought it back to the University of Birona. He also told Fu and other teachers from the History Department everything he had seen and heard, which led to this archaeological activity.
"Teacher Fu, is this the relic?"
Nodding, Fu looked at Guona and said, "Yes, that is the ruins. I call it the Mansmei Tower!"
"The Mansmer Tower? So this tower was left behind by the civilization that spoke the Mansmer language in the Bronze Age?"
"That's right, it's the Mansme civilization where the Mansme language system is located. It's the civilization that is most widely discussed in the archaeological community of the Seven Nations Alliance of Orlan. I think we can find a lot of things here that can subvert the archaeological community!"
