Chapter 8: Spoils of War
"The Hu people's scouts are already wandering outside the village. It is estimated that the Hu people's large army will arrive soon."
Guo Hao listened to the report from the village hunter and began to deploy defenses with all the young and strong men. Although he was sure of victory, he still had to pretend to be panicked.
There were about 80 Hu people invading the village. Each of them had a ferocious face and each of them was riding a war horse. They had probably robbed many villages, so their clothes were bulging and the horses' backs were also full of things. It was obvious that they had robbed a lot.
Guo Hao looked at the war horses ridden by the Hu people and his eyes couldn't help revealing greed. If he could capture these war horses, it would be a good choice whether to sell them or to form his own cavalry.
There are few cavalrymen in the Central Plains, and the price of war horses remains high. If Guo Hao can sell these war horses, he can quickly obtain a large amount of wealth.
The leader of the Hu people came to the village gate with a swagger and shouted in half-baked Mandarin: "Open the door! Let us enter the village and take away 80% of the food, and then hand over all property, and we will spare your lives. Otherwise, we will break into the village and leave no one alive!"
The Hu people behind were holding weapons and shouting words that no one could understand. They looked very powerful. The morale of the young and strong men on the wall began to drop involuntarily, but they still held on to their weapons tightly. They had no way to retreat.
Guo Hao shook his head after seeing this. If they are not real soldiers, they will be weak. Their morale will drop after just a simple scare. They should hurry up and train themselves into regular soldiers.
"Who is coming?" Guo Hao pretended not to hear and shouted to the Hu leader.
"Who cares who my grandfather is? Open the door quickly and hand over the food and property. Otherwise, you will all die!" The Hu head spoke in half-familiar official language, cursing and not taking Guo Hao seriously at all.
Guo Hao simply waved his hand and ordered the young and strong men to launch an attack. The leader of the Hu people just waved his weapons a few times and knocked away the arrows.
The arrows shot by a group of young men who were not even soldiers were not enough to hurt him.
"Kill them! Steal their money, food and women!" The excited leader waved his hand and ordered an attack on the village.
In their eyes, the village wall was just that, not enough to fight against them.
Led by their leader, the Hu people abandoned their horses and fought on foot. After all, using cavalry to ram a wall was not very realistic.
Although they are just a group of unruly people, the Hu people have absolute confidence.
"Shoot! Shoot!" Guo Hao's anxious shouts sounded so ridiculous to the Hu people.
The arrows shot by the panicked young men were weak, and after only two rounds the Hu people were close to the wall.
Only some unlucky Hu people were shot, but they were not hit in vital parts and only suffered injuries to varying degrees.
"You still dare to resist? The first one to reach the top will be rewarded with a hundred dollars!" The Hu leader looked at the young and strong men with disdain. He had already thought about how to torture these ignorant guys.
Several fast-running Hu people tried to get into the village from both sides.
"ah!"
Before they could be happy, the ground collapsed and they missed their step and fell into a trap. The sharp wooden stakes pierced their bodies directly.
Seeing the tragic deaths of several of their companions, the remaining Hu people all became cunning. They ran from the village gate to under the wall, intending to climb up along the wall.
"Retreat, retreat, retreat, run!" Guo Hao watched the Hu people approach the wall in a few moves and ordered his men to retreat.
It's not worth fighting now, no matter if we win or lose, so let's lure all the Hu people in first.
The young and strong men who received the order dispersed in a hurry, and based on their familiarity with the village, they split into small groups and ran towards the village center as Guo Hao had instructed in advance.
Watching Guo Hao and his men fleeing in all directions, the Hu people walked into the village laughing. The gate at the entrance of the village was blocked, so they could only enter the village and kill people first and then find a way to destroy the gate.
The leader of the Hu people wanted to leave two people to dismantle the gate, but no one was willing to stay and open the door during the looting. A group of Hu people shirked the responsibility, and finally the leader gave up the idea.
"Grab it! Whoever grabs it first owns it!"
The Hu people who broke into the village rushed in, fearing that their income would be delayed.
According to past experience, once entering the village, victory is basically declared, and all that remains is a hearty release of emotions.
But when they followed the fleeing villagers to the center of the village, they found that the center of the village was full of young and strong men, as if they were ready for a do-or-die battle.
"Hahaha, look at how they are shaking!" The Hu people laughed at the young and strong men wantonly and did not take the young and strong men in the village center seriously at all.
Guo Hao bent his bow and drew his arrow. Before the Hu people could finish laughing, he shot one of them down with one arrow.
The young and strong men also followed Guo Hao's actions and fought back. Several Hu people were unable to dodge and were shot directly in the vitals. It was obvious that they would not survive.
"Damn it! Kill them! Massacre the entire village without leaving a single person alive!" The Hu people were finally completely enraged. Sustainable looting, be damned.
"It's time! Full army attack!" Seeing that the time was ripe, Guo Hao gave an order and the county soldiers hidden on both sides of the village center rushed out together.
Before the leader of the Hu people could say anything, several arrows shot him. The Hu leader, who was pierced like a hedgehog, had an expression of disbelief on his face, as if he would die with his eyes open.
The Hu people were thrown into chaos after being caught in a pincer attack. Their leader was stabbed like a hedgehog and they were leaderless and in disarray.
"The thieves have become a mob, kill them!"
Guo Hao rushed forward at the head of the troops. The confused Hu people were no match at all and were hacked down one after another.
Some Hu people tried to escape, but were intercepted by the ambushes that Guo Hao had arranged early on near the wall.
When passing by the Hu leader, Guo Hao was stunned and surprised to find that the Hu leader was still alive.
Without thinking too much, Guo Hao swung his sword and beheaded the Hu leader, sending him to his doom.
[Ding! Achievements achieved—"First Blood" and "First Battle Victory"]
[Congratulations, you have achieved a perfect victory, Commander +1, Reputation +5]
After the battle, Guo Hao sent people to open the village gate. There were dozens of war horses outside, as well as so much wealth. Guo Hao didn't want to miss out on this wealth.
The prompt from the achievement system gave Guo Hao a surprise. He didn't expect to be able to light up the achievement again.
too difficult!
Guo Hao has tried various things since he got the system, but he still couldn't turn it on. He didn't expect to achieve two achievements today.
"First Blood: Kill the boss for the first time."
"The first victory in the first battle: the first victory achieved by leading troops."
"The achievement system is issuing rewards. The rewards distribution has ended."
"Congratulations, you have received the Crescent Halberd as a reward, "Basic Archery"
A long-handled weapon that looked like a spear, but had a sharp horizontal hook, suddenly appeared in front of Guo Hao.
Guo Hao picked up the crescent halberd and waved it a few times, and it felt great.
Guo Hao couldn't help but sigh that the system's product was indeed a top-notch product.
