Chapter 8 I didn't expect you to be that person 03
"Okay, but... my milk pancake." I said with a sad face.
"Put it in the oven and bake it. The effect should be the same."
He poured the batter on the table into the oven, and I just watched stupidly.
"What are you still standing there for? Go and sweep the floor. It will be terrible if you slip on the celery."
As soon as he finished speaking, I stepped on a piece of celery and almost slipped. Fortunately, Ju Chenxi caught me in time.
I looked at him angrily: "It's all your fault, you crow's mouth."
"Blame me, blame me." After saying that, Ju Chenxi walked out with the electric griddle. After a while, he came in with a broom and swept the floor.
He put back several of the dishes I took and took a few different ones. I thought he was going to prepare his specialty.
Although I was reluctant, the role of chef finally fell to Ju Chenxi, and I just helped him obediently, peeling onions and passing plates.
When he was mixing the celery, the phone suddenly rang. It was Ju Chenxi's ringtone. I remembered it clearly, so I volunteered, "I'll mix it, you answer the phone."
He joked seriously, "I'm afraid you've poisoned the food, so you better go and get my phone down for me."
It’s strange to say, although I have lived in Aunt Liu’s house for a long time, I have never entered Ju Chenxi’s room. It’s probably because the two of us are always at loggerheads and we would never do anything like inviting each other to visit our rooms.
After I walked in, I found that Ju Chenxi's room was very different from what I had imagined. There were not many things in it, and they were all neatly arranged. There were no celebrity posters, nor any game consoles or the like.
What surprised me was that in the corner of his room, there was a very old guitar, and it was very small, obviously for children. I looked at the guitar and felt an inexplicable sense of familiarity.
At this moment, scenes from my childhood emerged unconsciously in my mind. A little boy was holding a guitar, playing a song for me attentively. That scene seemed like a dream, but only I knew that that moment was real.
I still didn't come to my senses until the phone stopped ringing.
Ju Chenxi was getting impatient waiting downstairs, so he shouted, "Why don't you take your phone down?"
"I'll be right there."
I immediately took my phone and walked downstairs, pressing the unlock button.
Han Shengya's name appeared on the screen, and I suddenly felt lost. Although they had separated, they had not completely lost contact.
I tried hard to suppress my disappointment and handed him the phone.
"Please help me open it."
So I pressed the unlock button again. After seeing Han Shengya's name, he didn't react in any special way. He just said lightly: "Turn on the mute function. Don't worry about unimportant calls. Come and help with cooking. We can have dinner with Lulu later."
I nodded and continued to help.
When he cooks, he is very different from usual. Usually, Ju Chenxi is a little sharp, like a hedgehog with bared fangs and claws, but when he cooks, he will put down his armor and devote himself to it.
He was so absorbed in his concentration that he was completely unaware of my gaze, so I could look at him without hesitation, even if my emotions were revealed.
"Get some salt."
I was distracted and almost missed Ju Chenxi's instructions.
"Get some salt." He repeated it loudly, and I came to my senses and took the seasoning box.
After an hour of cooperation with Ju Chenxi, we completed a big meal.
Aunt Liu usually cooks at home, so Ju Chenxi doesn’t have the chance to show off his skills. It was the first time I knew he could cook.
Unexpectedly, he not only knows how to cook, but is also very good at it. The originally ordinary vegetables actually have a different flavor when cooked by him.
I ate contentedly and praised him, "Ju Chenxi, I didn't realize you were such a good cook, but why don't you ever tell me?"
"What's there to say? It's not like someone who can't cook but says he's a good cook ."
I pretended to be stupid: "Who is that person? Do I know him?"
Ju Chenxi actually cooperated with me: "You don't know this person. She is the stupidest person in the world."
"You're the stupid one." I retorted unhappily.
He shrugged. "You admitted it yourself. It has nothing to do with me."
At this moment, I suddenly thought of the guitar , and I even had a bold idea that maybe Ju Chenxi was the little boy back then.
At the last minute I rejected the idea and asked casually, "Can you play guitar? I just saw there's a guitar in your room."
"I practiced it when I was young, but haven't played it since. Now I can only play very simple songs. Why are you suddenly asking this?" As if he didn't realize that I would ask this question, Ju Chenxi was stunned for a moment before answering.
"When I was a kid, I was in a bad mood for a while. I met a little boy in the park. He played guitar for me every day. Later... he disappeared from my life inexplicably. Your guitar is very similar to the one he used when he was a kid. When I walked in just now, I thought the guitar was his."
“New guitars look the same, and old ones don’t look any different, they just carry different memories.”
I smiled awkwardly, trying to hide my sadness: "I started talking nonsense again. Actually, I was just asking casually."
After saying these words, Ju Chenxi did not answer me, but pulled out the stool, stood up, and walked towards me.
"Do you want some water? I 'll get it for you."
Ju Chenxi's expression was very serious, and he said, "Sit there and don't move."
My body just stood there motionless, uncontrollably. Ju Chenxi came over, lifted my bangs, looked at my forehead for a while, and then let my bangs down.
His eyes, which were originally full of hope, suddenly became dim and filled with disappointment.
"What happened?"
"Nothing, I just suddenly wanted to know what you look like without bangs."
Of course I knew that wasn't the reason, but I didn't expose him.
"I look ugly without bangs, and I don't look that good with bangs either."
"Don't say that. Actually, you are quite good-looking."
It was rare that Ju Chenxi didn't insult me, so I didn't continue to argue and just said silently, "Thank you."
