Chapter 8 I didn't expect you to be that person 02
It was a Chihuahua, very small, but it didn't seem to be a purebred. There were many small patterns on its body. At first glance, it looked like a mini Dalmatian.
"How cute." I couldn't help but exclaim. After he put the puppy on the ground, the dog happily circled around the house.
"It's very cute." Ju Chenxi stared at the puppy from left to right.
I brought the handbag in from outside the door and asked him, "Why don't you let the puppy out after you come in?"
The handbag made a clanging sound. I took a look and found a baseball inside. It was a very old baseball with the seams almost coming apart.
There was also a signature whose color was almost unrecognizable. I put the ball on the table. Ju Chenxi brought in the two bags of dog food and then answered me: "He kept struggling in the bag. He must be not used to staying in it."
"Where did this dog come from? Is it your friend's?" I wondered in my heart, but I had never heard that Ju Chenxi had any friends who had dogs.
"No, I just found it on the road. There's a note on it saying that the dog's owner broke up with her boyfriend and the dog was given to her by her ex-boyfriend, so she left the dog downstairs, hoping someone would take it away."
But when I looked at the dog's cheerful appearance, it didn't look like it was abandoned at all. It probably didn't realize the fact that it was abandoned and thought it was just visiting the owner's friend's house.
"So that's how it is. Does it have a name?" I asked.
"It's called Lulu. If you don't have a name, you can make one yourself. But this name is also good."
"It's just a code name."
Ju Chenxi nodded in agreement.
"Seeing that the owner is still treating it very well, she must still be in love with her boyfriend." I suddenly had an idea.
"Who knows, maybe one day she will come back to take it away, but I hope she never comes."
"Why?"
"Because some things can come back, and some things can't."
I understood what he meant, but I didn't know why he said that suddenly. He didn't seem to expect me to understand. Without waiting for my answer, he squatted down and called to the puppy playing happily in the distance: "Lulu, come here quickly."
When Lulu heard the call, it ran towards Ju Chenxi, as if they had known each other for a long time. I stood aside and watched this scene, and even forgot to cook.
Seeing that I was lost in thought again, Ju Chenxi said with a smile, "Aren't you supposed to cook? Why aren't you going yet? Big meals usually take a long time, and I'm waiting for you to surprise me."
I then glanced at the watch and found that it was almost time for dinner, so I hurriedly said, "Take good care of Lulu. I'm going to cook."
"OK."
Ju Chenxi smiled secretly and said to me, "Come on."
I opened the refrigerator and looked at what vegetables were inside, then opened the browser on my phone to search for relevant recipes.
Ju Chenxi looked at me like this, and asked suspiciously while playing with the dog: "Have you ever cooked before?"
Of course I have never cooked before, but I pretended to be confident and said, "Of course I have, otherwise how would I dare to cook for you."
He looked at me suspiciously and asked, "Really?"
"really."
I quickly found an excuse to divert Ju Chenxi's attention.
"Go take care of the puppy and don't let it make the house dirty."
In fact, this excuse is a bit lame, because it seems that Lulu was put into the bag after taking a bath, so there was nothing stuck on his paws.
After searching for the recipes, I picked out a few easier ones and took the corresponding dishes to the kitchen.
Aunt Liu is very good at cooking. Every time she cooks, I will watch her from the side. Especially her action of cutting vegetables is amazing. Her action of cutting vegetables is like flowing water, smooth and graceful, sometimes it even makes me feel like I am watching an art performance.
When watching like this, I often have an illusion that I can be as good at it, but after starting to cook, I find that what is very easy for Aunt Liu becomes harder than climbing to the sky for me.
The celery seemed to be able to dance. While I was cutting the vegetables, they fluttered in the air and flew all over the kitchen.
By the time I finished cutting, half of it had disappeared. I reluctantly put the vegetables into the plate and prepared to start cooking.
I turned the switch for a long time, but the gas furnace didn't respond. Finally, I found out that the natural gas switch was not turned on.
After turning on the main switch, I turned the switch again and flames suddenly jumped out. I had never experienced such a scene before, and I took a step back in fear.
Because I forgot to pour the oil, the middle of the pot suddenly turned purple and red. I quickly took out the oil and poured a little in. The oil kept making noises in the pot.
I took a big step back and threw the food in. Oil splattered everywhere, and my clothes and body were all covered in oil. It was very hot, but I still tried to hold on.
After the kitchen became smoky, I realized that I forgot to turn on the range hood, so I hurriedly turned on the switch. As a result, after cooking, the kitchen fumes were still not completely emptied.
I was surrounded by smoke and was choking to the point of crying.
The fried celery and tofu turned out to be black and burnt. I'm afraid no one could recognize this dish except me.
In my menu, there is also a dessert, a very simple milk cake. Just use milk and flour, and then add seasoning.
I should have continued with the hot dishes, but after taking one look at the scene in the kitchen, I decided that this would be the next dish.
Compared to other tasks, this one was simple and was completed quickly, although it was not completed very satisfactorily.
I couldn't find Aunt Liu's small jar of flour, so I just scooped a big bowl of flour from the bag. When I brought it to the table, a lot of it spilled on the floor and the table.
After adding eggs, milk and seasonings, the batter was barely ready.
After the ingredients are ready, it's time to start baking. Aunt Liu doesn't usually use the electric baking pan, so she put it in the upper cabinet. I'm not tall enough and can only reach it by standing on tiptoe. Just when my hand was about to reach the electric baking pan, it fell out of the cabinet with a clang.
Fortunately, it fell from the side and the electric baking pan hit the ground, not only smashing the ground, but also breaking the electric baking pan into two pieces.
The huge sound spread throughout the house.
Ju Chenxi hurried over, and Lulu hid by the kitchen door, looking at us curiously.
"Are you okay?" Ju Chenxi asked anxiously.
"I'm... fine."
"I'm glad you're okay."
He looked at my finished product with disdain: "Celery ?"
I was surprised and said, "You can actually see it."
"Yes, just look at the celery all over the ground."
"You have some self-awareness. You know that the food you cooked is totally unrecognizable."
I smiled awkwardly. This was really embarrassing. I had been boasting so confidently just now, but now my true identity was exposed.
I quickly changed the subject and asked, "Can the electric baking pan be repaired?"
Ju Chenxi walked over and took a look: "It looks like it can't be repaired."
He moved the electric griddle away and joked, "But this floor can be repaired."
"Get up. You are trying to be brave even though you can't cook."
"I can cook, I'm just not familiar with your kitchen. Please go out, I'll be done soon." I pushed him out and said stubbornly.
"Forget it. I'm worried you're going to blow up my kitchen."
"I did it for you." I said aggrievedly.
"I know." Ju Chenxi suddenly changed his behavior and stopped arguing with me.
"It's okay. I can do the same thing. You can just help me."
