Chapter 71 Mel's Decision
Janna, the patron saint of Zaun, is real.
Few people in Zaun believed this, but many people in Piltover believed it.
Because the last time Janna appeared in public was more than 200 years ago.
But there are not many in Zaun... no, it should be said that there is no such family in Zaun that can continue peacefully for more than 200 years.
But this is not a problem at all for the big families in Piltover, especially for the members of parliament present here.
Not to mention... Heimerdinger is still sitting here.
His life span may be longer than the family history of some of the members present here. To him, the history textbook of mankind is just a diary.
"Janna is real." Heimerdinger recalled with a sigh: "I was at the scene of the canal explosion more than 200 years ago."
"During the excavation process of the cross-sea canal, the underground rock structure of the construction site was severely damaged."
"So after the explosion, the shock wave of the explosion directly destroyed the underground rock formation, causing a large area of land south of the Pirt River to collapse and sink in the earthquake—"
"It even sank to a depth of tens of meters below the sea level."
"Thousands of people were trapped in the collapsed ground, caught in the raging tides coming in from all directions. They could do nothing but struggle desperately and pray desperately."
"And then...Janna showed up."
At this point, Heimerdinger finally smiled:
"Janna used air currents to condense a nearly solid wall of wind, blocking the overwhelming waves."
"Billions of tons of seawater, or rather, the entire ocean, was held up by her strong winds until those thousands of people escaped safely from the collapsed ground."
Using the wind to hold up an ocean can last long enough for thousands of people to escape.
What a terrifying divine power this is ?
"Even the Noxian Empire would never want to offend such a god." Meier commented in a subtle tone.
The congressman who had previously strongly opposed the leader felt a little guilty after hearing what he heard.
"No, not really... So Levi claims to be the Chosen One of Janna, does that mean he is really the Chosen One of Janna?"
"Who knows?" Mel reminded: "Don't forget, the element Levi controls is... wind."
"I also did a brief investigation of his background - he is from Zaun, an apprentice, semi-illiterate, and has never received any formal education in literature and history. With his identity, background and cultural foundation, it is impossible for him to write this book, 'A Brief Account of Janna's Thoughts'."
"This, this could be written by someone else...right?" The congressman broke out in a cold sweat.
Although he was still objecting, his voice was much weaker.
After all... it's better to be safe than sorry.
"So we have to try to figure this out, don't we?" Miss Mel gave a prepared smile.
Then, she raised her hand first and expressed her position to everyone:
"I propose to divide the Iron Fist Gang's territory between Miss Caitlin and the Wind Leader Organization, but—"
"There are underworld gangs and white gangs. For social impact considerations, law enforcement officers cannot get involved in the conflict between them and the Iron Fist Gang."
"To get this territory, they have to do it themselves."
This was what Caitlin and the others had in mind at the beginning.
Mel seemed to completely agree with Caitlin and the Leader's request.
"That's fine!" But after a moment's thought, everyone understood Miss Mel's intention:
The two sides have agreed to give the territory to the leader but have not yet officially fallen out.
If the leader is allowed to seize territory from the Iron Fist Gang himself, the leader's true strength can be tested with the help of the Iron Fist Gang.
If gang leader Avery could do better and beat up all those leaders, then the congressmen could also indirectly verify whether the goddess Janna would really show up to protect them.
"I agree." Jiraman was only worried about her daughter, not her daughter's friends. She knew that even if the Iron Fist Gang had ten thousand guts, they would not dare to hurt Caitlin.
"I... agree too." Heimerdinger agreed. In his opinion, this was the best offer he could get for Viktor.
At least, the Piltover Council is not directly hostile to the Leader yet.
"Okay, let's try to see how powerful Levi is first!" 4 votes.
"The Iron Fist Gang has benefited so much from this, it's time for them to make use of their remaining energy before they die." 5 votes.
"I still hold the same opinion. Their theory is dangerous but controllable and can be exploited." 6 votes.
"Me too." 7 votes.
Passed unanimously.
The Piltover Council temporarily allowed the existence of the Wind Leader and agreed to transfer the Iron Fist Gang's territory to Caitlyn and the Wind Leader.
But these territories need to be seized by the leader himself from the Iron Fist Gang.
This seems to be a happy ending.
Thus, the routine meeting came to a successful conclusion, and the members of parliament said goodbye to Mel and left.
But Mel was in no hurry to leave. She still sat leisurely at the large round table of the parliament, flipping through the book in her hand with great interest, which she had read several times.
After everyone had left, she waved her hand and asked the maid to come forward:
"Arrange some manpower to send some 'gifts' to the Iron Fist Gang."
"Miss? What are you doing..." The maid was puzzled.
Then Senator Mel sighed with a bit of amusement, "Do you think that Iron Fist Avery's ability alone can force out a wizard's trump card?"
"If we don't send some gifts to the Iron Fist Gang, how can they help us test the true strength of the Leader?"
"I see." The maid understood quickly.
"Be careful to do it secretly and don't show your tail."
"Please rest assured, Miss Mel." The maid understood: "I will never let anyone know that it is the Midalda family that is funding the Iron Fist Gang."
"Very good." Mel nodded with satisfaction.
Then, she turned her gaze back to the book in her hand, holding the "Brief Account of Janna's Thoughts" and began to read it carefully.
"Miss?" the maid asked curiously, "Aren't you going back yet?"
"It's quiet here, so I can read. If I go back, I'll always have something to bother me."
Meier sighed to the maid who had been with her for many years, as if she was chatting with a friend.
As she spoke, she raised the book in her hand and asked the maid, "By the way, how do you read this book?"
"Me?" The maid thought for a moment and said, "I think these are just the ravings of a madman."
"People are born unequal. Some are strong and some are weak. The strong are like gods, and the weak are like ants. The strong live, and the weak die."
"The survival of the fittest is the law of nature. How can there be a world where everyone is equal and free?"
Well, standard Noxian values.
Mel curled his lips in disappointment, but didn't criticize anything.
She just stroked the small page of the book intently and said to the maid:
"I think it is a very good book. I enjoyed reading it."
"The Leader... Ha, what a desirable organization."
"This..." The maid was a little confused: "But Miss Mel, you just... "
Just now I was thinking about secretly delivering equipment to the Iron Fist Gang to cause trouble for the Leader.
“That’s not contradictory.”
Mel slowly put down the book and sighed with a complicated tone:
“Who doesn’t like to listen to fairy tales?”
"Unfortunately, I've grown up."
