Chapter 68 Councillor Mel
A week passed quietly.
Piltover Capitol, the top floor Capitol Hall.
The weekly routine meeting of the Supreme Council is being held here today.
As usual, as the founder of Piltover and a veteran of 300 years in the parliament, Professor Heimerdinger sat in the center seat of the parliament's round table without any suspense.
But it was obvious that everyone only had superficial respect for Senator Heimerdinger, who sat at the top seat.
As soon as the regular meeting began, their attention naturally focused on a young female councillor who was sitting firmly in the second seat at the round table to the right of Heimerdinger.
The congresswoman has a delicate face and a graceful figure. Her shiny black hair is adorned with gorgeous gold ornaments. The tight and fitted white dress embroidered with gold sets off her shiny black skin, making her look even more elegant.
Although she is younger than any other congressman present, no one looks down on or disrespects her.
Because her name is Meir, Meir Midalda.
The Midalda family is a warlord family from Noxus. This Miss Meir Midalda is naturally the spokesperson for Noxus' interests in Piltover.
And as long as you open the current Runeland map, you will know:
The twin cities' cross-sea canal connects the east and west oceans, the northern land connects to the vast homeland of Noxus, and the south is home to countless colonial outposts established by Noxus on the Shurima continent.
The unceasingly terrifying Noxian army had already surrounded Piltover from the north and south. If Noxus wanted to transport troops from the east coast of the mainland to the West Sea War Front and the southwestern colonies, it had to pass through Piltover's cross-sea canal.
In summary:
Piltover is to Noxus what Panama is to the United States.
If Noxus had not been able to dominate the world, and there was a strong check and balance from the Kingdom of Demacia and its allies in the west, then Piltover, as a strategically irreplaceable transportation and trade hub, would have been swallowed up by this greedy beast long ago.
Therefore, as the spokesperson for the interests of the Noxian Empire, it goes without saying that Meir Midarda and her family now have a lot of say in Piltover.
Even the local tyrants of Piltover, the Philos family, have to give some respect to this god who "descended from heaven".
So when the parliamentary meeting started, everyone tacitly kept silent.
Until Miss Mel spoke first like the host of the parliament: "Do you have any new topics for this regular meeting? I would like to hear your opinions first."
Mel politely asked the members of parliament present.
Heimerdinger habitually leaned his head back on the chair, waiting for the meeting to end in boredom.
The other four congressmen looked at each other, and none of them had anything to raise.
Only the last member of parliament, Caitlin's mother, Lady Gilaman, spoke with preparation: "Ladies and gentlemen, I have a proposal--"
"It's about the 'Iron Fist Gang.'"
Iron Fist Gang?
The MPs all frowned.
"Isn't this matter over?" A member of parliament asked: "Mrs. Gillaman, hasn't your daughter given up yet?"
"Yes." Lady Gillaman sighed slightly: "Caitlin has been very quiet these days."
"I thought she had finally come to terms with reality, but I didn't expect that she was secretly preparing a 'surprise' for me."
"Isn't this nonsense? Mrs. Gillaman, you are too pampering to your child."
The councillors were somewhat dissatisfied. Although everyone had been naive before, Miss Caitlin was too naive.
Seeing this, Heimerdinger wanted to say something, but closed his mouth helplessly.
Instead, Councillor Mel exclaimed in an appreciative tone: "Miss Caitlin is a pure person, I like her very much. When I met her, it was like meeting my younger self."
This was not just a compliment from her.
Mel was naive before. She was kicked out of the family power core by her mother and sent to Piltover to be a merchant because Noxus and could not tolerate the brutal killings of the Noxian invading army.
Caitlin's untainted and innocent eyes really impressed her.
"So what does our Miss Caitlin want to do this time?" Mel said in a tolerant tone.
The other members of the parliament complained helplessly: "Is this girl going to ask us to sign an investigation order again? Mrs. Jilaman, you really should take care of her."
"No, Caitlin is not so naive this time." Lady Gilaman smiled and shook her head: "She did give me a surprise."
"This kid wants me to come forward and coordinate with everyone, and promise to let her run the Iron Fist Gang's territory."
"Puff——" A congressman who was drinking tea performed an artificial water magic on the spot.
Professor Heimerdinger, who was cosplaying as a clay Buddha on the first seat, also widened his eyes in disbelief:
Doesn't that girl Caitlin want to stick to her legal justice?
How come after just a few days of not seeing you, you're already fighting for territory with the Iron Fist Gang?
"Smart." Miss Mel was the first to react. She raised her eyebrows in appreciation: "If you can't destroy the order, join the order and try to change it."
"I take that back - Caitlin is a lot smarter than I ever was."
"But running a gang isn't easy... Can she do it?"
At this point, Mrs. Gilaman smiled with relief: "This is where Caitlin surprised me."
"I thought she just had a sudden idea and wanted to use the power of her family to eliminate the Iron Fist Gang. But I didn't expect that this kid was seriously preparing to run a 'business'."
"First of all, in just this short week, Caitlin has reached a cooperation with Professor Victor of Piltover University."
Madam Gillaman glanced at Heimerdinger and said, "Yes, that Professor Victor is the student of Senator Heimerdinger, the close friend of Jace Tallis, and the second inventor of Hextech, who we are all familiar with."
Then, regardless of Heimerdinger's surprised expression, she continued to explain:
"Caitlin invested . He and the Hextech Institute helped to build weapons, and selected people from the Zaun apprentices in the factory to serve as gang thugs."
"I've read the action plan Caitlin handed me - to be honest, the project she invested in, called 'Walkman', has great potential. Even if it's just from a business perspective, I'm willing to agree with her plan."
"She's serious this time."
Mrs. Gillaman's explanation shocked the members present:
But within just one week, they had allies with powerful backgrounds, an organization that had begun to take shape, and a stable source of funds, weapons, and manpower. What kind of terrifying leadership is this?
Who would have thought that Miss Caitlin, who was so naive and somewhat foolish, was actually such a shrewd and capable business genius!
"The Jiraman family finally has a successor!" everyone exclaimed.
"So I agreed to Caitlin's request." Lady Gillaman said with great satisfaction: "I would also like to ask everyone to agree to hand over the territory currently controlled by the Iron Fist Gang to my daughter to manage."
"If this causes any loss of interests to you, our Jiraman family is willing to make up for it in other places."
Although the Iron Fist Gang is the largest Zaun gang in Piltover, it is far from the only Zaun gang.
There are many Zaun apprentices living in Piltover, and there is more than one Zaun community. Naturally, there is more than one Zaun gang entrenched in each Zaun community.
Destroying one of the gangs and handing over one of the Zaun communities to Caitlyn for management would not completely shake up the underground order of Piltover.
What's more, Caitlin has already "repented and returned to the right path", and only intends to solve the problem in a business way. Lady Gilaman also formally promised on behalf of the family that she would compensate the losses suffered by other families in the process.
"Mrs. Gillaman, you really know how to spoil children."
"Well... since you are willing to give Miss Caitlin real money to practice in the business world, I have nothing to say."
After a brief thought, one legislator raised his hand to express his attitude:
"I agree, get rid of the Iron Fist Gang."
Heimerdinger hesitated for a while. Although he didn't know what was going on, how his student Viktor got involved with Caitlyn, and how they started a business and a gang together...
But since this was Victor and Caitlin's idea, it probably wouldn't be a bad thing.
Heimerdinger thought so in his mind and raised his short arms as well.
With Mrs. Gillaman's own vote, she already had three votes out of seven.
The other members of the parliament did not object and quickly raised their hands in agreement:
"The Iron Fist Gang has grown a bit too fast recently. The dogs are too strong and they will bite people." 4 votes.
"That's right. Compared with the Zaun people, I trust the Gilaman family more." 5 votes.
"The weather is cold, let the Iron Fist Gang go bankrupt." The sixth person simply didn't even give a reason.
The famous Iron Fist Gang and its arrogant leader Avery seemed about to be swatted to death like a fly by the frail arms of these congressmen while they were chatting and laughing.
There is no need to start a fire and fight for territory.
The signatures of a few congressmen are enough to change the Zaun community.
But at this moment, Senator Mel, who had been silent, said: "Wait. Before voting on this matter, I have something to say-"
"I'm afraid there's something wrong with this 'project' that Miss Caitlin invested in."
