Chapter 5: The Dream Shatters Like the Deep Sea 04
I haven't seen Li Anran since I met him in the restaurant that day. I have looked for him and called him more than once, but to no avail.
It wasn't until one afternoon a few days later that I received a text message from Jiang Sijin. I was in class at the time and my phone was on silent. She called me several times but I didn't answer, so she sent me the message.
She asked me: Tong Shuchen, are we good friends?
When I saw this message, I had a bad feeling and called her back during the break. But I didn't expect Jiang Sijin's phone was turned off, so I couldn't contact her at all.
I was worried about her current situation, so I asked for an emergency leave from the professor and went directly to Jiang Sijin's school to find her. But when I got there, her roommate told me that she went out in the afternoon and left with a very handsome boy, but that boy was not Li Anran.
I couldn't find her, so I had to keep calling her and Li Anran. But none of them worked. Finally, I had to wait for her in her dormitory and send her messages.
However, when it was getting dark, I received a call from Lin Zhan.
He was very panicked, his voice was trembling, as if he was crying: "Sister Shuchen, what should I do..."
"Lin Zhan, what's wrong with you? What happened?" My heart tightened. Could it be that the boy that Jiang Sijin's classmate mentioned before was Lin Zhan? But why were they together?
Lin Zhan seemed to be frightened and couldn't say anything clearly. In the end, he only told me that he and Jiang Sijin were in the hospital, and Jiang Sijin was receiving emergency treatment in the operating room.
After hanging up the phone, I went straight to the hospital where they were.
Jiang Sijin was still receiving emergency treatment, and Lin Zhan was sitting outside the operating room with red eyes. I ran over, grabbed his shoulders and asked him, "What's going on?"
Lin Zhan looked at me and told me what had happened in a trembling voice.
It turned out that when I met Li Anran in the restaurant that day, Lin Zhan was also watching secretly from the side without letting me notice. He saw Li Anran with another girl and heard the conversation between me and Li Anran.
He liked Jiang Sijin, and he felt sorry for her, and wanted her to see Li Anran's true face, so he had been investigating secretly until today when he found the hotel where Li Anran and the girl were staying. So, he told Jiang Sijin everything, and even took her with him.
Angrily, Jiang Sijin had a big fight with Li Anran. Li Anran even broke up with her in front of her, and then left with another girl regardless. Jiang Sijin was stimulated by this and fell down the stairs.
Lin Zhan said it simply, but I can almost imagine what the scene was like at that time. With Jiang Sijin's character that never wants to suffer a loss, how could she let Li Anran and that girl go?
"I thought that if I told Sijin about this, she would know Li Anran's true face and break up with him. But I didn't expect it to be like this, Sister Shuchen, I didn't want to..." Lin Zhan grabbed my hand, his eyes red, looking pitiful like a child.
I was angry at him and helpless. I didn't tell Jiang Sijin because I was afraid of hurting her, and I was even more afraid that she would do something in anger. I just wanted to wait until I could come up with a better way to solve this matter calmly, but I didn't expect that things are unpredictable. Lin Zhan's selfishness led to such a result. I can't change anything even if I blame him. I just pray that Sijin is okay now.
Time passed by minute by minute. After waiting outside for more than half an hour, the light above the door of the operating room went out, and the doctor and the nurse pushed the unconscious Jiang Sijin out.
I immediately ran over and asked about Jiang Sijin's condition. When I heard the doctor say that her baby was gone, tears welled up in my eyes. I felt extremely sad, and I couldn't imagine what would happen to her when she woke up and found out.
I held back my tears and followed the nurse as she pushed her into the ward.
The lights in the ward were incandescent, and Jiang Sijin's face on the bed looked pale. She looked like she would stop breathing and not wake up in the next second. I have never seen her so fragile. I asked Lin Zhan to watch her for the time being, and went to the corridor outside to call Li Anran.
This time, Li Anran's call was answered quickly. I didn't wait for him to speak, and I yelled at him: "Li Anran, you are a bastard! Do you know that Sijin is pregnant?"
"What did you say?" Li Anran seemed shocked on the other end of the phone.

That's right, you were with that girl all day, she called you, and you lied to her that you were out of town. But it doesn't matter now, the child is gone."
Li Anran was silent. I don’t know what he was thinking at the moment. He and Jiang Sijin have been together for almost two years. I don’t believe that he has never been moved by Jiang Sijin. But if it weren’t for him, Jiang Sijin wouldn’t be lying in the hospital now, and wouldn’t have lost this child…
After a while, he asked me in a low voice: "Which hospital are you in?"
I didn't want to say anything more to him, so I told him the address and hung up the phone. It wasn't until I calmed down for a long time that I took a deep breath and returned to the ward.
I wanted Lin Zhan to go back first, but he was stubborn and refused to leave. He probably heard me and Li Anran talking on the phone, so he asked me, "Will Li Anran come later?"
"Probably." I'm not sure either. The Li Anran who bullied Jiang Sijin like this is no longer the person I knew before.
"Then I'll wait here too." Lin Zhan said firmly.
Lin Zhan didn't leave, so I had no choice but to stay with him to watch over Jiang Sijin. But I didn't see Li Anran until almost 10 o'clock in the evening. Jiang Sijin woke up after sleeping for a long time. Her first reaction was to touch her belly and asked me in a hoarse voice: "Baby..."
I couldn't bear to tell her the result, and when I was hesitating about what to say, I saw her eyes darken and she smiled gently, as if she already knew.
"Sijin, don't be sad..." I didn't know how to persuade her, so I could only say this to her dryly.
Jiang Sijin closed her eyes and said to Lin Zhan, "Lin Zhan, you...get out."
"Si Jin." Lin Zhan was reluctant.
"I have something... to say to Shu Chen." Jiang Sijin's voice was very low and soft, without a trace of strength.
Lin Zhan looked at me, then at Jiang Sijin, then turned and left.
I bent down to tuck the quilt for her and said, "If you have anything to say, we can talk when you get better. What you need most now is..." However, before I could finish my words, she grabbed my hand and shook it away forcefully.
