Chapter 4 Your Heart Is Out of Reach 02
July got up in the middle of the night to make a phone call and wrote down someone's number on a small piece of paper. I pretended to be asleep and secretly wrote down the "D major" she was going to and the woman she mentioned named Jin Li.
No one saw that after July and I left , a hand silently picked up the crumpled paper from the trash can. He stood by the window, confused and lost on his young face, then quickly took out his cell phone and sent a text message to someone.
I checked online and found that "D Major" is a high-end club that ordinary people can't enter. I couldn't find anyone to help me, and I didn't dare to rush in rashly. No matter how annoying it was, I had no choice but to ask Fang Xuyu to help me once.
Fang Xuyu asked me about my exact location and drove the same car that took me to Fang Chongyan's house last time to pick me up. He was wearing a well-tailored suit that accentuated his cool demeanor, and his gold cufflinks sparkled as he rolled up his sleeves.
I didn't expect Fang Xuyu to be so serious and behave like a decent person. After listening to my brief request, he looked me up and down.
"What's wrong? Is there a problem?" I blinked.
"It's a five-star club," he reminded me.
"Huh? So what?" I didn't understand.
"Let's go somewhere first." Fang Xuyu's tone left no room for doubt . I looked at him suspiciously, opened the door and sat in the passenger seat.
Asking Fang Xuyou questions is basically the same as facing a wall. No, the wall even echoes. Every time we can have such a weird conversation, even I find it strange.
Fang Xuyu took me to a large shopping mall and went straight to the women's clothing area with a clear purpose.
"Do you look down on me? Why did you bring me here? Fang Xuyu...don't pull me, I can walk by myself..." Like a dog being walked, Fang Xuyu forcefully pushed me into a fashionable women's clothing store.
I stretched my face and tried on clothes of different styles like a doll, following the clerk's recommendations and manipulations.
Fang Xuyu sat quietly on the chaise longue beside me, waiting, flipping through the pages of a book between his index and middle fingers. When I came out of the fitting room, he occasionally glanced at me and shook his head out of habit.
“The color is too dark.”
“The style is not new enough.”
"It's either black or white, can't you see color?"
"It's too formal. It's not a meeting."
…
Hateful words kept coming out of those cold and thin lips. Fortunately, he had the ability to wear out my usual patience.
"You are so capable, just go and choose!" I held a pile of clothes I had tried on and threw them at him angrily.
Fang Xuyou stood still, put down the page in his hand, picked out a pearly white OL dress from the pile of clothes, and held it in front of me: "This one?"
"Just tried it." I said angrily with cold eyes.
"I didn't pay much attention." He looked slightly apologetic.
I grabbed the dress, glared at him fiercely, and slammed the door of the fitting room shut. After changing, Fang Xuyu stood in the store, stroking his chin and looking at me, frowning as if thinking about something.
"What do you want to say? " I walked towards him without thinking. Fang Xuyu's eyes lit up and he suddenly leaned over. The faint scent of ancient perfume filled the narrow distance between him and me.
I was still in a trance when suddenly my hair loosened and my long, smooth hair fell down like a waterfall. When I came to my senses, Fang Xuyu had left my neck and was holding my black hairband in his hand.
He looked around the store, picked up a small crown headband nearby, put it on my head without asking my opinion, and nodded as if he was appreciating a work of art.
"Okay." He went to pay the bill with satisfaction.
I looked at myself in the full-length mirror, the gentle and ladylike self, and shuddered all over. I didn't expect Fang Xuyu to have such aesthetic taste.
Anyway, he brought me here and it was his money that was spent. I just want to find July. It's up to him to decide.
As expected, Fang Xuyu was the right person to help me. He easily led me into the "D Major". The hall was a huge ballroom, but at the moment, I had no time to appreciate the splendor and the colorful men and women inside. I was concentrating on searching for July's figure among the beautiful women.
As I was looking around, I saw a middle-aged man wearing gold-rimmed glasses. I scratched my head and remembered that he was the old man who had taken advantage of July last time. This kind of man is not a good person at first glance.
I thought that if I kept a close eye on him, maybe I could find July, so I picked up a glass of juice and pretended to drink it, but my attention was always on the man.
"Hmm? Fang Weiyang, you have a very unique taste." Fang Xuyu, who had gone somewhere unknown, suddenly appeared behind me and saw that my eyes were lingering on the middle-aged man.
I ignored his teasing and shooed him away like a fly.
Just when I was halfway through my juice, I saw a familiar figure. July was wearing heavy smoky makeup, a red fishtail dress, and a small bag in her hand as she walked towards the man with a smile.
The man held her arm affectionately and whispered something in July's ear. July, who was originally smiling, suddenly fell expressionless. I had only seen such an icy expression when July said, "I won't let them go."
Qiyue listened to the man carefully, put on a smile again, and gave him a sweet kiss. She turned her head, looked in the direction of the toilet, and walked over with a sharp gaze.
I followed closely behind her.
Before I reached the end, I heard a woman screaming and cursing.
"Zhuang Qiyue, you bitch, slut!"
"That's right! I was the one who tipped you off to your miscarriage last time! Don't you like being chased by people? Why, it feels good to be chased by loan sharks, right? Hahahaha..."
A loud slap interrupted the woman's words.
I never closed the door tightly, and saw a woman with hair as hot as a hyena being pressed on the sink by two men. One side of her face was deformed by the smooth tiles, and the other side was being looked at by July with fear in his eyes.
"Guess, if I paint your face, will you still be able to survive in this circle?" July held a sharp blade between his fingers and gently drew on the woman's face.
"Well, draw it like this? Or like this?"
"It was Lao Biao who did it. It was Lao Biao's idea to go to your grandmother's house."
"anything else?"
"I admit that I was jealous that you were more popular than me when I sang in the back street, so I investigated you and found your weak spot. I knew that your husband had a grudge against loan sharks, so I leaked the news about you. But they have been targeting you all the time, and even went to your grandmother's house to make trouble. You can't blame me, it's because you offended someone." The woman stared at the blade that was getting closer and closer to her, and shouted with her eyes closed.
Qi Yue's eyes were bloodshot, and the sharp tip of the knife was about to poke the woman's face. She asked, "Who is it?"
"Someone who wants you." The woman gritted her teeth, her powdered face almost distorted .
"What do you mean?" July seemed to be struck by lightning, and raised his hand to slap the woman's eyes.
"July!" There was fear in my urgent tone. I couldn't imagine how much trouble she would get into if she acted so ruthlessly.
When July heard my voice, a hint of panic flashed across her face, but she quickly returned to normal. She looked at me with obvious confusion in her eyes.
"I have something to talk to you about." I said to her with a smile.
The two men exchanged glances and let go of the woman on the sink. The woman got the chance and, like a nimble loach, she stumbled, pushed open the door, and ran away.
"Thank Sister Hong for me." July spoke softly to the two people. They nodded, glanced at me, and left from the corridors on both sides.
The tense atmosphere disappeared and I could hear my heart beating wildly.
