Chapter 4 Whatever wish you have, I will definitely help you find it by myself 3
When I stood outside the junior high school department and asked my classmates to call Ye Zixi out, his little face, which was still covered with a Band-Aid, had a wonderful expression full of disbelief, and his mouth was wide open.
"Hi, good afternoon."
I greeted him with a smile, and picked up the lunch box in my hand: "I came to eat with you!"
The junior high school students passing by looked at us in disbelief like him, and whispered to each other about why I knew Ye Zixi and wanted to have dinner with him.
"W-What are you doing here?"
Ye Zixi was like a cat whose tail was stepped on.
Of course, I understand how he behaved. After all, yesterday after school, I insisted on sending him home despite his resistance.
I blinked and answered him calmly: "Didn't I just say that? I came to have lunch with you."
"Hey..." Finally, Ye Jing, who was standing next to me, found his voice again, "You...got up early in the morning to prepare a lunch box, so you wanted to have lunch with Xiaoxi?"
Isn’t this nonsense…is his eyes not working well either?
I couldn't help but glare at him.
This glance was seen by Ye Zixi who was standing in front of me.
Suddenly, the kid yelled at me: "Are you crazy? I don't know you, stop bothering me!"
Many people around me looked at me instantly. I blinked and looked at him without saying anything.
I suddenly thought of Lu Yanye. He also showed up unexpectedly like this, and then chased me and said some weird things... This feeling must make this kid hate it too, right?
But, I just wanted to do something for Ye Jing, this troublesome guy. Did I do something wrong?
After a long pause, I put down my hand holding the lunch box bag, my eyes darkened: "I'm sorry to bother you, I just want to have lunch with you instead of Ye Jing."
Looking at me, Ye Zixi's expression was stunned.
I didn't say anything else, just turned around and walked back listlessly.
Forget it, this child is already sad enough, I shouldn’t be so self-righteous and cause trouble for him.
I walked dejectedly with my lunch box in my hand towards the small garden behind the school library where few people passed by. The hustle and bustle around me seemed like a different world from me, and no one came over to talk to me.
"You stupid……"
He walked with me quietly for a long time, until we turned into the small garden. Then Ye Jing spoke tentatively. His voice was much softer than usual, with a hint of caution.
"Xiao Xi...he was a little aggressive in his words. He has been careless since he was a child. You...don't have to pay attention to him."
I nodded and sat on the bench. Ye Jing rarely sat down with me, but stood in front of me.
I looked up at him, and he was looking down at me.
The warm sunlight at noon fell through the gaps between the leaves, surrounding this quiet and deserted small back garden, and reflected in his eyes as if it had turned into two clear ponds with dots of light. He stood in front of me, standing in this small yard covered with fallen leaves, as beautiful as the scene in Alice in Wonderland - and he was the prince in that mysterious wonderland.
I pursed my lips listlessly and looked at him: "Am I being too nosy?"
He was Ye Jing's younger brother, and had nothing to do with me. Yet I ran over so self-righteously and said that I wanted to have lunch with him and send him home on Ye Jing's behalf. That really made me annoying.
Unexpectedly, Ye Jing did not take the opportunity to attack me.
He lowered his eyes and looked at me steadily. After a while, he suddenly bent down and knelt on one knee in front of me. He looked at me seriously with his big, enchanting eyes, with a comforting smile on his face: "I don't think so."
He didn't say much, and I didn't know what to say. We just stared at each other for half a minute.
I sighed and lowered my head to play with my fingers.
Ye Jing didn't say anything either. He just squatted in front of me and looked at me. I didn't know what he was thinking.
After a while of silence, a voice suddenly sounded in front of me, breaking the silence.
"you……"
I looked up, and then my mouth opened in surprise.
In front of me, the boy, wearing a crooked junior high school uniform, stood in front of me with an awkward look on his face, pretending to be calm. Except for the lack of teardrop moles under the corners of his eyes, his big eyes, which were almost identical to Ye Jing's, looked at me with doubt.
Ye Zixi? When did he follow me here? I didn't even notice!
"I have a few questions to ask you." After a pause, he seemed to muster up his courage and looked at me seriously.
I nodded hurriedly: "Sure! Ask whatever you want!"
"Are you really my brother's friend?"
"Really are!"
"Then why have I never seen you before? Also, I have never heard my brother mention you." Ye Zixi's face was still full of doubt and confusion.
I looked at him for a few seconds, then, in a firm tone, I avoided his question.
"I am indeed Ye Jing's friend, absolutely genuine."
Ye Zixi kept asking me, "Do you have any evidence? If you have evidence, I will believe that you are my brother's friend."
"I--"
Evidence? I was speechless for a moment, and subconsciously glanced at Ye Jing who was squatting beside me and was also surprised by Ye Zixi's sudden appearance.
"Do I...have any evidence...?"
Scratching my head in embarrassment, I looked for help at the translucent guy next to me who suddenly laughed.
Ye Jing stood up, looked at Ye Zixi with his head slightly lowered, with a gentleness on his face that I had never seen before.
"He likes curry but not cheese."
Looking at Ye Jing's expression, I was suddenly distracted and didn't react for a moment.
Then, those big eyes narrowed slightly and glared at me: "What are you daydreaming about? Do you still want Xiaoxi to think you're crazy?"
Well!
I immediately came to my senses and looked at Ye Zixi seriously.
"You like curry, but not cheese."
"When I get home, my schoolbag and shoes are always thrown on the floor and my mother scolds me. At night, after eating fruit, I lie on the sofa and occupy the TV in the living room to play video games."
"I usually don't like to stay in my own room. I always squeeze into Ye Jing's room and sit on the sofa by his window to read the books on his bookshelf."
"The panda pajamas you are wearing were given to you by Ye Jing on your last birthday."
"Last New Year, Uncle Ye was too busy with work to come home, and you got angry. In order to cheer you up, Ye Jing secretly took you out of the house at night to set off lots of fireworks."
…
I followed Ye Jing's voice and repeated it word by word. As I repeated it, I felt the inseparable family affection in those little things, as well as the child's dependence on Ye Jing.
There is an indescribable bitterness in my heart.
My desire to do something for Ye Jing became more and more determined.
I've made up my mind! No matter how much Ye Zixi rejects me, I must take good care of this child for Ye Jing...
After a while, I suddenly realized that the eyes of the stubborn and rebellious child standing in front of me gradually turned red, and a layer of tears covered his big black eyes. He lowered his head and stared at the ground without blinking, as if he didn't want me, a person who popped up out of nowhere, to see him crying so easily.
I didn't say anything else. I looked at Ye Jing and shook my head quietly, indicating that he didn't need to say anything more.
Ye Jing looked at the child beside him, then looked at me, shrugged, with a bit of annoyance and helplessness on his face.
I stuck my tongue out at him and shrugged back.
Fortunately, Ye Zixi didn’t see my series of little actions.
After a while, I took out a tissue from my pocket, pulled out a piece and handed it to him: "Now, can you believe me?"
He awkwardly snatched the tissue from my hand, wiped his tears quickly, and blew his nose hard. Then, he raised his arrogant little head again, looked me up and down in a pretentious manner, and asked the last question: "It's strange, why would my brother be friends with a guy like you? It's unscientific!"
"Haha." Ye Jing laughed out loud and turned to look at me. "Xiao Xi, that's a good question. I was forced to do this. I have no choice. Just answer it casually."
I was speechless.
After choking for a long time, I managed to squeeze out a few words from between my teeth: "There is no reason, it's all fate."
"Humph, then you are really lucky." Ye Zixi looked me up and down again, snorted, then walked around me and sat down on the bench where I was sitting just now, pointing at the lunch bag, "I'm hungry, is this food?"
"Yes..." I responded with gritted teeth.
But suddenly I don’t want to feed this kid anymore. Can I regret it?
Ye Zixi seemed like a different person. He was not polite at all. He just reached out and took out one of the lunch boxes from my lunch bag, opened it and started eating without asking me a single word.
