Chapter 4: Invisible Man
Jiang Xia rushed out of the half-buried ruined temple and saw a group of soldiers shouting and shooting at robots in the wind and sand.
They had light and heavy weapons, and some of them were lying in the sand pits, throwing grenades out.
Under his gaze, the grenade flew into the wind and sand, and when it landed, it burst into a dazzling blue light, illuminating the wind and sand.
In addition to the shock wave and explosion, there is also blue plasma visible to the naked eye that sweeps across the entire landing point.
Quite powerful.
Unfortunately, it did not cause any effective damage to the robot. On the contrary, immediately after the explosion, several rockets pierced through the wind and sand and flew over.
Jiang Xia widened his eyes and leapt backwards swiftly.
"boom"
With a deafening explosion, the three all-terrain motorcycles parked in the sand turned into scorching fireballs. The scorching sand was thrown high into the sky and then fell to the ground.
"Pooh."
Jiang Xia, who was covered in dust, stuck his head out after a few seconds and looked back.
Through the burning wreckage of the locomotive, he could see several soldiers affected by the explosion screaming and being dragged back to the temporary shelter by a thin and dark young man who arrived.
They were injured, but little blood was shed.
Jiang Xia, who was hiding in the sand pit, rubbed his eyes. He wondered if he had seen it wrong. A guy's legs were blown off, but there were no hideous traces of blood and flesh on the wounds on his legs.
Instead , there were broken, sparking mechanical skeletons and some severed cables.
"Robot? Bionic man? Cyborg?"
A series of question marks flashed through Jiang Xia's mind quickly, but were soon interrupted by another wave of attacks from rusty red robots that rushed out from the wind and sand.
Ray beams were flying everywhere, and plasma grenades mixed in the sand and dust kept exploding. In this scorching hail of bullets, the robot seemed to have captured a cluster of life forms.
The rocket pod behind it changed direction, and with the low and sharp sound of firing, several more rockets flew towards the bunker.
Jiang Xia had already run a long way. After noticing that there was a bombing area nearby, he did not stop but immediately took a detour. With a sharp whistling sound behind him, Jiang Xia fell forward again.
Curl up your body, hold your ears with your hands, and open your mouth.
"boom"
This time the explosion was not as fierce as the previous one, and the shock wave was much smaller.
But in the shock wave, Jiang Xia felt a current passing through his body.
It was like a sudden static electricity surge that made the hair on his body stand on end. His long, awkward hair seemed to stand on end.
His mind was confused for a moment, as if an invisible fist hit his brain, making him feel nauseous and want to vomit.
But this feeling came and went quickly.
After just a few seconds, he staggered to his feet again.
"EMP!"
Jiang Xia scratched his hair. The second explosion behind him did not cause any flames, and combined with the uncomfortable electromagnetic shock just now, he basically confirmed the characteristics of this wave of missiles.
The EMP bombs fired by the robots landed very accurately, and the electromagnetic fields they emitted affected each other, enveloping most of the area in front of the temple.
A sharp sound of electric current flashed by, and among the wasteland warriors who had managed to escape the first wave of attacks, five or six more were hit.
The moment the chip in their brain crashed, the weapons in the hands of these people fell limply to the ground.
They were all experienced fighters, but at this moment they were like children, covering their heads and screaming.
The electromagnetic shock explosion will not cause physical pain, but the impact on the body's neural network will cause them to feel sharp pain like being pricked by needles in their brains.
This severe pain will react with nerve currents, impacting the chips in the brain and causing the weapon fire control systems in their bodies to be temporarily offline, as if they were paralyzed.
Until the chip restart is completed, they have no combat capability at all.
These electromagnetic shock bombs immediately reversed the situation on the battlefield, destroying two-thirds of the firepower network formed by this group of exaggeratedly dressed soldiers to intercept the advancing robots.
The situation on the battlefield immediately changed.
In the smoke-filled sandstorm, the outer armor of the robot, which was fully loaded with weapons, was already in tatters, but after the fire network was eliminated, it immediately moved its spider-like four legs.
With a low vibration, the rapid-fire cannons on the arms of the robot's humanoid body were deployed, and the next moment a ruthless metallic wind would sweep across the sand dunes.
All lives present will be slaughtered.
"Sue! Take them away!"
A deep voice sounded amidst the chaos.
But then it was drowned out by the sound of the explosion.
On the other side as the battle situation took a sharp turn, Jiang Xia finally found what he needed.
He crawled quickly in the sand and rushed to an overturned dune buggy. Above the torn cargo box, there was a three-barreled rapid-fire cannon half buried in the sand.
The style was so classic that Jiang Xia couldn't help but lick his lips.
He straightened the truck bed, pushed the dead body aside, half-knelt on the ground, turned the safety, turned the gun, and pulled the trigger.
"boom"
The first bullet was fired, hit the wind and sand, and flew out, brushing against the robot's head.
"cut"
Jiang Xia curled his lips after missing the first shot.
This one doesn't count.
This is calibration.
The second bullet that followed immediately played the music of metal collision. In the rhythmic vibration, the bullets shot out from the three rapidly rotating barrels, sweeping towards the sand in front of the eyes.
Three or four seconds later, with a loud bang, the Y-shaped information collection module on the head of the four-legged robot that was slowly moving forward in the wind and sand in the distance was blown apart.
The detection radar was damaged, causing the hunter to immediately lose its target.
The rocket that was supposed to be fired from the hexagonal rocket nest behind him also lost its accuracy.
More than a dozen red rockets flew out of the weapon rack and began to perform Brownian motion, whistling and hitting the sand in all directions. Explosions rang out one after another, splashing up countless dust.
“Well done!”
The leader hiding in the bunker shouted, his tone full of joy.
After using the collapsed stone pillars as a temporary shelter, the soldiers who were hit by the EMP were carried on the shoulders of the swift black-haired young man and dragged behind him.
He was as agile as a desert cheetah. He took advantage of this opportunity to drag his injured brothers out of the battlefield. He then ejected a syringe from his black gauntlet and stabbed it into the broken limbs of several seriously injured brothers.
The milky white liquid spread over the wound and solidified in less than a few seconds.
"Fight back! Follow me!"
The last three or four wasteland warriors who were still able to fight, under the command of the leader, followed him out of the bunker, set up firing points from three directions, and continued to counterattack.
The information collection module of the robot in front of me is damaged.
It cannot track targets optically or thermally, but this is not the only means of searching for the enemy. It stands still and allows the fire from all directions to destroy its external armor.
The search mode of the additionally installed information wave frequency band is being activated. In the violent battlefield, those wasteland warriors who are stubbornly resisting in the wind and sand do not know that the communication bands of their brain chips have been detected.
So the robot locked onto the target again.
As long as the chips in the brains of these wasteland warriors are still working and generating information waves, they will have nowhere to hide from this robot.
The wasteland warriors' counterattack was also fierce and ferocious.
The pulse rifle and the heavy machine gun using armor-piercing bullets had sufficient firepower. In less than ten seconds, they had lifted the reactive armor on the hunter's body. The most accurate shots had already broken the outer shell of its energy device.
All it needs is another plasma grenade, or a shot from an electromagnetic heavy sniper at its exposed main battery pack, to put it into a damaged state.
But the fighters were running out of time.
"Click"
The hunter, whose exterior was riddled with holes, stopped moving, its spider-like legs spread out, and its humanoid body leaned forward.
Facing the hail of bullets in front, the weapon bay behind slid open in all directions, and as the chain rolled, a silvery, slender, arrow-like missile was sent into the launching position.
I don’t know if it’s a bad taste.
On the top of the missile, a skull and crossbones emblem was painted like a child's graffiti with crude techniques.
"It's over!"
This thought appeared in the mind of the warrior leader at this moment, and a feeling of despair surged up and spread into their hearts through the communication connection of the chip.
"Whoosh"
The missile rose into the air with a thin flame. At a height of more than ten meters, it changed its direction through boosting. It then disintegrated into five small warheads and flew to five different places.
"boom"
A violent explosion echoed throughout the field.
There were two waves of explosions. The first wave was an electromagnetic shock that destroyed the chip operations of these soldiers, and the second wave was a physical explosion that destroyed their immobile bodies.
The chip communication annihilated three signals in an instant.
It means that the three warriors have left this fucking world forever.
This is a sad thing. Seeing a living body consumed in flames does not make people feel happy, but Jiang Xia's eyes were full of astonishment at this moment.
No time to grieve for the passing of life.
He didn't know them.
He was still half-kneeling in the same place, maintaining the shooting posture.
But the bullet that was supposed to fly towards him just now flew over his head and plunged into the sand hundreds of meters behind him.
The other four warheads struck with such precision that they amounted to decapitation massacres.
But the one flying towards him was like a dud that had lost its calibration and was far off the mark.
The accuracy shouldn't be so bad.
Jiang Xia stood up unharmed. The bullets in the weapon in front of him had been used up. He looked around, then looked at the violent robot that continued to move in the wind and sand.
Jiang Xia had discovered before that after his head was blown up, the robot's various attacks would ignore his location.
In this deadly battlefield, Jiang Xia seemed to have become a transparent man.
Or.
The robot couldn't "see" him.
Although he didn't understand the principle yet, a smile appeared on Lao Jiang's face, and he came up with a bold idea.
