Chapter 37: On Stage
Greg pulled Song Yang into a room next door, where Gallo was looking at the bill from last night's party. He made a helpless expression towards Song Yang.
"Song, take care of what you did last night and don't cause any trouble. I don't want to go to the federal court for this shit!" Greg warned Song Yang, obviously referring to Elsa in the room.
Hearing this, Gallo beside him chuckled. Seeing the look in Greg's eyes, Gallo raised his hand and said, "I don't think that girl would be so blind. If I remember correctly, Song won't be eighteen for another half a month..."
"So what?" Greg glared at Gallo. "Do you want Song to be like those African-American stars, have a few more illegitimate children, and then take away a large part of Song's family property, and have to pay huge bills every month?!"
Gallo was speechless. What Greg said was not a joke. Illegitimate children were not uncommon in America, especially for celebrities and wealthy people. Every time one appeared, it meant a huge loss of money. They had to pay astonishing child support every month, and many even went bankrupt because of it.
After hearing what Greg said, Song Yang felt a little guilty, "I drank a little too much last night..."
Song Yang only remembered that he drank a lot last night, and he basically had no memory of what happened afterwards. Song Yang felt that it would be better for him to participate less in such parties in the future.
"Deal with this matter. I have to meet someone today!" Greg glanced next door and said to Song Yang.
When Song Yang returned to the hotel room, Elsa was already dressed. She was nearly 1.7 meters tall and looked very tall.
Looking at Elsa, Song Yang said to her, "I have something to deal with. If you need help, you can tell Hailey!"
"I understand . I also need to go to a magazine to try on makeup later!" Elsa said. She seemed to understand what Song Yang wanted to say and said it directly.
Elsa just came to Houston from Mexico. She had played supporting roles in several TV series in Mexico and worked part-time as a model. Of course, like other girls who came to America and wanted to become famous overnight, Elsa also hoped to become a big star in Hollywood.
"My name is Elsa, I hope you can remember it!"
When Song Yang was about to leave, Elsa suddenly called Song Yang and said with a chuckle.
"Of course, I won't forget!" Song Yang said.
After leaving the hotel room, Song Yang glanced at Gallo, who put his arm around Song Yang's shoulders and said, "Don't worry, Hailey will take care of it, there will definitely be no problem!"
At this time, a model who attended the party yesterday suddenly ran out of a room in the hotel, holding a newspaper in her hand and said excitedly, "I'm in the newspaper, my God!"
The model was holding an entertainment tabloid in her hand. In the newspaper, she was leaning against Song Yang. Her figure appeared prominently on the newspaper, along with a clear face.
The female model excitedly shouted to the models coming out of other rooms, earning a lot of envious looks.
For models like these, their looks and figures are not much different from those of stars. Some are even more outstanding than stars, but they have no chance to become famous at all. What they lack may just be a chance to appear in front of the public, no matter whether this opportunity is black or white!
What makes all the models envy the female model who appears in the newspaper is that with this opportunity, she may be known by magazines, TV stations and even film and television companies. Even if she only has a chance to become famous, or takes advantage of the opportunity to hype herself up, she may become famous in one fell swoop, while others don't even have such an opportunity!
Song Yang shook his head. When he got downstairs, Greg was waiting there. The shaking of the car made Song Yang feel a little headache from the drunkenness. He said to Greg, "Who are you going to meet? You know I have a lot of things to deal with."
"Adrian!" Greg said a name that made Song Yang feel familiar yet unfamiliar.
Song Yang remembered that when he was interviewed by a local Houston TV station, the last person Greg asked him to thank was Adrian.
After thinking for a while, Song Yang remembered, "The city councilman of Houston's third district?"
Greg, who was driving, nodded and said, "It's time to meet him. This time Josiah will introduce you to him through Adrian's private lawyer!"
"This meeting is very important to you and the entire Bruno family!"
Seeing that Song Yang didn't seem to care much, Greg said to Song Yang with a serious expression, "Put away the ideas inherited from your father. This is America!"
"If you don't want to run into bad people like Jaden and Frant again, if you don't want your car to be suddenly checked on the road, if you don't want your accounts to be searched for no reason, if you don't want to suddenly appear in all kinds of bad news, or even shoot yourself in the back, you must deal with people like Adrian!"
Song Yang was stunned for a moment, and after listening to Greg's words, Song Yang fell into silence. He understood why Greg said this to him.
Song Yang still has the same mentality as in his previous life, staying away from politics and avoiding trouble, but now this is America, which is completely different from his country in his previous life. Sooner or later, Song Yang will have to deal with powerful figures like Adrian and other congressmen, and he may even have to choose sides. There is no way he can avoid them!
If he had known Adrian or other powerful people earlier, perhaps he wouldn't have needed to look for the Sons of Chaos. He could have just made a phone call and the Houston police detectives could have found a pretext to put all of Frant's gang of bastards in the police station.
In America, those big companies even have their own supporting congressmen who stand on Capitol Hill and constantly reap various benefits for the financial backers behind them, and even introduce laws specifically to suppress their opponents. This kind of thing cannot be avoided just by wanting to avoid it. Song Yang has not encountered it yet, it’s just that it hasn’t reached that point yet!
Song Yang rubbed his face to wake himself up completely, raised his head and regained his composure, "Why did you meet Adrian today?"
Song Yang knew that this meeting would not be for no reason. The fact that Josiah was able to contact Adrian's private lawyer meant that the other party was interested in meeting.
"Probably because of the DoubleClick matter. There are rumors that Adrian wants to go one step further and run for mayor of Houston next year. He needs more support!" Greg said about the rumors he heard.
Song Yang seemed to be thinking about something as he drove to a golf club. Just like the wealthy area Song Yang had been to before, this golf course was mostly frequented by powerful people in Houston. After all, ordinary people could not afford to spend hundreds of dollars an hour here.
At the entrance of the club, Josiah, the owner of the law firm where Greg worked, was already waiting there.
Seeing Song Yang getting off the car, Josiah immediately ran over and said, "Houston technology genius, Song, I've heard about you from Greg a long time ago, and today I finally met you!"
Song Yang shook hands with Josiah and said to him, "I also heard Uncle Greg mention you. He said you are the best lawyer in Houston!"
