Chapter 3: Whales in the Blue Sea Yu Nansheng02
As soon as I entered the office, I saw Lu Shuang here. I don’t know what the two of them were arguing about, and Lu Shuang didn’t look very good.
I looked at Shen Yuxi cautiously, and he looked cold as always. When he saw me come in, he looked at the food in my hand, frowned and said, "You are my intern, not my babysitter, so you don't need to heat up the food. I have to go out for an interview later, have you prepared everything?"
I nodded, and saw Lu Shuang's expression change. She bowed to Shen Yuxi and said, "I'll go out first."
The interview Shen Yuxi mentioned was an undercover investigation. This was the first time he took me to do an undercover investigation. The first-hand information was very accurate. He seemed to think that it was not a big problem and decided to take me with him. But I just heard Qi Qi say that Han Shao also received this first-hand information. Editor-in-chief Sister Lin meant that it didn't matter if two people published it together. It all depends on whose article is more convincing in the end.
As a result, everyone else in the newspaper office was watching the show.
Senior reporter Xie told me that the two of them were not competing with each other, but Shen Yuxi's reputation made Han Shao somewhat unhappy. His professional skills and wealth were not inferior to Shen Yuxi's, but he was always outshined by Shen Yuxi, so he could not help but want to compare.
I nodded in agreement.
But what is the situation now?
After all, I worked in the newspaper for a month before I got the opportunity to do an undercover investigation, while Lu Shuang was able to stand here as soon as he became an intern.
I cast a puzzled look at Shen Yuxi.
He didn't reply, looking down at the camera.
Han Shao was talking to Lu Shuang about some things that needed attention. Thinking back to when a few people had just come over in a car, the atmosphere in the car was really awkward.
I wanted to say something to lighten the mood. Han Shao just kept laughing, Master ignored me, and Lu Shuang lowered her head in a daze, so I could only doze off against the car door out of boredom.
"After the people come out, try not to talk and hide the recorder." Shen Yuxi glanced at me and put the turned-on recorder in my palm.
"Okay, got it."
He glanced at me and said, "Don't use your sharp tongue from yesterday today. It will cause trouble."
Helpless, I put all my things away, adjusted my backpack, and looked at him with burning eyes: "Master, please don't always think that I will do bad things, okay? I am a professional journalist after all. Even if I haven't graduated yet, I am still very professional, okay!" I didn't know who I was talking to when I said this, but I noticed from the corner of my eye that Lu Shuang was looking at me with a sarcastic smile on his lips.
I subconsciously tried to explain that I wasn't saying she was unprofessional, but she didn't give me a chance and just turned and left.
With Lu Shuang's personality, she naturally wouldn't listen to my explanation.
It is not uncommon to employ child labor in society. Wasn't Lu Shuang under 18 at the time? But handing out flyers is different from doing hard labor in the kitchen.
I watched helplessly as the chef hit the girl's back hard with a broom. I tried to hold back again and again, but I couldn't hold back anymore.
Shen Yuxi was still trying to get another employee to say something and didn't even look at me, so I rushed over.
"Hey! How can you hit a girl?" I ran over and pulled the chef away.
The little girl hid behind me with tears in her eyes. I stood up straight and faced the somewhat stunned chef. I groaned in my heart, it’s over, something bad has happened.
The chef obviously didn't expect that someone would come to help the little girl. He didn't react for a few seconds, but after he came to his senses, he started cursing.
" Where come from? She smashed things in my kitchen, so she has to work for me to pay for it! What's wrong with me hitting her? No one will know even if I beat her to death! Go back to where you came from!" As he said this, he wanted to reach out and pull the little girl from behind me.
The little girl grabbed my clothes tightly and kept crying. I felt so sad watching her, but there was nothing I could do to ignore her.
"How much money does she owe you? I'll pay it back! No matter what, you can't hit anyone! She just owes you money. I can report you for hiring child labor at the police station!"
I saw Shen Yuxi finished her teasing and wanted to walk towards me.
Suddenly, someone pushed open the door to the kitchen, and a man in a gray suit walked in with a serious look on his face. There seemed to be a small sign on his chest, but I tried to see it, but I couldn't see it clearly.
"What do you guys do? Why are you in the kitchen?" the man spoke, and I heard someone calling him manager.
It’s over, the manager is here!
I turned around and looked at Shen Yuxi, who said calmly: "We saw the recruitment information online and wanted to ask, but we didn't know that the manager was not here, so we came in first. You are the manager, right?" Before speaking, he had quietly hidden the recorder and miniature camera without being discovered.
Han Shao and Lu Shuang were interviewing someone in another room, and when they heard the noise, they came over. Seeing this, Han Shao frowned, quietly hid everything, and asked Lu Shuang to wink at the interviewee.
I felt the little girl's grip on my hand tighten.
When the manager heard him say this, his serious face did not relax. Instead, he looked around and soon noticed something unusual on my side.
When the little girl saw him turn his gaze towards her, she shuddered violently. My heart ached, thinking how much suffering she must have gone through to be frightened like this by a single look.
I can't let her stay here any longer.
I held her hand tightly and didn't want to let go, even when I saw Han Shao and Shen Yuxi winking at me, I didn't let go.
I feel that if I let go of her hand at this moment, no matter what kind of sunshine she encounters in this life, it will never be warm.
I subconsciously glanced at Lu Shuang.
If I had known her earlier and had had the chance to hold her hand when she was going through this fear, maybe she wouldn't be like this now.
I listened quietly to the whispers of people around me, cold sweat broke out, and I could almost feel the rhythm of my heartbeat.
My palms are sweaty.
"You..." The manager looked at the little girl, then at me, and was interrupted by the chef before he could finish his words. The two of them went aside to talk.
Because the little girl held me too tightly, the recorder in my pocket was slightly exposed. Fortunately, I noticed it immediately with my sharp eyes and quickly put it back when no one was paying attention.
Shen Yuxi walked up to me, looked at me with some disapproval, and whispered softly, "We have already recorded it. If I tell you to leave, leave quickly. Do you hear me?"
"What about her?" I pointed at the little girl standing next to me in confusion. She also looked very scared.
Shen Yuxi looked down at her and frowned.
“We’ll come back,” he told me.
I didn't know if this counted as giving up, but when I saw the manager and the chef coming back again, their faces were even more serious than before.
I squatted down, put a candy in the little girl's palm, and whispered in her ear: "Sister will come back."
She looked at me, with hope and scrutiny in her eyes. In the end, she accepted the candy calmly, obediently let go of the hand that had been holding me, and stepped aside.
The manager came over and said, "Who are you? Tell me now! Otherwise I'll have someone punish you!"
Just as I was about to speak, Shen Yuxi and Han Shao stood in front of me .
Han Shao smiled and said, "Didn't I say I wanted to come and work? Why don't you believe me? Look, isn't the ad posted online?"
Han Shao reached into Lu Shuang's pocket and took out his cell phone. The screen lit up and it showed the recruitment information for the restaurant's kitchen staff.
Lu Shuang walked up to the manager and said with a smile, "Manager, look, my sister came here with me. She is a kindergarten teacher, so it's inevitable that she will ask a few questions when she sees a little girl. Don't blame her. Sister, apologize quickly."
After a moment of silence, I turned around and said with a smile: "Sorry, I am nosy."
God knows how I said these words.
We walked out of the restaurant and the road was still busy with cars. Our car was parked opposite, but I was reluctant to go over.
I stared at the closed back door of the restaurant, and then followed Shen Yuxi in silence. He didn't say anything, but just pressed the recorder. Han Shao was calling the newspaper.
Lu Shuang came over. She was not as tall as me, but she looked down at me.
"Look at what you did. You almost exposed us all just now!"
“I wanted to help the kid,” I explained.
"So you stepped forward? But you didn't save her in the end! Do you know what she will go through after you made such a fuss just now ?"
I sat on the bench, the recorder in my pocket still spinning, the sound of the speaker honking in my ears, and I closed my eyes.
"Yu Nansheng, do what you should do. Rescue is not as easy as you think."
Not to mention saving souls.
I know, she wanted to say that.
"Lu Shuang, stop talking and put the things back in the car. You two should go back to the newspaper office first." Shen Yuxi walked to my side.
I didn't want to look up and see the scrutiny in his eyes.
Lu Shuang pursed her lips and said, "Did I say something wrong?"
I turned my head and saw Shen Yuxi shaking his head, and smiled in my heart.
But I heard him say: "You are not wrong, but she is not wrong either. If it were me, I would do the same."
I looked at him in disbelief and murmured "Master" without letting him hear.
