Chapter 3 The Difficulty of Confession 5
Another month passed before Qing Nuan recovered.
During this month, Cheng Ge followed her closely like a shadow every day and was inseparable.
He didn't dare to leave, for fear that Qing Nuan would encounter an accident again.
Qing Nuan often laughed at him for this: "Brother Ge, look at you, you are so nervous, like a spy on a mission."
Cheng Ge rolled his eyes at her and said, "Who told me to hold a silly child in my hand? If I'm not careful, someone will steal it. I have to watch out! This is not a mission, this is instinct."
When Qing Nuan heard him say that, she giggled.
But in the past few days, after Qing Nuan was discharged from the hospital and went to school, Cheng Ge talked to her obviously less.
Moreover, Cheng Ge's condition was always not right. He was often distracted in class and no longer talked about his idol enthusiastically during lunch break. Even after school in the evening, although he walked beside Qing Nuan as usual, he was silent.
Qing Nuan was a little confused.
This situation lasted for a while before Qing Nuan realized that it was Cheng Ge's father who came to J City.
Cheng Ge's father thinks that high school is a critical period for learning, and the level of J City High School is only average. His child should study in a better school, so he wants to force Cheng Ge to leave.
Although Cheng Ge had been naughty since he was young, he knew that his father was determined on this matter and it was useless for him to resist.
Qing Nuan also felt very lost because of this. When she thought about the possibility of being separated from Cheng Ge, she felt as if her soul had been taken away from her and she couldn't sit still.
Cheng Ge found a weekend off, called Qing Nuan, and said he wanted to go to the school to leave some souvenirs.
There is a picturesque birch forest near the school.
The cold-resistant white birch trees and the scattered snow formed a pure white picture in front of Qingnuan's eyes.
Even though winter has arrived, the birch trees are still full of vitality.
Cheng Ge, wearing a black down jacket and a warm woolen hat, led Qing Nuan into the forest.
Qing Nuan followed Cheng Ge to the first birch tree at the southernmost end of the playground. This was a well-remembered and secret corner. The birch tree was tall and straight. Cheng Ge always liked to recite English and historical dates with Qing Nuan in this place, and read Cheng Ge's favorite Rabindranath Tagore poems together.
This birch tree witnessed many details of Cheng Ge and Qing Nuan's past. Cheng Ge said: "It is the most suitable place to bury the memories."
Qing Nuan asked: "Why are you making it so mysterious? What exactly is in the iron box you want to bury?"
Cheng Ge opened the iron box with a helpless look and a lingering look: "My dad might drag me to transfer to City A one day. I bury this poetry collection here before I leave. It can be regarded as a souvenir and a mark."
He said this very gently, and Qing Nuan felt sad.
It was a book called "Selected Poems of Rabindranath Tagore", which was the one that Cheng Ge liked to read to Qing Nuan the most.
"Your dad is such a fool. Why did he insist on making you transfer schools? If you study hard here, you can still get into university in City A, right?" Qing Nuan complained with a snort, but still took the small shovel and helped to shovel the soil and dig a hole under the big tree.
Cheng Ge was equally unconvinced and said, "His education method has always been fascist, don't you know that?"
Qing Nuan naturally knew this. She still remembered that when she first met Cheng Ge, Cheng Ge told her that the reason he ran away from the train was because he didn't want to stay with his father.
After putting the poetry collection back into the iron box, sealing it and burying it in the soil, it seemed that no one knew what the subsequent fate of this poetry collection would be.
Qing Nuan thought, maybe it would remain buried here forever, weathering the vicissitudes of life, remaining silent for a hundred years, with no one paying attention to it; maybe many years later, there would be classmates like them, facing separation, and wanting to bury some memories under this tree, and then they would be able to discover the mystery in the iron box; maybe, one day many years later, she would be able to get together with Cheng Ge again, come under this tree, and dig out this box of memories of their youth... There were too many maybes, and Qing Nuan could not imagine the end.
After burying the iron box, Cheng Ge and Qing Nuan wandered around the playground bored again.
"Nuannuan, after I return to City A, I will continue to attend high school there, and then go to college there in two years. Let's meet at the University of City A, okay?" Cheng Ge asked.
Qing Nuan nodded without hesitation: "I will definitely work hard to get into University in City A, Brother Ge, you have to wait for me!"
Cheng Ge smiled happily, and gently told Qing Nuan: "Nuan Nuan, I won't be with you in the future, you have to make more friends, okay? Get in touch with your classmates more, don't always lock yourself in your own world, play with your friends more, then you will be happy... You are just too silent, I was with you before, I am really worried that when I am not around in the future, you will be alone in get out of class and get bullied."
Hearing him say that, Qing Nuan's heart moved, and she boldly hugged his arm. For the first time, she said in a coquettish tone: "Brother Ge, if you are worried about me, then find a way to talk to Uncle Cheng and try to stay. If you are not here, I will be so miserable. No one will eat with me, no one will chat with me, no one will accompany me to school, and I can only stay at home on weekends... You see how miserable I am, you should stay."
Her big eyes flickered, and she looked really aggrieved and miserable .
Cheng Ge was amused and helpless by her: "Okay, you are really getting better and better at acting like a spoiled child. Tell me, if you continue like this, what if I'm not here and you're snatched away by another boy?"
Qing Nuan stood there in a daze. What did Ge Ge mean by this?
She was a little surprised, a little confused, and a little blushing.
After a moment of silence, Qing Nuan finally couldn't help but asked, "Brother Ge, do you remember the question we talked about before? The question about your favorite person." After a pause, Qing Nuan continued to ask carefully, "Now that it's been a while, can you tell me, is your favorite girl Luo Weiwei?"
"Is this question important to you?" Cheng Ge said with a teasing smile.
Qing Nuan nodded very seriously: "Important! Of course it's important!"
Cheng Ge then touched Qing Nuan's head and told her word by word in a serious manner: "Nuan Nuan, the girl I like is not Luo Weiwei."
Qing Nuan's heartbeat accelerated uncontrollably. She grabbed the corner of Cheng Ge's clothes and asked with a trembling, timid, and expectant voice, "Who do you like?"
Cheng Ge deliberately kept the secret, and even joked, "Hey, you want to know the answer so much, don't tell me you like me?"
Qing Nuan was embarrassed and angry, so she simply threw off the corner of his clothes and snorted, "You can say it or not, it has nothing to do with me anyway."
"It doesn't matter if you still care so much. You looked expectant just now!"
Cheng Ge insisted on teasing her.
Qing Nuan loudly retorted: "Can't I ask who my future sister-in-law is? I'm being kind-hearted. When you transfer to another school, I can even help you pass a love letter or something. Please don't be so self-indulgent, okay!"
In this way, the two people bickered back and forth, and the laughter continued.
But in the end, Cheng Ge still told Qing Nuan that he would tell her who the girl he liked was.
Cheng Ge pulled Qing Nuan's hand over, and under Qing Nuan's gaze, he wrote a "Ti" on her palm with his fingertips.
"Ti?" Qing Nuan looked at the two letters in confusion, and asked puzzledly, "What is this? Does it have a special meaning?"
Cheng Ge still had that smiling face, with a hint of mystery and expectation.
"Nuan Nuan, we still have a long way to go. You can take your time to guess what it means. As I said, there will be a prize if you guess it right."
Qing Nuan sighed. This guy Ge Ge even gave her a riddle before leaving. It was really too much.
Qing Nuan failed to keep Cheng Ge in the end.
A week later, the transfer procedures were completed, and Cheng Ge followed his father on the train to City A.
On the day he left, Qing Nuan and Luo Weiwei braved the first snow of winter and went to the train station to see him off.
After a hasty farewell, Cheng Ge left.
Before leaving, Cheng Ge smiled at Qing Nuan through the car window and made a mouth shape.
The lip movements are simple and easy to understand , there is no need to guess.
So Qing Nuan also smiled reluctantly.
She knew what Ge Ge said was: See you in college.
