Chapter 3: Disappearing Cumulonimbus 2
Lu Mingyu didn't get the grades he wanted, and I didn't pass the remaining subjects because of cheating. Fortunately, Lu Mingyu got money from his parents and bought the mountain bike.
On the day he got the new car, he waited for me to finish my shift and took me to the garage to see his new car.
Along the way, he shook the keys in his hand and whistled happily, as happy as a child who had found a treasure.
I followed him with my hands in my pockets, feeling extremely happy.
It was a new silver-grey car. Although I couldn't read the brand and model, I could tell from the paint and workmanship that it was expensive. I didn't dare ask him the price of the car, for fear of being shocked.
"How about it? Cool, right?" He winked at me.
I nodded stupidly and watched him push the car out.
In the evening when the ice and snow melted and the spring breeze was blowing, he was wearing the black sweater I gave him, and his back was puffed up by the wind. At this moment, he turned around and patted the seat.
"Do you want to come up?"
"Ah?" I looked at him flattered.
"I'll take you home." He said with certainty.
I walked over obediently and sat on it in a weird posture.
He frowned at me, then grabbed my shoulders and adjusted my sitting position.
At this moment, I couldn't help thinking of Pei Zhiming. When I was a kid, I always sat dishonestly on the seat, and before I left, he would help me adjust it like this.
As if he had noticed something, Lu Mingyu suddenly knocked on my head: "What are you daydreaming about?"
"No." I shook my head and didn't want to mention Pei Zhiming.
The street lights lit up on time, making the young man in front of him look even more gentle and dazzling.
He got on the bike and told me to hold his waist. I knew it was normal, but my heart still beat faster.
I reached out my hand cautiously, but ended up just grabbing the corner of his shirt. As the car drove slowly, he began to ramble.
"Hey, you're so light, you need to eat more next time, okay?"
“I can eat anything but gain weight.”
"Oh, that's amazing."
“It’s true.”
"You're so light, I don't even feel it when I carry you. I'll take you home more often in the future."
"Are you serious?" My voice subconsciously became very light, as light as a cloud that would disperse at any time.
He didn't know that these words were like a hand that turned the world upside down and messed up my mood.
"What's so false about this? Besides, we will graduate at the end of this semester, and we will have fewer opportunities to meet when we go to college."
"Yes, I'm going to college." I sighed inaudibly. Half a year later, maybe I won't be able to see him face to face so often and so intimately.
I think I finally found the reason why I have been inexplicably sad during this period.
That night, Lu Mingyu sent me home as promised, and then sat with me in the pavilion downstairs and chatted for a long time.
We talked about a lot, from his childhood to his future life plans.
I finally realized that he, who always seemed to be heartless, also had his own worries and troubles. He was not the high and mighty prince in my eyes.
But I never confided my sorrow and troubles to him, because I knew that my worries were more or less related to him.
When he is in front of me, all those worries disappear.
But I never let him know this.
The next day after school, in order to go back home with Lu Mingyu, I turned down invitations from some girls I was close to to go to the night market, and waited for Lu Mingyu at the school gate early.
There was a basketball game recently, so he spent the whole afternoon practicing basketball in the gym. I didn't dare to go to the basketball court to find him, so I had to choose this compromise location at the school gate.
After waiting for about twenty minutes, I finally saw him among a small group of people walking out of the gymnasium.
Today, he was wearing a red hoodie and a baseball cap turned backwards. He stood out among the crowd of boys. I wanted to go up to him, but the moment I moved away, I stopped. Because, next to him, there was a girl. That girl was none other than the most famous beauty in the school. They were talking and laughing, and their relationship seemed intimate but also a little ambiguous.
I took a step back and hid myself in the shadows, suddenly feeling a little nauseous.
It is worth admitting that in terms of appearance, they are undoubtedly the best match. This is why there are always rumors about them recently. I am not unaware of these things, but I always think that I don’t care.
Lu Mingyu and I have always been good friends, so what does it matter to me?
However, when I saw it with my own eyes, I found that I seemed as fragile as glass at this moment.
Lu Mingyu and his group walked into the carport. The others wisely dispersed, but the school beauty kept following him with a smile on her face.
They came out of the carport together, and Lu Mingyu asked with a smile: "Are you going to Nanzhi Road now?"
"Yes, my home is over there."
"Oh, then I'll take you there."
As soon as he finished speaking, his group of brothers began to whistle, but he continued to smile and said nothing.
I couldn't hear the conversation that followed, nor did I want to hear it. I hid my whole body in the shadows, so that no one would see me if they didn't pay attention.
I wanted to wait until they left before appearing again, but I couldn't help but look at them.
Lu Mingyu finally passed by me with the school beauty.
I finally captured this scene.
The school beauty smiled happily. She asked cheerfully, "Lu Mingyu, am I the first girl you picked up?"
Lu Mingyu paused for a moment, but only for a moment, and then replied with a faint smile: "Yes."
Yes, she was the first girl you picked up.
As for me, I shouldn’t be considered a girl. I’m just your friend.
My clenched hands gradually loosened, and it was as if all the strength in my body was drained away. The nausea in my heart became more and more severe.
I stepped out of the shadows, feeling embarrassed and insignificant.
Watching their backs as they left, I finally understood a fact, but I never thought that this fact would be told to me in such a cruel way.
It turns out that I have fallen in love with Lu Mingyu for a long time.
But I will always be just his friend.
Pei Zhiming, you see, we are similar even in our unrequited love. You have been in love with Chen Meihua all your life, and I seem to have been destined to be in love with the boy who always treated me as a sister since I first fell in love.
Can you tell me whether this is good or bad?
