Chapter 29: All fear is due to insufficient firepower
Along the way, whenever Long Yuan encountered a zombie, he would just shoot a high-explosive bomb at it. Now Long Yuan was no longer afraid, and even became a little excited.
As expected, the saying that all fear comes from insufficient firepower is really true. The zombies were blown to pieces before they could even make a sound.
Some zombies heard the noise and were about to turn around when they were engulfed by flames.
With Long Yuan's heavy firepower clearing the way, the two men arrived smoothly at the door of Dr. Bud's office.
At this time, a voice came from the radio.
"Welcome to Dr. Nathaniel Budd's office. Please state your purpose on the intercom."
"Dr. Bud, are you in there? I'm here to save you! Open the door!" Carlos said into the intercom.
"The voiceprint doesn't match." The mechanical female voice said coldly.
"Voiceprint? What kind of science fiction movie would have this kind of bullshit?" Carlos complained dejectedly .
Long Yuan shrugged, "Move aside, I'll do it."
After saying this, Long Yuan fired two high-explosive bombs at the gate. When the smoke cleared, the gate was intact.
"This door is bulletproof and can only be blown open by a rocket launcher. Unfortunately, we used up all the rockets when we fought that monster before." Carlos shook his head and said.
Long Yuan took another careful look at the gate, confirming that the howitzer hadn't damaged it. It seemed like he'd have to go look for Dr. Bud's tape, just like in the game.
Thinking of this, Long Yuan walked to the counter next to him. If he remembered correctly, there seemed to be a player here that could be used to play Dr. Bud's recording.
After searching around for a while, he found the player in the drawer. Carlos, who was standing by, handed Long Yuan a report that read:
September 26
Every day they were bringing in more patients with this "mystery disease." Sedatives weren't enough to stop their agitated state, so we put them in straitjackets and moved them to an isolation ward.
The problem is, the isolation ward is already overflowing. And yet the director is still asking us to admit any symptomatic patient for free. What does he expect us to do? Pray for them to get better? We don't have a cure for this disease.
But that wasn't the only thing that bothered me. When these patients died, the bodies weren't taken away by the usual body-collection team. The hospital explained that the bodies were being "handled specially" to prevent the spread of disease, but I wasn't convinced. Miranda once saw someone pushing a body through a "no-entry door" at night. Why? What was that place? What were they doing?
September 27
We have received more than 20 patients with "mysterious diseases" in the isolation ward. Patients have symptoms such as severe limb necrosis, persistent high fever, delirium and excessive appetite.
Could it be a viral infection? I've tried various antimicrobial agents, but the research department hasn't yet provided any blood analysis results. → Ask again.
Dr. Yang was bitten while treating one of his patients. We disinfected the wound, but his fever persisted. Nothing worked.
Meanwhile, the outpatient department was in chaos, with patients becoming increasingly agitated and violent.
We've asked off-duty staff to come back in to help. It's all hands on deck now. We have to get this chaos under control!
September 28
We tried. I swear to God we tried, but we couldn't. This mess completely out of control. Victims are pouring in, people are dying, and the infection is spreading faster than we can handle it.
So we gave up trying.
Those of us who weren't infected set up a barrier , keeping the others away. We could hear the cries for help outside. The screams... but none of us dared leave, for we would die too.
I can't believe we abandoned our patients...it's the worst sin you can commit as a nurse.
I couldn't stop shaking, but I wanted to live. I wanted to live.
9 p.m.
We heard a helicopter flying overhead and immediately hugged each other and cried, thinking the rescue team was coming.
But the sound of the helicopter gradually faded away, and now only the groans of the dead and the silent cries in our hearts remained. We were almost losing our minds.
Dr. Yang, Ariana, Miranda, Dakota, I'm sorry to disappoint you...
Something is approaching
save…
"It seems that people from Umbrella Corporation have been here before. Damn it!" Carlos said angrily. Now his impression of his old boss has become worse and worse.
"What's so strange about this? The Dr. Bud we're looking for used to work for Umbrella Corporation."
Long Yuan continued to look through the report and found what he was looking for on the last page.
It was a sticky note stuck to the last page of the report, with the location of Dr. Bud's tape on it.
He had played Resident Evil many years ago, so he couldn't remember many things. If he didn't have this piece of paper, he and Carlos would need to search room by room.
Thinking about it, Long Yuan looked at the note.
Dakota,
I think I know what happened to Dr. Budd's missing tapes. His research assistant took them. One of my patients said he saw Albert take something from a locker at the nurses' station and then walk into the treatment room. I'll see if I can sneak in during my night shift. Just stay calm and keep doing your job.
I don't care how important Dr. Bud is to the medical community. Harassment like that is wrong. I promise I won't let them destroy the evidence. He's a complete jerk, and he'll face justice one day.
You have to stay brave, stay strong. Your friends stay.
"Oh, I see. You want to find Dr. Bud's tape and play it into the intercom so that the voiceprint can be matched and the door can be opened."
Carlos suddenly hammered his hand and said with sudden realization that he had never understood what Long Yuan was looking for here before, but now he finally knew.
"Well, you are really smart. Let's go." Long Yuan rolled his eyes at Carlos and walked forward.
The two of them returned to the second floor and came to the door of the warehouse. The treatment room was to go through it. Carlos stepped forward and pushed hard, but the door was locked.
"Stand back."
A high-explosive bomb blew the door, which was not a high-end door like Dr. Bud's office door, to pieces.
After entering and just about to open the door of the treatment room, the two heard the unique sound of Beta Hunters, which was the sound of their mouthparts making insect calls.
"Shh, give them a surprise."
Long Yuan put his hands in his pockets, actually taking the opportunity to take out a high-explosive grenade from his backpack and gave one to Carlos.
"OK, one, two, three, throw."
The two men suddenly threw the grenade inside, then closed the door and held it tightly.
“Boom! Boom!”
The door in Carlos's hand was shaken down and he pushed the door forward, revealing the scene inside.
