Chapter 22: The Dagger Revealed
Hearing the sound of gunfire and explosions coming from the living room next door, she wondered what movie was playing on the TV. Su Xia watched Lexington drive away her two sisters , then stood shoulder to shoulder with him at the balcony railing and asked, "Lexington, what do you want to talk to me about?"
"I was so excited to see the admiral suddenly that I just talked to him." Lexington had just finished housework and washed his hands. Although he wiped them with a towel, they were still a little wet. He gently hit his forehead with his wrist, "It's such an important matter, but I just remembered it now."
Su Xia asked in confusion: "What's the important thing?"
"Didn't the admiral say that he would not leave in the future?" Lexington said, "He would stay in the garrison." She grasped the railing, and the veins on the back of her hand faintly appeared. It can be seen that she was holding on to the railing. She was worried that she had heard it wrong.
"Yeah." Su Xia smiled bitterly. I can't leave even if I want to. As for jumping into the sea, jumping off a building, or having a car accident to try to travel back, I won't do that. If there is no way to go back, I will naturally stay in the garrison. Otherwise, do I have to leave the garrison and fight outside?
"Since the Admiral intends to stay at the garrison..." Lexington was relieved. "Admiral, have you thought about your future? Work and life?"
Su Xia was silent. He didn't think about it at all. When he first crossed over, he walked around the garrison for a long time. Just as he accepted the reality, he met Xiao Zhai. Then, everything was arranged properly along the way, and then he came to this moment.
"As for work, the admiral is of course the admiral, what else can I do? I basically don't care about the office now, so I don't know much about it, but I will always support the admiral." Lexington smiled, "The most important thing is life."
From the intelligence collected from all sides, apart from occasionally arranging attacks and exercises, I basically never managed the garrison. The daily operation of the garrison depends entirely on everyone. Work can be temporarily ignored, but life problems are imminent. Su Xia nodded in response.
"Clothing, food, shelter, and transportation." Lexington paused for a moment, then said, "With more than a hundred wedding ships, where does the admiral plan to live?"
Su Xia hesitated.
"Lexington certainly welcomes the admiral to live here, but..." Lexington said, "The admiral is everyone's admiral, not just Lexington's. As an admiral, you should treat everyone in the garrison fairly. Absolute fairness does not exist, so don't be too partial, just be as fair as possible."
"Yeah." Su Xia responded, "And then?"
Lexington stretched out his slender fingers, gently tapped the succulents on the wooden shelf, and said, "My point is, it's best for the Admiral not to live somewhere for a long time, and it's best for him to live alone. Of course, if the Admiral wants, he can stay somewhere for a few days at any time, or bring someone home, but at least he should live alone in public."
"Why?" Su Xia had no idea at the moment. Living here, or at some wedding ship, it would be fun to live with Bei Zhai, holding Xiao Zhai and playing games with Bei Zhai? Or living alone, she asked this question purely out of curiosity.
"If the admiral lives there...if the admiral lives at Akagi's place , our American and Japanese factions don't get along well. If I want to visit the admiral occasionally, I have to go to Akagi's house. If she makes a random joke about it, I will be too embarrassed to go there again. But if the admiral lives alone, even if Akagi accompanies the admiral, it's not her home, she has no right to make jokes, and there's no need for us to be afraid of her."
"I understand." Su Xia said.
"Besides, if you stay in a certain place, even the ship girls will be jealous. It is very likely that everyone will complain about you, and the ship girl you are partial to will definitely be... Everyone will not bully others, so there will definitely be some small resentment." Lexington thought for a while and said.
Su Xia nodded.
Lexington turned around. In the living room, Xingzhi was watching TV and Saratoga was playing with her phone .
"And, living in a tutelary fort, eating is a topic that cannot be avoided no matter what."
"The current canteen of the garrison is controlled by London. The specialty dish is looking up at the stars. The regular version is salted fish, lamprey, or octopus tentacle version... I don't know if there is something wrong with their aesthetics or ours."
"Looking up at the stars, haggis, beef kidney pie, eel jelly, black pudding... these are traditional delicacies, and they still have some charm anyway. The dishes they created themselves, chocolate chicken chowder, coffee oatmeal, fish head soup, natto stinky tofu with soy milk... ha, I don't know what to say."
"In any case , for the sake of the admiral's safety and health, I advise the admiral to stay away from it."
"That cafeteria is free, but you can't go there. You can go anywhere else, but it's not free. Speaking of which, the cost of living in the garrison is really high. Even a piece of cake can cost dozens of dollars. On the one hand, the labor is expensive, and on the other hand, the ingredients must be genuine and of high quality."
"...That's about it." Lexington held the railing and tilted his head to look at Su Xia. "What does the admiral think? The key is still the admiral's thoughts."
Su Xia was just a newcomer, so he asked, "What does Lexington think?"
"I don't know where there is an empty house in the garrison. You need to go to the office to ask." Lexington glanced at him complainingly, "It's because you have never stayed in the garrison for a night in all these years. There was originally a house prepared for you, but since the garrison was renovated, everyone moved to a new place and the old dormitory was demolished and it is gone."
Lexington held onto the balcony railing and said, "It's too late now. Everyone has gone off work. We can only wait until tomorrow to go to the office to apply for a house and register to move in. Even if we are allocated a house, we still need to clean it a little, decorate it, and fill out forms to apply for furniture. It will take some time before we can live in it properly."
"How about this, if the Admiral doesn't mind, then you can temporarily live here in Lexington and move out when the Admiral's house is habitable. The Admiral has no choice but to live here temporarily, I think everyone should understand and have no objection, and will not be hostile to Lexington."
"We definitely can't go to that cafeteria, as the prices outside are too high. Otherwise, Admiral, just eat here. It's just a matter of using an extra pair of chopsticks. We've eaten tonight. Lexington's cooking is pretty good, isn't it? It's not bad. By the way, didn't the Admiral say he wanted to show off his cooking skills? We're waiting for him to do it."
Without waiting for Su Xia to nod, Lexington said, "The Admiral has been walking around the garrison all day. It's so hot, he must be sweating all over. Go take a shower first. The Admiral came here without bringing any clothes. I will find a way to prepare some spare clothes and pajamas. Don't worry."
"Go quickly." Lexington smiled, "Or does the Admiral want Lexington to help him with the bath? Sure."
"Um."
When Su Xia was about to take a shower in a daze, the sound of a door being pushed open suddenly rang out, and three little girls rushed into the living room.
Xiao Zhai stood in the middle, with his hands on his hips. Xiao Hua stood on the left, pushing the nose bridge of his glasses with his index finger. Xiao Luo lowered her head as if she was a little scared. There was a bright moon behind the door.
